Watch What You Say
Th article Watch What You Say by Janet Bertolucci Castanos is about degrading comments about women. The article mentions how males are “verbally insulted” by comparing them with women, yet women aren’t compared with boys. The author wrote: “I’ve never heard a female teacher exclaim to a young girl, ‘You read like a dumb boy.’ Yet many a frustrated coach will tell his young male players, ‘You’re playing like a bunch of stupid girls’ ” I definitely agree with, and understand the author’s point of view, yet she argues that with this, children are brought up with the idea of females being inferior to males. This I disagree with, because even as children, we don’t grow up believing all of what we hear and still hold our own opinions. I believe that even when being exposed to such comments since I was young, as a guy, it doesn’t affect or even slightly influence my overall perspective or respect for women and those around me.

Communication and Language
What is communication ? and what is language ?
I believe that they are two very powerful things, but to define them can be quite controversial. Communication to me means passing a message or making a point in any form, be it with you body or with sound. Language is then a subset of communication, because it is again passing a message or making any kind of point, but in a particular way and form. To me, language must be learned to be understood, while other forms of communication are usually interpreted depending on an individual’s experiences and background in life.
With that, I believe when looking at animals, that they have a language too. I find that almost everything can communicate, but that some animals even have languages of their own, which have been learned and is hence, why they can understand each other.
Communication and language are two very important things when living our lives, but communication is something which is hard to stop. Without a language, communication is still possible and at times necessary to interact in harmony with other people or things, proven when humans interact and communicate with animals.
