I thought that I should have used more time then I did and should have asked more questions before I handed it in. My essay was not well planned but it took time to create it and tried to use examples from the ways of knowing that were implicated in the essay . I had a problem sticking to the word limit so it was a lot of cutting and retyping it. I had problems to get all my ideas in such a short word limit. I should also have used more implications in the essay

An example of an implication could be I think baseball is a very boring and uninteresting sport therefore i will never watch a baseball game.

In the video I have learned that the LRAS curve is reshaped after the philips curve was invented. The philips curve had a trade off between inflation and unemployment and that trade off was not shown in the LRAS curve until they found that there was a trade off. Also that when the workers are in extra demand and start to negotiate their wages and if they do not anticipate inflation and bid their wages up in nominal terms the economy will go back to where it was but if they do it in real wages then the philips curve will shift to the right.

To make the inflation drop they need to try and decrease demand which is not good for the unemployment rate because the prices will be higher so then the unemployment rate goes up and then the workers need to make cuts in their wages which makes the inflation rate drop again. Because of this the rate of unemployment will drop again to the state it was in before so they are saying that it will always come back to the same amount of unemployment that they had.

The phillips curve is also controlled by supply. When the supply drops the demand would get less as well which leads to the same thing that I have just explained above here.

Phillips was suggesting with this curve that the rate of unemployment was determining the inflation rate. And also weakens the idea of thinking about long term inflation.

Last weeks lecture was about Music connected to Art and that was again in TOK .

At the start of this lecture he talked about sound he said that you should listen for 30 minutes very quietly and list the sounds that you heard. I did that and heard so many sounds i heard sounds coming from outside normally i just hear loud cars but this time i could hear the quiet ones too and also the fridge the making of ice my father walking around the toilet spray from downstairs and the TV of course but what most surprised me is how much the floor makes sounds and how much it actually cracks when you walk over it. He also talked about when you talk the sound of your voice actually has a way greater meaning then what you just show. If you listen to someones voice and they are nervous there are some gaps in between talking even if you would say you are not nervous you could still hear that this person is nervous so I agree completely that the sounds gives more away then that you actually want.

The most interesting thing what I thought of the lecture was the part with the japanese natural parks not only having visual things but also the audio with it. the sounds that he let us hear I heard them before in a park but never really thought about it in such a way I never thought that it would have a bigger meaning then just being pretty but the japanese added these in there to make a more calm atmosphere and it would fit the atmosphere which was very interesting to me because I never thought about it that much. Also just the main meaning behind music it does not just have only 7 or 12 tones like we are used to but has microtones in between it changes our mood with most of the tones. When he walked around with the shakuhachi everyone was quiet because of the sound of it normally the class is not that quiet there are always people talking but with the sound that came from the shakuhachi people got quiet and calm. Music is part of our life it is everywhere around us it are not just sounds if you listen closely to it, there might be a rhythm deep within.

Belgium Country Report.
Belgium GDP growth rate:
The first negative curves that you can see on Belgium’s GDP growth rate is because of the implementation of the euro in 2001. this caused for the percentage change of the GDP to go negative. but after that it has been stable until the great recession came. Belgium could hold itself well until 2008 but at the end of 2008 and start of 2009 they felt the damage to. The GDP of Belgium dropped to a massive -2% drop in change. Then recovered to positive but at the moment it is again dropping negative which is mainly because of the situation in Greece and Italy

Belgium unemployment:
Belgium unemployment rate has overall been around 8% except for in 2001. This is also the same reason as the drop in GDP percentage that the Euro came in the country so there were more jobs that came free but after that it went straight back to normal. In 2008 it actually dropped instead of decreased which is weird because that is when the great recession is. The reason for this is that some people could have just given up for searching for work because they knew there was no chance of getting more jobs. For the next few years I can see it staying stable again but not at 8% but at around 7% because the economy in europe is stabilizing again after the troubles with Greece and Italy.

Belgium inflation
The inflation rate has been relatively stable for all the years but then suddenly in 2008 with the great recession there was a huge change in the inflation rate. It went really high and this is because of the great recession. Then the government has tried to get it back down and it worked really well. a little bit too well as you can see because it went to deflation in 2009 right after the big increase. i expect it to get stable again for belgium over the past few years and as it seems on the graph it will too.

Belgium balance of payment
The balance of payments has been relatively stable until the great recession then it dropped horribly but now it is again stabilizing and it will keep stabilised. Unless there is another thing that will happen such as the great recession then it will again drop.

Belgium government budget

The euro made the government budget increase in 0.4% at 2002 and then the great recession made it increased by 0.2% in 2007. it had a huge decrease since 2010 because of the bad situation in Greece and Italy and i think this will keep on staying this far in negative until the situation in Europe is calmed.

Belgium government debt

Belgium has been doing very well with debt it has been decreasing since 2000 because of how well it was going with Belgium but then suddenly in 2009 it started to increase again because of the great recession and now it is increasing because they need to lend out money to the other countries in Europe so it will keep increasing until the problems there are fixed.

1. Refer to Plutchik’s model of emotion as needed and list as many emotions as you can that you have personally experienced.

Joyful

Depressed

Angry

Nervous

Fear

Surprised

Love

Disqust

Boredom

2. Describe one experience of strong emotion you can remember from your childhood. How did it affect you?
Anger against my brother. My brother was being really annoying and he kept on annoying me. so after a few days I got so mad at him that I fought against him I punched him a lot and did not really notice what I was doing.

After this all happened I realized what I did and thought by myself I will never be mad at my brothers again because they mean a lot to me.

3. How emotional are you?

I think I am quite emotional because even though I am guy I cry about some things that happened around me and I feel the emotions very strong when i have them. They are part of me and I accept them as they are and dont hide them as some people do.

a. How intensely do you feel emotion (on a scale of 1-10, then describe)? Do you cry or laugh easily?

8 I think I feel emotions really good and as I said before I cry and laugh when there is a reason to it.

b. Which emotions do you tend to feel more strongly? Are you more susceptible to some emotions and less to others?
Sadness and happiness I feel the most. but I also feel a lot of Love I like hugging with girls and being around them.
c. How emotional are your immediate family members compared to you?
My Mother is very emotional and my Dad is not that Emotional and from my brothers I think i am the most emotional
d. Has your experience of emotions changed over time?

Yes it has. First I felt a lot of anger in me only now the anger left and I have more happiness then anger.

4. What physical responses do you have to specific emotions? Give some examples.
Sadness – Cry
Happiness – Laughter

Anger – Mad
5. Can you control your emotions, or do they control you?

I think most of my emotions are not controlled they control me. If I feel an Emotion i can’t just stop it. It stays there until i don’t feel it anymore I can not say to myself i dont want to laugh and suddenly stop laughing.
6. Do negative or positive emotions affect your behavior more?
Positive because I see myself as a happy person and always smile I dont let the negative emotions come very close to me and if they do I cant stop them but I am more a positive person and never see things in a negative way.

7. Do you make decisions based on emotion or reason?
I make them on both. such as Love, I choose some one to be my girlfriend because my emotions say that I love that person not because I have a reason to it. But also I also use reasoning so if there is something that is funny I first need to find the reason why its funny before i actually start laughing.

8. Do you feign/fake emotional response? Why? When? Is it OK to do this?

Yes, Because you can’t always get what other people find funny and then when they laugh and you dont it is awkward so then i act as if i am having fun too. Almost every week. No it is not because you are not your real self it is not who you actually are and i think you should not be a fake person.

I read the article “does language shape the way you think?” and my own opinion on this question is that it does indeed shape the way you think. If you are bilingual such as me and you know those languages well and one word will have a different meaning in one language then the other. This gives you more opportunities and gives you more of a area to think about. You can not just stay close to the meaning of that word in one language but elaborate and go over the meaning from the other language. This will shape how you think and help you think further then just the meaning of it.

In this article they are speaking about Mark Twain which says that the German language is awful because he leaves that things should be an inanimate object and not feminine or male. In some other European language they do the same they give non living things a gender. This makes it very complicated. For example in the German language you have “die Stad” which is the city and die in german is feminine so it basically says that the city is a female which is not because it has no gender. or a bridge “die Brücke” in german is feminine and in spanish it is el puente which is masculine this is with a lot of other words. this makes the european languages very complicated compared to other languages. The way the language have genders in european languages will make people think different about the object because the gender would decide if its elegant or strength and powerfull.

In Dutch the street language that is now getting more influential is also changing the way you think words that used to be used are now getting replaced by other words from other countries because a lot of immigrants are now in Holland and they still talk their language and some of these words are taken over by the youth now and get used by the youth but when they will grow up they wont go back with using the old language they want to keep the language they have used so this will let these words pass and new words will be introduced. We have the word of the year in Holland and the last time it was a word that came from the streets which shows that the street language has a big influence in our language and it will change the way you think about things that happen.

In aboriginal language you dont only need to speak but you need to know the directions such as east and west at every moment or else it will hard to communicate with each other and because they have trained so much and used it so much in their language they would know exactly where everything is and people who did not have that would not know it and basically this shows that they think different because the aboriginal people use the directions they have learned to think. they need to use their language to know where to go so they think about their language basically.

This article was very interesting and it showed me a lot about how much you get influenced by the point from where you are from. if you are from a european country such as germany you would think differently of objects then that you do when you are from an england or america. This article shows me a lot of countries and language how you think and it makes me realize that I think completely different then the others but we still use the same words.

Me and Mo had our TOK presentation about how music affects our mood and perception. We chose this topic because we were both interested in music and we had 2 different views on music. We focused mainly on how the music affects are mood and perception because that is the biggest impact that music had on people in our view.

I think that we could have done more research overall and we had other areas that we did not include in the presentation that we should have put in the presentation. Such as our focus question was about mood and perception but what we mostly focused on in the presentation was the mood. We could have used this website to get to know more about perception of music. http://www.musicperception.org/

Also the part that we were talking about mood we used songs of movies only that tried to change our mood during the movies but we did not consider to put a normal music song in there and see if that would give out the same point as that the music in the movies did. We did not open it up we only sticked to 4 types of moods but actually there are way more types of moods that we have and all kinds of different music that would affect that mood. http://colorsuz.hubpages.com/hub/Ten-Songs-For-Ten-Different-Moods

Music is such a broad genre that we could have done way more about but we needed to stick with our question and try to be within the time limit which was also a issue for us. I personally think that if we had spend more time on researching of others people opinion our presentation would have been way better then that it was now cause we mostly used our opinion throughout the whole presentation.

Overall for the first presentation i think we had some pretty strong points but at other parts they were a bit weak and we could have improved on that. For the next presentation there is a lot to be improved on and if we use the criteria while we are searching for information i think we could have gotten a way better grade then we did right now.

After the 9/11 video my question is.
To what extent is USA hiding information for the people?

The 9/11 video changed my view completely on it. This is because all of this what has been shown on the video and what happened connects all together. How could it be that on that day exactly all those things were happening so that they could not stop a hijack of a plane? America is smarter then that they should always have fighter jets ready for if something like this happens because not all of them will be used at that event so there were enough jets left to go and stop the hijack or the planes that crashed into the building.

It also made no sense that the other building that was right net to it did not get hit but also crashed into pieces. and it did not fall in a normal way it fell from the middle to the outside which looked exactly like a planned destruction.

All of this made me think about how much information the government actually has which they do not show to the people even though its a free country. The 9/11 “accident” would not be the only information that the government is hiding from the people there will be a lot more things that are being hidden but the question is how much?

The video from last week was very interesting for me. I am not religious at all and this video enforced it even more. It showed that christianity and a lot of other religions have the same belief basically but it is just put in all different words or different names. All of these religions were just part of astronomy and that is what shocked me the most. There must be a person who came up with these stories but how did he think of all these things that the video showed. Me personally have no problem with religions. I think that people should believe in what they think is the best way to go. If they want to be religious because its part of the family then go for it. but i will never change and say yes i believe in God. With the imagination now it was weird to see when they were talking about god stealing money but it is sort of the true answer because the church is collecting money from the people that believe in it. but where does all this money go? not to a charity… it stays in the church so that the priests there can survive.

All of this could also lead to one specific question:

Who is actually GOD?

In the bible it always talks about how God helped so many people and that he was so great. But at this moment a lot of people that do believe in him need help with their life. For example there are a lot of homeless people that do believe in him and they have no roof and no one that is taking care of them. Shouldn’t god be there for them?

All these religions are based on the same thing and they all connect to just one thing and that connection is just the Sun? Did they all originate from the same point and all do basically the same thing but just tell it in a different story? It really made me think of it because i am not religious at all but it still seemed to me that all these religions had a different point of view and are made up from all other perspectives. Could it be that there was just ONE person who made up all these religions but just changed the names and the story for a little bit.
