Mark Antony’s Speech
Title of play: Julius Caesar
By Shakespeare
Act3 Scnene1 lines (254-275)
Explanation for each slide and what they mean
The first slide is a person with a bleeding earth in their eye. ‘O, pardon me, thou bleeding piece of earth,’(line254). Earth refers to the bleeding corpse of Caesar. Antony is expressing how he feels so tragic about Caesar’s death. Since Antony was a very close to Caesar, his feelings are raging against the ones that killed his friend. The conspirators are referred to ‘butchers’, since they stabbed Caesar very violently numerous times. This connects to the second slide, where there is a reaper. The butchers to e seem to be more of a reaper, since they drag Caesar to death.
The third slide shows a man standing infront of lightning with his arms spread apart. He is confessing his anger against the sky or a god-like existence. Mark Antony’s has been expressing his feeling that he must revenge to the conspirators.
The fourth slide is a hand that is covered in blood. ‘Woe to the hand that shed this costly blood!’ The conspirators who stabbed Caesar many times would have their hands covered in blood. Which can also mean that conspirators have stepped in to the dark side of themselves to become criminals.
The fifth slide is a picture of a crying person. This is representing how Caesar is miserable and his tears are coming with no pause. He is expressing his own feelings as he cries for his trustful friend, Caesar that has passed away.
How the task helped you understand (and possibly interpret or further research) the speech – or look at it in a new way.
This task was very useful for me, since I get to interpret things better when something is a visual. From choosing images and thinking why I chose those, made me consider how the images explain the meaning in more depth.
Any difficulties (English or Tech-based)
It was not difficult technology based, although I did have some difficulties interpreting the ideas from Mark Antony’s speech, since I needed to search some of the words.
Suggestions for change/ other tasks relating to ‘Julius Caesar’.

Reflection – Figure Drawing (Painting)
On this painting unit, I have been focussing on techniques by Nelly Francoise. My one week drawing was a drawing that I did by being influenced on Nelly’s works. The face went well, with the colorful use of tones. Although the hair was too long, since my measuring was not accurate enough, compared to the size of the head. For my next (Two week) drawing, I should be more cautious when measuring, and find more tonal effects that I can express by using vivid colors.

Reflection: Shade and Tone
In this unit, we particularly focused on adding Shade and Tone to figure drawings. These techniques helped to advance the quality of my drawings of figure. The figure looks more realistic, and detailed with just adding shade and tone. By looking at some of the artworks of artists that used Chiaroscuro, had used the shade and light effectively, which lead them to a great success in drawing realistic images.
When we started using chalk, my drawings were to solid and the use of chalk was just drawing lines. Although, as I improved on the applying the chalk side ways in order to create a different style to improve on creating realistic figure looks. The advantage of this was, that the figure was closer to a 3D look, and the side of the chalk was easier to control the contrast of shades.
I learnt that I must consider “Is the black dark as this black or lighter?”. By thinking like that you can get closer to what you really want to create in your drawing. The lightness or darkness of even a small part could be very important. The tone is one of the most important parts that must be considered while drawing figures, and esspecially when using chalk.
I need to improve on the use of white chalk. I think I have improved a lot on using the black chalk, but I use too much white. Therefore the white stands out too much in my drawing and stands out too much on itself, which creates a odd look.

Born on November 24th 1864, in a aristocratic family. Lautrec’s legs were both broken when he was little, which did not get cured correctly. Due to this syndrome, when Lautrec became an adult, he was only 1m 54cm. Due to this, Lautrec absorbed into his art. In his early life in France, he lived with his mother. From that time he was showing his incredible talen in art. He did a lot of sketches on his workbooks.
As he started to engross in his art, he became a post-impressionist painter, art nouveau illustrator, and lithographer. During the mid 1890s he created many illustrations to “Le Rive’, a magazine.
He was not a very intelligent academically, although his artwork impressed people that later helped him become a admirable artist.
Throughout his career Lautrec created 737 canvases, 275 water colors, 363 prints and posters, 5084 drawings, some ceramic and stained glass works, and many other. His art style was influenced by impressionist (manet and Degas), and also Japanese wood prints, called ‘Ukiyo-e’. These were what created a unique style in his style. He often used long brushes which would often leave much of the board, which are painted very slow.
Lautrec has not just sticked to one particular type of art. There is a range in his work. Such as some of the portraits and the posters have a complete different taste. In “At the Moulin Rouge” one of his techniques of using linear, and emphasizing the outline is very effective. It has speed and casualness.
These ideas came to Lautrec, when he was regularly visiting the dance halls and nightclubs of Montmatre. He used the people on stage and customers at the place as models of his art pieces. He tool the wild and artistic atmosphere of the clubs.
In “At the Moulin Rouge”, it is created by using oil painting. The setting is at the cabaret, where it shows the theatrical mood, with the interesting choice of color and light that is used. His has a gestural touch for his compositions and flat outlines of his subjects. These techniques come from the influence of Japanese art.
Techniques
From “Troupe de mile elegantine affiche”, we can see that his touch is very light and quick. HE uses the contrast of light and dark (thick) lines to show some details. Although it is not detailed too much, from the contrast of lines, we can exactly see the facial expressions of the dancers.
He has drawn many dancers in posters. Most of them have worn dresses that have curly and fluffy texture. These are again expressed with fast, thin and curly lines.
Another technique is drawing the other people in the background black, or in shadows. This is to put the viewer of his art to concentrate on the main (centre) person in his drawing.
Lautrec has used a lot of yellow in his works. The yellow has a contratst between black. Black is another often used color, which is seen as the color of the main object’s clothing. The lack clearly shows the figure’s irregular bodyline. Some parts of the body are very thin and widens out at the end of the clothing. Black and yellow is very effective in “Moulin Rouge”

1848 Revolutions

The Hungarian revolution ended by a failure. There is more than 10,000 people killed. The revolution did not change anything at all, it is the same as it was, when they started the revolution.

It started off on March 15th, because of Lajos Kossuth’s, a nationalist who is a journalist gave a speech, that created a mass protest. He was the chief of the lower house of the parliament. Hungary is a nationalist, that was a self wanted government. Although other countries did not want to be ruled by Hungary. There are also urban problems of the increase of unemployed.
On March 3rd Kossuth first demanded independence. Then Matternich was forced to resign, from the Magyar nationalists, who demanded for political autonomy. The emperor remained to be the top of the country, although he has no power.

The April laws were made to become independent from Austria. In June, the Czech republic requested independence, but the Austrians took away their independence and they put them back to were they were before, with military force.
The same thing happened to Hungary. Emperor Ferdinand of Austria decided to take over Hungary’s independence too, so they will still remain in power of Hungary. Therefore, Hungary’s independence is gone and the April Laws were abolished.
As a result this Revolution did not make any success. Because of this failure, many have died and are still suffering from unemployment.

Reflection for Graphic Design Unit
For this unit I made a restaurant card, a TIME magazine cover, a game cover, a food package, and a diary cover. I made all of them from photoshop except for the business card I used Illustrator.
As I did each of these designs, I learnt different techniques to use. And I think I really got better at using graphic design applications compared to the first time I used these software. Although there is still so many techniques and tools that I have to learn.
For the first three projects my main source of tools I used on photoshop was rendering, cutting, adjusting the opacity and arranging fonts. Especially for the Game Design, I used a lot of rendering. My game cover was on Mystery games, so I used rendering for the background image of a woman screaming, and on the suspicious aspects of the murder. These had a good effect of mysterous look. Also on this project I learned how to use the pen tool to render on different layers.
For the magaine cover I adjusted the opacity quite often because the skate shoes had to have the most impact so I made the opacity lower for the money (ice) and the crack on the ice to blend in.
In the Food Package design project I spend most time on it. Since my template was a complex shape so I had to measure the size of each side many times. I used a lot of the pen tool once again. Also I sed scanning to put my picture that I drew into the computer. I used scanning on the game cover design, the food package design, and the diary cover design. I drew a lemon tart and scanned it and colored in. The coloring in was very hard since I had to express the shadows and lighting with the colors on photoshop. For the lighting I used the smudge tool, which was a tool I started to use in this project.
In the diary project I used transporting layers to another document, and how to control many layers at one time.
