My Grandpa (Mother’s Side)
My grandpa, Seiya Ueno was born in Takayama city in Okayama (Now Takayachou) on November 26th 1912. His father, Yonezou Ueno (Yashikawa before he was adopted to the Ueno family) was the mayor of the small city and that was why he was born there.
He was sent to boarding school when he was around 12 to 13 years old that was in Kyoto and he stayed there until he was around 20 years old.
He was working for the tax section of the government was sent to China, living in the foreigner’s area during the World War II so he did not have to go to war. He came back to Okayama around the time when the war was about to end. This was because is he stayed in China after the war was over, he may have not been able to leave China because Japan lost to the war.
He then came out to Tokyo for work. After a while, because he was not getting any closer to marrying, his boss made him live alone in Kamakura when he was around 44 years old so he would start feeling very alone and marry someone. The plan was a great success. He married my grandma when he was 46 years old.
