Pre Parent Teacher Conference Reflection

What is my best subject now? Why?

My best subject now is Geography and Japanese. In both of the subjects, I am getting decent grades and I understand what we are learning. I think this is because I am very interested in Geography and want to discover more about my language.

What subject do I need to improve? How?

It would be English and Physics because I find it very difficult to understand and I am not fully satisfied with the grades I get. So, what I will do is to pay attention in class and ask questions, when it’s necessary.

Semester 1: Report Card

Q1. What are you most proud of in your semester one results?
A: To be honest, I am not proud of my report card this semester. I did good in some areas but I found that I didn’t try hard in everything. The places I was expecting to get low grades at, I got high. Such as, music. So in those ways, I was happy.
Q2. Given the comments of your teachers, what do you most need to work on?
A: I need to focus more in class and not get distracted by others. I also need to ask questions in class and not be scared of speaking out.
Q3. How will you work on #2 above?
A: I will sit next to people I’m sure I won’t get distracted from and try to concentrate in class. I will also be confident and raise my hand whenever I come up with something to say.
Q4. How do you feel about your Approaches to Learning (ATL) feedback?
A: Surprisingly, my ATL grades were very good compared to the numbers. However, I find that the numbers are more important so I still need to work hard.
Q5. Review the learning goals you established in Semester One. In what ways have you met them? What remains to be done?
A: In the start of the semester one, my goal was to get better in subject I was not best at such as, music. Looking at my reports card this year, I am happy to say that I was able to achieve that. However, I still haven’t accomplished all my goals yet. One of my other goal was to pay attention in class. I still get distracted easily so I need to make sure I listen in class.

Mother Tongue Week: Hangul (Korean)

Field Studies: Trip to Shiga/Kyoto

For our field studies this year, we went to Shiga and Kyoto. We went from October 17th to October 21th so technically for 5 days. Throughout this trip, I experienced new things and was able to gain friendship with people I’m not usually close to. On our first day, we met early in the morning and got to Shiga by shinkansen. The shinkansen ride was very entertaining. We listened to music and our whole shuttle was filled with laughter. When we got to Green Park Santo, we were assigned to our cottages. Our cottage was very big and had all the supplies we needed. My room-mates were Rikako, Sakurako, Maud, Rino and Bree. That night, we played volleyball and tennis outside the court. The place we stayed had nothing around but it was great spending my whole day with my friends. On our second day we went hiking. The hiking only took an hour and a half so it wasn’t that bad. During our hike, we saw the beautiful view of Shiga. It was very special because it was something you can’t see in Yokohama. Even though the hike was short, I would never go back there again. The third day and the fourth day were tiring. We went kayaking and to Kyoto. It was my frist time kayaking so I was very nervous. However, it wasn’t that bad. To be honest, the Kyoto trip was very boring. All we did was see temples. The temples were very pretty and I wish I lived in one. The fifth day, we went back to Yokohama first thing in the morning. It was great to be back and eat delicious foods. This year’s trip was very fun. I liked how we were able to have lot’s of free time because I find it better than being constantly busy. Also I’m glad that I was able to learn how to kayak and to make a fan out of bamboo. Over all, I think I spent valuable times in Shiga.

What is Progress? Reflection

Q. What is Progress?

A. Progress is how much the country is devloping and is ahead. For example, Nepal is a LEDC country. It has a large birth rate with a HDI of 0.43 and is slowly progressing. On the other hand, Japan is a MEDC country. Japan has a low birth rate but has a very high life expectancy (82.17). You can define the progress by looking at the development indicators.

Should we have Field Studies?

Yes, I think we should have field studies. I think field studies help you to get away from your family and games. At home when I’m bored, I tend to go on the computer often. I can study or read but, for me computer is much more exciting. I know that’s really bad for me bad I can’t help it. So, I think field studies helps you to be with your friends and at the same time you can enjoy having fun. On the first day, I missed my mom very much but from the next day my friends made me forget about those sadness. I think field studies is fabulous because we get to learn new things. On this year’s field studies, I learnt to canoe, mountain bike and rock climbing. It was a really good experiment learning new stuff. I lastly learnt that friendship is very important, without friends this trip would of been very boring. I like my friends very much and thank you.
