After watching Barry Schwartz ted talk about the choices that life provides us right now, it made me think of the concept if more is less. In this ted talk, Schwartz tries to give us a message of the possible negative effects that you have when increasing the number of choices a human has. The concept of having more can be worse is very true, as Schwartz mentions several cases for this situation. For example, the story of buying the jeans is used as a metaphor as the opportunities that life offers. And in this case, he ends unsatisfied. Through other various examples we can take an important message from this video, which may help us in career choices or just life choices. The big message is that all humans need a metaphorical fish bowl. Schwartz claims that giving freedom of choice to humans is the same thing as breaking the fish bowl. Now, you can see that the result is that the fish will suffer and wont end up happy. Now, you must be thinking that Schwartz is bias in his opinion. However, in the general question of “is having more choice good?” he agrees, and he states in the ted talk he would purposely choose the minorties vote, which is why I would say this doesn’t have bias.

I think are website is effective on the CSR of nike. I think the main factor of this is because of the language that we use and also the background creates a serious tension. We also have enough information to support our points creating depth in our ideas.

I think our website is balanced and not bias. This is because the points that we talk about mostly the pros and cons. For example when we discuss about the engagement of Nike’s CSR, we say the do well in parts such as treatment of employments but Nike also has negatives that their doing as well.
I usually think that group work is very effective, but for this project I don’t think it was. One of the reasons for this is that we could not go on Wix.com at the same time. This means that only 1 person could work on the website at a time which made it difficult to work efficiently. I also thought this time we didn’t separate the work evenly. I thought this because when some people were working we also had people doing not much.

I think CSR is a good strategy for corporations. This is because by doing CSR you are able to have a good reputation creating a larger chance of consumers buying your consumers. Also if you have a good reputations, other corporation will want to do business but if you have a bad reputation and everyone knows your doing horrible things on the side, other corporations might not do business with you.

I think YIS has a CSR because they do a lot of volunteers and fundings to other places. For example after the earthquake, YIS bought a school in Ishinomaki to help them recover from the earthquake. Another example is that YIS helps the “sanagitachi” which is the homeless people in Yokohama. YIS donates clothes and food and sometimes people go their and serve the food that we made.

1. Climate is the most important factor affecting weathering.
No. We would say climate is not the most important factor affecting weathering because there are other strong factors to weathering. For example if a rock is not in a wet area, weathering will not be common. This is because water is a huge factor in weathering. Water can because many types of weathering such as freezethaw weathering , physical weathering, chemical weathering and many more.
If rocks are in a condition where it collides with other material often; you will see weathering as well. For example if rocks are in a river it will cause the rocks to become smaller/change in shape because they collide with each other. Also if rocks are in a windy environment, the wind will carve rocks over time. This happens because wind picks up sand and wears away at bigger rocks.
But climate is a factor of weathering as well. If the climate is warm and wet, there will be more biological weathering and chemical weathering. If the climate is cold, freezethaw will happen.

2. Mineral composition, grain size of the rock and the presence of lines of weakness affect the rate of weathering
Yes
The mineral composition affects the rate of weathering because the strength of the bonds affect the strength of a rock. If the chemical bonds are weak, weak weathering can break down the rock.
The rate of weathering increases due to the grain size of the rock because if the grain is large, the density of the rock is higher. When the rock has high density, the rock will become heavier, causing the rock to stay in its shape. For example, if a sedimentary rock under water; it has a high density, it is more likely to stay in its original position unlike less dense rocks.

Today I took a survey about how many slaves have across the world which you can access here. It was interesting to find out that I had 42 slaves that I had no aware about. I felt disappointed about this and realized how some of are daily products are made by or somehow have connections to slaves. For example a lot of our body washes and electronic gadgets have connections to many slaves. This made me realize how lucky I am compared to people who have to work without getting. Now I will try and cut on some of the products to reduce the number of slaves I have.

 Goal Setting in Grade 9-10
Yokohama International School

Step 1: Identifying strengths and areas for improvement
•	Think about your achievement last year in school and in the first few weeks of this school year and make a list of your strengths as well as areas for improvement.
•	List them in the table below.

Strengths:
Example: I work well with others

I work well with others
I pay attention in class
I have many ideas in different ranges.

Areas for improvement:
Example: I need to pay more attention in class

I need to be more organized
I don’t have a wide range of vocabulary
I can’t stay still

Step 2: Organizing the information
Looking at the table, identify the top 3 strengths and the top 3 areas for improvement.

Step 3: Identifying my goals
Over the next semester, I want to …. (Insert goal here)
	Aim for three achievable goals over the next semester.
	Be very specific in your goals. Do not state, “I want to do better” or “I want better grades”.
	Be specific about what you would like to improve. For example, “I would like to improve my understanding of the concept of change in Humanities or “I would like to learn 100 new words in French.”

Goal #1:
Over the next semester, I want to …. Read a novel

Goal #2:
Over the next semester, I want to …. Be more organized and don’t forget homework

Goal #3:
Over the next semester, I want to …. Be able to sit still in class

Step 4: Developing strategies to achieve my goals and ways of measuring them to know if I have achieved them. For example:
Goal# 1: Over the next semester, I want be less distracted by my computer.
To achieve this goal I will … (these are my strategies)
1.	Make eye contact with the person who is speaking
2.	Close the computer down even if the teacher hasn’t told me to do so because I know that I listen better that way
3.	Never have anything open which the teacher hasn’t asked me to open
I will know I have reached my goal when…
•	These are how I will measure whether I have achieved it
•	See Y Chart on PPT slide to help you

Step 4: Developing strategies
Goal # 1: To achieve this goal I will…
Step 1: find a book

Step 2 : try and read everyday regularly

Step 3: understand the grammar used in the book

I will know that I have reached my goal when . . .
I read a book and understood it.

It feels like…

paper

It sounds like…

look

It looks like….

A book

Goal # 2: To achieve this goal I will…
Step 1: make some sort of note type of thing where I can write my homework and look at it easily

Step 2 : actually write stuff in the note

Step 3:carry it around

I will know that I have reached my goal when . . . The number of times I forget my homework decreases

It feels like…

A paper

It sounds like…
coat

It looks like….

A paper

Goal # 3: To achieve this goal I will…
Step 1
Reduce the drumming in class

Step 2 : stop moving around in my chair

Step 3: find something that will keep me still

I will know that I have reached my goal when . . .
I stop moving in my chair all the time
It feels like…

plastic

It sounds like…

pill

It looks like….

A chair
