Cricket Homework
Question 1.
Watch the above video. The commentator said “Camera’s always cloud the issue”. Do you agree with the comment? Why/Why not? (small paragraph max.)
**”Cloud the issue” means that the issue becomes less clear and more confusing.
I agree with that comment because if the judges judge the game, and when they look at the camera and if the judge is wrong, they need to talk it over, and make there decisions. This will waste more time, but I believe it is sill good to have a camera there, so they can capture the movements that are hard for the umpires to see.
Question 2.
List 2 main points of argument FOR the use of technology in cricket. List 2 main points of argument AGAINST.
**Command Term ‘LIST’:Give a sequence of brief answers with no explanation.
Agree: There will be no mistake towards the judge. People won’t fight.
Disagree: Nothing to discuss about (right or wrong judgement). Bored with perfection.
Question 3.
State whether you are For or Against the use of technology in cricket and explain your answer in a sentence or two.
I am against the use of technology in cricket because one of the main reason the sport cricket is, interesting is how the ‘umpire’ judges the game. The judge of the umpire is always by luck and if we have technology to it, and all the judge is precise, i believe the game will be a bore.
Question 4.
Search on Youtube for an example in which the use of Hawkeye, Heat Cameras or super slow motion cameras could have aided (or did aid) the umpire in an LBW decision. Please explain what happened in the video in detail showing your knowledge of the LBW rule and correct use of terminology.
The video showed how the umpire decided it was not a LBW, since he thought it hit the wicket first, but when we take a good look on the Hawkeye camera, it followed the rule and hit the pad first, then the cricket.
Question 5.
Below is a photo of Merv Hughes. Is he fit? Use your knowledge gained from Mr Noon’s lesson and explain in detail. (one paragraph).
Merv Hughes may not look that fit with his body shape, but he is probably fit. Maybe not in every sports but cricket in particular. Merv Hughesn probably done cricket a lot for him to be fit in his body shape. Being fit does not always mean that you have to be fit in all of the sports. If your body is used to a specific sport, you are already fit.

Your answers were accurate and detailed on some occasions. Your cricket terminology was mixed up a little in some areas. Well done on efforts and skill learning in class.
