I think that you did a good job explaining your interpretation of this poem. This is a fairly complicated and confusing poem, and I had to read it several times to understand it. I think that this poem’s message is that you have to overcome your fears. The girl in the poem was a bit scared perform in front of her audience, but she stood up and performed anyways. I think that this is a poem that try’s to motivate, and encourage people to stand up for themselves.

I really liked your poem, because the concept was really similar to mine. I think anyone can find out that your poem is about talking about a girl who is trying to sing in front of everyone at the high school graduation, and that she is shy. But I don’t think that’s not what the poet was trying to tell. I think the poet was trying to talk about all the occasions where you might feel uncomfortable. It even might be in your room when you’re by yourself. And the poet is telling you, to “Sing, love, sing your heart out!” which I think means that don’t think too far and to feel pride in yourself. I think you chose a excellent poem.

I think this is a bit confusing, but mainly is about how few people there are that are brave enough to stand up in front of a large crowd and not cower down. It shows an example from the point of view of a total stranger in the crowd, who admires the courage of the girl in front singing. The song might have a meaning in itself, from how it is in French, and its title being “Our Father”. Eventually, the poem shifts its focus a bit more to the person in the crowd, only watching, because the poet does not have the courage to walk up on to the stage and display a talent of some sort.

This poem talks about a girl that is singing Our Father in french. This poem is very dramatic and a sad poem. It is filled with a bit of sadness, but near the ending, the poet adds another person, who loves the girl, and adds more sadness to the poem. When the poet adds “on the edge of tears”, it really is touching to hear that. The poem has many poetic devices and is a really great poem to read. This poem is not very subtle which is great so it can be easier to read. I really like this poem and it really made me sad. I don’t agree when you said it was hard to analyze; it was very easy to read and it really made me think. Great Poem Yongy!

I have to agree, this poem is really hard to analyse. But, I do not entirely agree with your interpretation. I do not feel like that it is about a girl who is shy, and really nervous about her singing. Because it does not really include anything about the girl and how she feels. Though I feel like that the girl is maybe an outsider, and that it is her first time singing in front of a crowd. But not shy or nervous, but perhaps more confident, not in an egotistic way. But I wonder about the point of view the poet is talking about. I wonder if Grennan is one of her parents, as Grennan says ‘and I wonder can she see me in the dark here, years from belief, on the edge of tears,’ but I believe that this perspective could also be maybe a past lover. But overall, this poem is really interesting, and you have a good interpretation of it.

I think the style of starting the introduction is great. Our year was indeed fantastic, right? I think that the linking to the Sandra Cisneros’ website was very effective for the audience and the readers of this blog post. It is because from your blog post, it seems that I want to take a look of the book. This blog post was also good in the point that you influenced the audience to read the book. Overall I think this blog post is very effective. It reflects what you have learnt in this school year. There is nothing to improve, but I guess I have to say something… So I just think you should make different paragraphs. Still your reflection was marvelous!

You have written an excellent post Yongwon, and I enjoyed reading your reflection about your learning. Your ability to communicate has been very important in the activities we have done this year. I have often noticed that you are a leader when working with others, and also a role modle. Other people learn from the example you set.
