Science Investigating Mining Reflection

Which parts of criteria D and E were you most successful at demonstrating in the assessment?

In criteria D, science inquiry I think that I was successful in writing down the procedure, clearly. But I think that I had some part missing in m procedure. In criteria E, I was successful in making the pie chart, but my table was missing a header. Next time I would want to look carefully.

Which parts could you have improved on?

I think that I have to improve on taking more time on writing down the conclusion. I think that if I took more time in writing down the conclusion I had better scores.

Art Reflection

This is my line drawing

This is my line drawing

In this unit of “making a mark”, line drawing, I have completed a line drawing of Himeji Castle at the background, the Ishigaki (Japanese stone wall). Our unit question was “How can we communicate visually?” and our significant concept  was “line can be used to convey shape, texture and tone.”

I had huge confidence when I finished this drawing, but I think there are a lotos improvements for me to make with my art skills. As shown, I think that this part of the trees does not show the difference of the tone. I think that if I showed the tone a little bit more, like the other part shown, I think that it would be able to predict easier that there are different trees and not the same tree. Also, I think that the shape of the tree is not that tree like. I think that the shape of the tree is too mixed up. Next time I would want to improve the shape of the trees, and the difference of the tone of the tree.

I started off drawing the background first. I only used the picture of Himeji Castle as a reference. I think that I succeeded in drawing the background even though I only used the picture as a reference. I think that I was lucky enough to succeed with the background with only the photo as a reference. Because when I used the Van Gogh line drawing as one of my references for my mid-ground and fore ground I was able to get a better idea of drawing the picture. When I started to draw my mid-ground it was way easier drawing for me. I was able to get a better idea of which line drawing techniques I should use for that particular part. Also, what helped me in helping me draw my art was, blur my eyes or looking it from further. I think that stopping for one moment and looking at the picture blurred was really important for me to successfully complete this project. I think that made me realize which parts I had to make it darker or which kind of overlapping line techniques I should use.

If I had another chance drawing line drawing I would use some strategies that were effective in drawing this picture. One of the effective strategies was, not drawing the line in the same way as the object or side next to it. This helped me by, even though you are not drawing the outline of the object, the person who is looking at the drawing can know the difference. I think by using this technique it looks more natural. Also, another technique that really helped me was, changing the tone naturally. I think changing the tone little by little it looks more object like.

This project was really enjoyable and fun for me. If I had another chance of doing this, I would want to challenge with a different colored marker, and see what will happen. Also, I think to make a better drawing I have to become better at choosing the best type of line that will mach with the object.

Technology Reflection

1. How many criteria do you think it is useful to have?  Why?  Can you have too many or too few?

I think that 4 criteria will be the best number of criterias. I think like this because if we have 5 criterias I think that the criterias will be balanced.
2. Which of the criteria the class came up with do you think is the most important?  Why?

The trailer has to persuade the audience to read the actual book. I think that this is important because if the trailer is not persuasive, the trailer would have no meaning, and that would mean it failed.
3. Do you feel that the class left out any really important criteria? What ones?

I think that our class had covered most of the good criterias.
4. Do you think the process we used (research, small group agreement, then whole class agreement) is a good way to develop criteria – why or why not?

I think that the criterias have been improved a lot because we have made it by small groups. I think that this really helped in improveing the criteria.

My Goals this semester

I think that the learner profile that I have to work on is caring and open minded. I think like this because I think that when I do work with other people, I get too concentrated onto the idea I have and not to the idea that the other people have. I think that it would become a important thing for me because if I take other people’s ideas I think that I would be able to combine the idea with mine and make it better. Also, I think that I have to work on caring. I think that I have to work on caring because sometimes I forget about other people, and concentrate too much on what I want to do. I think that if I am able to do these learner profiles I will become better as a person.

The school value that I have to work on is “We shall be responsible in our action” I think that this is a really important goal for me. At house and in school I am always disorganized. I think that disorganized things could affect my soccer plays. And not only that I think that it is important to be organized, responsible, for school. I think that it could affect my grades. But I think that it does not only affect the numbers of what I am, but who I am, I think that it will change me positively as a person.
