Science Reflection

Shin

I think that I was able to show scientific skills. I think I searched a good amount of information about how the Nuclear power plant generate electricity and how uranium facilitates atomic bombs. I think that I did use some scientific language, but I think I could have used more. The most challenging thing for me in this project, was that it was really difficult to understand what each scientific word meant. If I had another chance to do this project I am interested in doing Gadolinium. It looks interesting for me, because it is contained in the MRI system.

Science Investigating Mining Reflection

Which parts of criteria D and E were you most successful at demonstrating in the assessment?

In criteria D, science inquiry I think that I was successful in writing down the procedure, clearly. But I think that I had some part missing in m procedure. In criteria E, I was successful in making the pie chart, but my table was missing a header. Next time I would want to look carefully.

Which parts could you have improved on?

I think that I have to improve on taking more time on writing down the conclusion. I think that if I took more time in writing down the conclusion I had better scores.

Science Essay Reflection and my Science Essay

This is my essay:

Black Death

Black Death was a major disease during the medieval era, and had affected the population. It was also called Bubonic Plague, or Pest in Germany, and had killed a lot of people through a large part of time and it did not have a cure for a long time.

The Black Death was started from Asia and it had spread through the silk road and through ships and finally had reached Europe, and Africa. Black Death was an bacterium that were in the rodents blood, and when the fleas sucked the rodents blood it had transported to another animal. It was transported really fast because, rodents is an animal that lives in dirty places and could live near to a human. After 8 days 80% of the people that have a black death would die.

Black Death became really major during the 1400s, and as an estimate the world’s population decreased to 450 million, to between 350 million to 375 million. But in 1603 the Black Death had returned to London, and it had killed 38,000 people from London. Not only that it had halved Paris’s population and killed 40% of Egypt’s population. The Black Death became this much of a huge problem because the government had no time to cope with this problem because of its speed of transportation. The Black Death had affected people through a lot of times. When people thought that the Black Death was gone, it always had appeared in different places in different times. The government had a slow react on this disease because, most of the time the governors were also infected.

Black death was a disease that had no cure for a long time. At first people had thought that fire was a good way to keep this disease away from the houses. The people in the medieval era made fire at the corner of their house and prayed for black death not to come. They were also told that it would be better not to eat meat, and to avoid outdoor activities. Which was a clever advise for people to survive. If the people in the medieval era had not listen to this there had been more people dying, and a more possibility to get Black Death. In the medieval era they were not able to find out that they had Black Death when when even though they were infected, and had a short amount of time to react with black death. Black Death was a disease we were not able to see the bacterium. This was a huge problem for that age. All of the doctors and people who invent medicines need to know what the bacterium is and what it is like, because they can’t give out to people random medicine and get money with it. This was one of the reasons why Black Death is a deadly disease for a long time, and still is for some regions that hasn’t got the knowledge, or don’t have vaccine or antibiotics for Black Death. The first people who found the bacterium of the black death was Kitazato Shibazaburou and Yelsin. Also, it had took a long time for people to find out that a specific person had Black Death. These lateness of finding out Black Death effected how people became. Because of the Black Death, people were not able to work outside and they had to kill many rodents, and when they had killed the rodents they had to find a space to exterminate all of the dead rodents. Now we know that there are quite a lot of types of antibiotics are good for Black Death. Also, our medical science has been growing and we had invented a vaccine for this disease.

We have improved a lot. In the olden days we were not able to know what the bacterium of this disease looked like. But now we are able to know what the bacterium looks like and we even have a cure for this, unstoppable thought disease. This is an huge improvement because we have no worries of halve of our country’s population dying, or we have no fear towards rodents. Now we could just go to our nearest hospital and get some antibiotics that is good for Black Death. This is all because we now know the bacterium, we have a cure, and signs for this disease.

Overall, Black Death was a threat for the people that lived in the medieval era. People thought that Black Death was Devil from hell. Black Death is an disease that always appear again. And every time it had effected our population. But now with the power of science we are able to fight with this deadly disease.

I am proud that I had now know that how Black death spread through the world. Also, I am very proud that how this disease had political, social, environmental, cultural effects toward the people in that age. I think that

I found somethings difficult in this essay. I found hard finding information for this disease. I think that this disease was really difficult because this was a major disease in the olden days and not really now. It was also difficult to understand language that is scientific.

I think that this way of learning is better because I was able to learn more. Also I was able to have interest into the topic way faster than regular way of learning.

Overall I think that this essay was really fun.

Science Food test

Food test

View more presentations from 17hamadas.
I had spend all about 3 hours or more in this assessment. I had learned that when it is different foods, the digestive systems change a little. It is interesting what is happening in your body that makes my body stronger. I am proud that I have done an assessment and in the assessment I am proud that I now know the nutrients in the rice cracker and able to make one whole presentation about it. In this assessment, we only did the experiment once, so next time I would want to do the experiment a few more times and get a better result.

General Science-Water rocket project

Aim: Find wind resistance and fly the rocket high

Back round knowledge: This water rocket sounds really complex, but this works really simple. First we put in the water to the bottle, then we pump in and pressurize the bottle. Then obviously the water would not mix with the air so the water splashes out, and by water splashes up the rocket fly`s up.

Prediction: I thought that our rocket would fly the furthest, because our rocket`s design was really close to voyager 1. I thought that there would be less air resistance from other rockets.

Method: Our group has used about 2 periods for designing. We made our rocket as close to our design that was close to voyager 1.

Procedure:
1) Plan the design of the rocket.
2) Cut off bottom half of bottle No. 2 (keep everything on the bottom half except for the bottom end) and stick that onto the upper half of bottle No. 1. This will now serve as the bottom half of the finished project.
3) Cut off the upper half of bottle No. 3 (everything except for the cap and mouthpiece), and stick that onto the upper half of what is the rocket at this stage of construction.
4) Make a cone-like structure with cardboard paper, and stick that onto the top of the rocket.
5) Make fins with cardboard paper (DO NOT use foam sheets), and stick them onto the sides of your rocket.
6) Decorate your water rocket.

Material:

3 plastic 500ml bottle
1 foam sheet
1 card board
Duct tape

Conclusion: I think that this launch was not done properly. There were different wind, every time and the height calculator or something was not that detailed so there was a difference. The rocket that flew the highest was a rocket that I thought would not fly well. I learned that there is not much a difference between a pet bottle and a rocket that was added some things to it.sciencerocketdatatable-300x164
