Solo Music Performance

Filed under: Music — 17hongs at 2:19 pm on Monday, December 5, 2011

We performed a solo music performance in music class. We’ve been practicing it during our class time as well. I changed the song that I am going to play recently, so I am not really satisfied with my own performance. But, I got to know myself better during this performance. I really wanted to do these kind of performance ^^ So overall, it was a great and excellent project~!

I presented the song called “Summer” by Joe Hisaishi. I think this is such a nice song, because when I first heard it, I thought this song is really bright and I just loved it. This is also a song that one of my friend likes. I played this song thinking about that friend.

This is directly played by Joe Hisaishi and I saw a lot of things that I could get better at or improve.

If you would like to play it, here is the music piece. I think beginners can also be good at this song in one week if you spend 30 minutes of your day.

Summer

Some things that I did good

  • I think I did a pretty good job on rhythm. I’ve heard a lot that I should be a music composer, because I am talented in rhythm and composing a music. I’ve never tried to compose a proper music piece, but I am really interested in it and I would love to try it.
Something that I want to improve
  • One of the things that I want to improve is that I was really nervous before, during and after the performance. I think I should practice a lot to make my nervousness less. If I could believe myself that I could do it, I think my nervousness will go down.
  • I want to put more of my emotions on to piano, because my mom said that I play piano without any emotions. Piano is not piano when you just press the button, piano is a instrument that you can express your feeling well with. I think that is really right, because when I see other famous pianist playing, they move their body and their expression changes even in seconds. I think that is the most important thing to be good at piano.
  • I want to control myself, the strength of each note. In music, we talk with some symbols such as crescendo and decrescendo. I think those symbols are there for a meaning and we can’t just ignore them. I’ve been playing piano ignoring them, but from now on I really should try to put some emphasis. I should play each note really carefully and I believe that that will make a wonderful music :)
If I had another chance…
  • If I had another chance to play in solo music performance, I don’t want to change the music. I will choose a certain music and stick with it until the performance. I think I had a little pressure, because I said that I’ve been playing piano for 6 years and I was pretty sure that people will think that I will be perfect. So, I was trying to play hard music piece to just look good. But that wasn’t it.
Things that I learned during this performance!
  • I learned that I should be honest with myself, because sometimes I just want to look good from other people’s view.
  • I learned that even though you play a easy piece, if you play it with every details that is better than playing hard music piece that you can’t play properly.
I might have another chance in this wednesday, little music concert. If I am going to attend there, I am going to try my best to improve these things.
I think it is really important to make your strengths more stronger and make your weakness your strength.
