  1. PE X country unit

    November 19, 2010 by 17jacobsn

We finished our X country unit last week Wednesday. We (6th grade) were practicing every week 2 time for about 1 or 2 months.

What I liked about cross country unit was that we could use our IPods while the practices for cross country day.

I also like that our friend, family and other mom’s and dad’s were there to cheer us on and to do better.

But the thing I think I did best is that I didn’t stop if someone asked me to stop, I kept on going until I reached my goal.

    This is a self assessment:

    APPROACH SELF SCORE
How did you feel you were able to utilize some of the mental strategies such as self talk into your running and understand the importance. (A2) 7/8
How much training we’re you able to do outside of your scheduled PE times? (A3) 6/8
How seriously did you take your goal setting? (D6) 7/8
How do you think you performed during the whole XC unit? (C1) 8/10
I am aware of my strengths and weaknesses in cross country running and I aim to develop this area of learning. (D4/5) 7/8

  2. P.E

    November 13, 2010 by 17jacobsn

This week we had P.E two times as always have. This week on Wednesday we had Cross Country. Cross Country is when you run around Negishi park once or twice. It’s what ever grade you are in. All of middle school has to run two laps around the park (about 2.0 Km). My place was 35th out of 48 but I tried my best so I am really happy about my score.

On Friday we got to play games. When we play games we kids get to choose so on Friday we played Doctor Dodge ball. I love that game. There were 4 teams. The 4 team leaders Kate, Jennifer, Oliver, and Kazuki were the team captains. I was in Jennifer’s group. Each group went against each other. So Jennifer’s group played against Kate’s group, Oliver’s group, and Kazuki’s group. The last game we played Oliver’s and Kazuki’s group against Jennifer’s and Kate’s group. It was so much fun in P.E this week.

  4. My learner profile on Hakuba

    November 11, 2010 by 17jacobsn

I was being open minded while I was eating this toast with egg in it. I thought it was very yummy. After the first bite I could not stop.

I was a risk tacker when I was going down on the rock climbing part. I was scared at the beginning but after I tried it I got more confident. I was still scared but I was just thinking about going down and no matter what happens you are still alive.

That’s how I a risk taker and open minded.

  5. Learning Profile and Travel to Malaysia

    November 8, 2010 by 17jacobsn

    Hi,

I went to Malaysia for my holiday. I went there to visit my friends and my old school. I was caring to my sister because she got hurt and I helped her up. I made sure that she was going to be OK. I was also reflective because I remember the nice times about Malaysia. I told my friends about Japan and they all liked my picture that I brought to Malaysia.  I went to school there and it was a lot of fun getting to see more of my friends that I couldn’t see since I left the school.

I also noticed that a lot of my friends had left just in the two months that I left Malaysia. I was very sad that I couldn’t see them.

  6. My First Thoughts About Field Studies

    November 8, 2010 by 17jacobsn

    Hi,

I think that Field Studies will be fun and we are also going to learn different things, like how to ride a canoe. I am looking forward to field studies because I have never went hot air balooning, canoeing, rock climbing and mountain biking before. The thing I am not really looking forward to is the five hour bus ride. I get so car and bus sick if I am in a car or bus for a very long time. I wish we could go to Hakuba by train.

    Hakuba Field Studies

    Hakuba Field Studies zoom in

What do you expect to do on the field study?
On the first night I expect to make my own food.
What you expect to be the best thing about the field study?

    Going rock climbing
What do you expect to learn on the field study?

How to canoe, and rock climb.

  7. What I liked the best in Field studies

    November 8, 2010 by 17jacobsn

In field studies I liked all the thing that we did (canoeing, mountain biking, river cleaning, hot air ballooning, treasure hunting, ect.). On Thursday (oct. 22) we presented our skits.

The thing that I liked the most was mountain biking. We got to drive through a lot of puddles and I really enjoyed the little walk from the place were we left our bikes to the river were we could drink the water.

I also really enjoyed the skit group I was with (Hye-Won, Ana, and May) We made a skit about 2 pop stars, 1 interviewer and a girl who needed to do the dishes and didn’t want to. May was the girl, Hye-Won was the interviewer, and Ana and I were the 2 pop stars (Ana-MRS. FANTASTIC) (me-MS. FABULOUS).

  8. Investigate Reflection

    November 8, 2010 by 17jacobsn

We are writing about what we have learned during this part of the project. Research, and the Brainstorm.

Screen shot 2010-11-09 at 12.56.17 PM

I  learned that making a good blog means having a lot of picture for a blog post and make it eye catching by the color of your font or the background color or even the font it self. I personally think that I want to include a little more then only pictures and the way you write it I want to include videos and some brainstorms that will help me think of ideas that I will write in my blog.

Screen shot 2010-11-09 at 12.48.14 PMDuring the Research Stage, I learned to include easy language by writing in a language that I want my audience to understand for e.g if my audience were 2nd graders I would write it in an easier language then if my audience were high schoolers. I will also want to include translation so people that don’t speak english will know what I am writing. But that’s only if I want my audience to be Japenese or German or any other language.

  9. What I didn’t enjoy about Field studies

    November 7, 2010 by 17jacobsn

I didn’t really enjoy the river clean-up because we had to go though the river. The river was freezing clod. It felt like the water was about 5 degrees cold. We had to make a chain and cross the river by holing each others hands. The stream of the river came and it got even more clod. In the end all of us were socked.

Thats what I didn’t really enjoy about Field Studies.

  10. What I learned During Field studies

    November 5, 2010 by 17jacobsn

During field studies I learned how to canoe. I also learned that  riding down hill with out holding on brakes even a little before I was so scared that I might fall down and now I am not scared.

I learned that if you go down from the rock climbing you have to lean back and and hold the rope and just go down. I also learned that you are not supposed to touch the metal things which was pretty hard because if you found a place that will be good to climb up there would always come the most metal things.
