  1. Art Reflection Portrait painting

    Describe the progress you have made during this unit. What areas have been easy or challenging?
    In this unit I think that I made a great progress in compare to my self portrait, because my self portrait I think was very good for the first time but than since I had more practice since than I think that the way I turned out was really good. The challenging bits about this unit was the painting and making it smooth and not going out side of the line and using the right brush for certain bit and pieces, because I have always found that one of the hardest things about painting. But often I wouldn’t worry that much but since this was an assigned pice I tried my hardest but still it didn’t turn out as well as I thought it would. The easy bit and pieces about this unit was the sketch and the outline of the drawing/painting because, I had my practice during the self portrait unit.
    Describe the strengths and weaknesses in your work.
    My streghths and weeknesses bout this unit was:
    My weeknesses were the painting and using certain brusshes for ceratin thpart.
    My strength was the outline and drawing.
    Describe how you conveyed the sense of identity, culture or emotion in your painting.

    I conveyed it by showing my country flag (GERMANY) which I really like. Putting some thing about my self that I really like, like the ocean, saturn, guitar, the flute and my school’s logo YIS. My emotion the my painting was sort of sad and happy at the same time. Sad because I miss germany, and happy because I love YIS.

  2. Art Reflection

    1. Describe the design of your print.

    My design is representing the stars and the sun, because I love the evening sky when there are stars out and I can see the lovely sky. I put the sun in it because I love sunny days when we get to play outside and laugh.

    2. Describe how you created your design and what shapes, patterns or inspirations were used.

    I created my design by getting some inpreasions from others images and then I put this all together and made some different things to it because Of my answer in question 1. I use 4 quater circles and on each on them I put at least 5 trangles. These “suns” where at each edge of my corners. For the star I used a star with 4 points (click on link to see an example) because I think 4 edges on a star is easier than 5.

    3. Describe the difficulties you had in this project.

    The difficulties I had in this project was coming up with the design and than carving the soft olium , because with the soft olium I kept on carving too deep and so it wasn’t really good because some parts were too deep and some were just right. I had troubles with coming up with and idea for my design because I didn’t really know what to do but than when I got inspired with these other designs I knew exaclty what I wanted to do.

    4. What do you think you have learned, or improved on?

    I learned how you use soft olium because I leanred how to get the acuall sketch on with out thacing it on the soft olium by putting the darker side on the soft olium and than  going over the lineds angaib.

    5. If you had to repeat this project, what would you improve on, do differently and why?

    I would like to improve on making a better design and also getting better a carving and so on because I found the things that I want to get better at were really a challenge for me.
