Reflection for Art (Over and Over Printing)

My design had a l0t of triangles and circles and diamond shapes. I used a shape like a mountain that goes up and down and also I used a wavy and pointy shape. Also I used some rectangles. I had the wavy shape on one side and the pointy shape on the other sid. I had the diamond and circle thing in the middle and I had lines coming out. My design had a circle in the middle and a diamond on the right and left side. The diamond was divided into 4 parts and each of the sides are shaded and not shaded for each of the 2 diamonds. In the circle I had a wavy cloudy shaped thing that went on the inner line of the circle. On the bottom of the circle there is a wavy shape and on the top there is a mountainy pointy shape and they both have the same length. I had another cicle on the top right side and I had carving bits where there was empty space. The circle has a triangle inside and has shading on the left side and has no shading on the right side. I had 8 lines that came out of the circle. There are 2 triangles one on the top and one on the bottom on the left side and anther triangle that is underneath the right cicle.  I tried to keep my design balanced with positive and negative spaces for creating a great design.

I think the inspiration of my design is the egyptian design because I used a lot of egyptian kind of designs. I created my design by thinking that I wanted my design to be interesting and I liked the way the egyptian designs were designed. Th difficult part of making designs for me I think it is the part where you have to carve it and also go by the window and trace your design from the paper. This is because when I trace the design from the paper it sometimes changes position and once you get it on the softolium you can’t erase it or anything. Also, when you carve the design you sometimes cut it too deep and too light so you have to cut the softolium medium.

I have learned that carving softoliums are harder than I expected. Also, I have learned that if u carve ur design deeply then when you put ink on it will not come out really good. What I have improved I think is that I have improved my stamping skills. This is because when I first tried stamping my design onto the white paper with black ink it was all smudged and it came out to be really really bad. But then after a few practices I have mastered the stamping skill and nnow I am better at it than before.

If I was allowed to do this carving project again then I would like to make my stamping look better and I would probably not carve my design’s softolium too much. Also, I would want to have my tracing at the exact spot so it doesn’t make it hard for me to carve. I would like to improve this part the most.
