First Day of Cross Country
Yesterday was the first day of the cross country unit. I had a 2 period P.E. lesson and it was in the morning.I had to be in the gym and get changed by 9:10 and we’d leave for the bus to get to Negishi Park around 9:15. There were 2 buses that would take the students to the park. When we got to the park we would warm up and run up the hill. Then we would stretch and warm-up for the run. Then the run would start. My P.E. teacher Mr.Thomas blew the whistle and we’s start running. We had to run 2 laps around the park (about 2.8 km). I had a goal.My goal was to get a faster time than last year(6th grade) and try not to walk a lot during the run. I tried to think positive even though I don’t really enjoy cross country. The morning was cold but after 1 lap my body warmed up.
I tried harder than before and whenever I wanted to stop I kept pushing myself. After 2 laps I got my result. It was better than before. Last year my timing was 20 minutes or 17 minutes 20 seconds. This first cross country run I got a timing of 14 minutes and 17 seconds. I was very happy and satisfied that I tried my best. In the beginning, I was a bit anxious about running but I was determined to run positively and the way of thinking positively had been reflected to my result for cross country.
For my next run I want to think positively like the first run and try my best.
