Drama Journal entry

Today in Drama class we focussed on attitude, relations and status. We did activities that showed that we either higher or lower status than the other. This could also be known as master servant roll activities. The master servant roll is basically one person is the master, this person has a lot of the control. This persons body language will have very confident parts to it that will be easily visible, such as the persons chest might be sticking out due to their very high confidence. Or this persons voice could be very posh and/or could have a very high statues laugh a very ‘put on’ one.I think this has really influenced me in a big way because, this can influence me in my real life situations. For example when we did the game when we had a job interview, one person was the giving the interview and the people that made up the circle were applying for the job. The things we said and some of the questions that were asked could help us when we actually go for a job interview. That one game in particular is a game that can help us trust each other, and show each other that we can work off each other.

We are now working on a bit of improvisation games for our trip to Phuket, when we face BIS in a few drama games. We have been looking a lot into tension and seeing how tension can be seen in every day life. For example the shock of the unexpected is one of the tensions we learned about, a simple one is being asked to marriage. If you really act as the character you will feel the shock as much as the audience, because that who the tension is for. The audience.  We have also worked on this one activity where Jake had a dagger and he was going to attack Shiho. The rest of us stood in diffrent parts of the room, then we stood as a wall behind Shiho and then Jake did a slow walk to Shiho and went for her. Then we made a horse shoe around Shiho, Jake did the same thing. Finally we made a horse shoe around Shiho and this time we snapped our fingers at the same time and went from slow to fast, as Jake got closer. As a group we decided we felt the most tension in this.We also did a listening exercise, where we partnered up. One of the partner was wearing a blindfold, and the other was giving the other one directions, if we touched an obstacle then we would start again. In my opinion, this gave a bit more trust between us all.

Technology U2 Mash-up reflection

In technology class we have been making a mash up, at the begging of the unit I made a “check list” of things I thought were appropriate for the mash up. In my checklist there is one thing I did not follow and that was ” Must be short clips 5-7 seconds long.” The reason I did not follow that one is because there was to much of the video(s) that I needed to use for me to follow that one

I think my product could be improved by having a better quality sound, I say this because the screen recording on quick time didn’t record the sound. This was a very last resort, but I had to do an audio recording of sound from outside the computer and play the two songs so that they match up with the video I had recorded.

This is one of the songs called “Calon Lān” and it was preformed live on Britans got talent. The other song I used was a music video of “Scream and Shout”  by Will.I.Am feat. Brittany Spears.

I think I used the design cycle quite well, I got quite high grades in them. However when I was making the MU as well as designing the MU I did not use the design cycle that much because I like to do things at my pace.

What is a historian

In the video that I made it was about the past three genrations in my family. My grandmother, my mother and my self. In the video I talk about what has changed, what they think has changed, what they did etc. However to get all this information I had to talk to my mother and interview her, and then I had to interview my grandmother over the phone. My main message was to show how much difference there is even after all this time. Especially in Cardiff.

If people had technology back then it would have been a lot easier. However it might change the way we live today. Some might say that we would be living with flying cars. This would change the way we think. It would change the way we have a view of things. For example we could see Americas stereotype to a diffrent one.

I think this has changed the way we live, the past that is, and all the way we do things

Tutor think before you post!

1.  Are there certain ideas, or social messages, that influence the kinds of photos that girls typically post? How might these attitudes affect the kinds of photo comments girls post amongst themselves?

I think the certain ideas that influence what girls typically do online, is Selfie’s and photoshop.

2. Are there certain ideas, or social messages, that influence the kinds of photos that guys typically post? How might these attitudes affect the kinds of photo comments guys post amongst themselves?

I think some guys try and be funny online.

3. Are people aware of their online images? Do they try to make themeslves look certain ways? Why or why not?

I think people do try to make look them self look better. Because they want to look better.

4. Do we have different expectations for how girls and guys should look or act online? If so, where do we learn these attitudes? If not, why not?

Yes because of the peer pressure from school or past postest.

5. How aware are you of how you comment on other people’s photos? Do you think this differs for guys and girls?

I dont care what I comment. I dont think it differs.

Tech – Copyright

In grade eight tech class we are making a mash up, in this blogpost I will be talking copyright. Copyright can cultivates creativity. I think it cultivates creativity because, if someone has already made something then it makes you think more to think of something you want to make but it still is something no one else has made before. This can help you make a mash up, for example. This seems to make many mash ups. E.g. the video we watched that showed what copyright was, the person that made the mashup got little bits of disney movies and combined them to make the whole video.
So in conclusion I think copyright cultivates creativity

The outsiders final questions

1. Appearances and deception are a common theme in literature, how does Hinton demonstrate this?

The appearance comes to life when you describe what is going on, for example the gangs by the way they dress. Not only the gangs but maybe the kids at the church the way they call for help.

2. Do narrators always tell the truth? Is Ponyboy a reliable narrator?

No, because the story could have been completely from his point of view. This can miss out many important details.

3. Is The Outsiders relevant to you? Can you relate to it? Why or why not?

Yes, I think it does because it is a story about friendship and I had a long friendship once that just stopped.

4. Should The Outsiders be taught in school? If so, at what grade level?

I think The Outsiders should be taught at school to be shown reality and it would probably be at this grade level.

5. Who is your favourite character and why? Who is your least favourite? Explain your choice.

My favorite character would have to be Dallas, because even after Johnny killed someone he still went to help him. However my least favorite character was Cherry because when the rumble happens she thinks she can just tell pony boy what to do.

6. Which character impacts you the most? What emotions do you feel for that character? Does he/she remind you of someone else you know? Of yourself?

I think Pony boy has the greatest impact because he has such heart and a lot happens to him at one time.

PE Handball assignment

Find all the mistakes in this paragraph:

Handball (also known as team Austrian team handball is a team sport in which two teams of six players each (five outfield players and a goalkeeper on each team) pass a ball to kick it into the goal of the other team. A standard match consists of 4 quarters of 16 minutes, and the first team to score 3 goals wins. Modern handball is usually played in a swimming pool, but outdoor variants exist in the forms of field handball. The game is quite fast and includes no body contact, as the defenders try to stop the attackers from approaching the goal. Players can dribble the ball like in basketball and can take 4 steps. They can also pass using, chest pass, bounce pass and kick pass. Players are only allowed to be in possession of the ball for 3 seconds before either passing or shooting at goal. The game has different phases. Firstly a team needs to gain possession of the ball and this usually occurs with the goalkeeper. The objective is to turn defence into attack. The next phase is moving the ball back away from the opponents goal and to your own goal. The next phase is to get into a scoring position. No players are allowed inside the D zone. However, every player is allowed inside the F zone. Fouls occur when players use excessive force and play is re-started with a jump ball. Players are only allowed a maximum of 5 fouls before they must exit the game.

Corrected Version:

Handball (also known as team handball) is a sport which two teams of seven players (two outfield players and a goalkeeper on each team) pass a ball and try and throw it into the goal. A standard match consist of 4 quarters which are 30 minutes each. Modern Handball is usually played indoors, however it can also be played out doors which is called “Field Handball” or “Czech Handball”, which can be known as Sandball or beach ball. The game can be fast or slow (it depends what is happening at the time) and includes body contact, and the defenders try and stop the attacks from scoring. Players can dribble the ball like in basketball (but not exactly the same why, because you can dribble with two hands if u want, and stop dribbling and start again) and you can take three steps when not dribbling. The players can also pass. With the: chest pass, the bounce pass, and/or the over head pass. There are usually two stages of the game:

1) Players must gain possession of the ball. This will usually start with the goalkeeper.

2) Players must try and get the ball into the other teams goal.

No players are allowed are allowed inside the D-zone. You can also commit unlimited fouls.

The first drill that I am creating is a warm up. The warm up will need to have 10-20 cones as well as 1-5 people. The cones will need to be in a circle. and one after the other just dribble around the cones.

The second one is the same thing however in a straight line and and at the end it is a shot on goal in one of the four corners of the goal.
