The outsiders final questions

1. Appearances and deception are a common theme in literature, how does Hinton demonstrate this?

The appearance comes to life when you describe what is going on, for example the gangs by the way they dress. Not only the gangs but maybe the kids at the church the way they call for help.

2. Do narrators always tell the truth? Is Ponyboy a reliable narrator?

No, because the story could have been completely from his point of view. This can miss out many important details.

3. Is The Outsiders relevant to you? Can you relate to it? Why or why not?

Yes, I think it does because it is a story about friendship and I had a long friendship once that just stopped.

4. Should The Outsiders be taught in school? If so, at what grade level?

I think The Outsiders should be taught at school to be shown reality and it would probably be at this grade level.

5. Who is your favourite character and why? Who is your least favourite? Explain your choice.

My favorite character would have to be Dallas, because even after Johnny killed someone he still went to help him. However my least favorite character was Cherry because when the rumble happens she thinks she can just tell pony boy what to do.

6. Which character impacts you the most? What emotions do you feel for that character? Does he/she remind you of someone else you know? Of yourself?

I think Pony boy has the greatest impact because he has such heart and a lot happens to him at one time.

Radio Blog Post

In english class we are working on poems. We went too a website that had a hundred and eighty poems and I chose number sixteen and it is called Radio by Laurel Blossom. We had to:

Ask questions such as:

what does the poem mean to you?

The poems means too me that something bad happens over and over and in this poem is the radio being stolen is the bad thing and it happens over and over again and the other things that are small bad things that work up to a big bad thing.

what image stands out?

The image that stands out is someone breaking into a car and stealing things from the same person in a dark alley

what confuses you?

Why the same car over and over again? Why not a diffrent car?

what do you like best/least and why?

I like how how it repeats the same thing over and over not going into a diffrent story it goes the same way over and over

does the poem remind you of something?

Doesn’t remind me of anything at all

what about the title?

The title reminds me of a song called radio.

can this poem be used for a birthday, wedding, funeral, first date?!

It could be about a funeral and how e.g. someones father being taken away, and the radio is something that represents that.

Is there an allusion to a book, Greek myth, movie, religion?

I think this could be based on a movie however I am not sure which movie, nevertheless a movie

which of the 5 senses are represented?

Feel and sound. Feel because he describes some of the things he steels and sound because he can hear the window smashing. When the window smashed, could that have scared him of for a bit or was someone one another car trying too steal their radio?

In this poem there is a lot of repetition  and this can be very effective because it can tell the reader that this is so big, this is such a big thing that we need t tell you about it again. Short lines. Very effective. This can be effective because it says this something and thats it no more no less.

So as this comes to a conclusion I would like to, briefly, go over what I have gone over: I had questions about my poem, and I talked about the poetic devices for them.

English Snowboard presentation reflection

In english class me and Lucas made a pretension about snowboarding. In class when me and Lucas started the presentation we just read out the slides we made so if I made the slide about Shaun White he did the slide about the history of snowboarding. Lucas thought that he did not present the presentation that well since he mostly read of the slides, but he also thought it was very nice to present about snowboarding. Even though I did the exact same thing as Lucas he has his opinion and I have mine. Any way moving on. I think this project helped me a lot because I am not that good with presentation’s, especially the presenting part. So this helped me a lot with my speech with other’s and I think this will help me a lot for grade seven because I expect a lot of presentations to come my way in nearly every subject. And given a minimum of 10 slides I found that quite difficult to be told how many slides I needed to do with Lucas because with Lucas and I we don’t find it as hard as to do slides when not under pressure. And what I mean by that is we can just go for it but when were told do this amount of slides by Thursday that when we start finding it hard.
