PE Cross Country Reflection

On November 10th, we had a cross country day. We also welcomed the students from Ishinomaki where YIS is supporting.

During this year’s cross country, I was tired than usual because I was sort of nervous than a practice. However, I was glad when people were cheering for me and I was so much confident to run.

An outcome goal for me is to get in to 10th or more, since this year’s cross country I was 29th out of more than 40 people. My process goal is to get more physical strength by exercising often such as once or twice in a week.

I have improved my time as I practiced so much by taking a walk everyday until Minatomirai and I even bought a outside, suitable for running shoes too. It was light and comfortable than my normal pink and black shoes. In addition, I tried to improve my breathing technique as well. If I ruined the rhythm of my breathing, I get tired and I will not be able to improve my time.

For scoring myself, I think I am 5 out of 8. I have been improving and achieving some goals I have been setting up, however I should still have to get a physical strength and practice a lot by exercising if I have time than spending time with computer.

Overall, I think I did well and I am saticified with my time: 12 mins 40 (?). There was so much difference between the first day of cross country practice which was in October 3rd and the real cross coutry day.

Visual Journal Reflection

This year, 2011 field studies was fun and sometimes challenging. The most memorable activity was hiking that I even wrote about it on Japanese essay about the field studies.

Anyways, for this unit I suffered a little with how can I write the journal well and get a good feedback from the teacher. I knew what to write and how I felt from that experience, however it was pretty hard to express with the words.

The strength of my journal was the design for each day’s journal such as changing a letter fonts and make the page colourful, so that the reader won’t be bored while reading it. Another strength was that my “over all reflection” which I wrote in day 5, I wrote how I felt during this year’s field studies and what was the most exciting and great experience for me so well.

The weakness was that some of the page was messy and the drawing looked so chaos that people might not get what I drew. So, I thought I need to improve my drawing skills and especially learning how to draw an object three dimontional.

Brazil and Portugal Project

How do empires effect us today?

Empires effect us today with languages, religion, food and great deal of history. Those are all used and known very well from empire, colonizing era to today. For example, I understood that since Portuguese colonized Brazil, and had a relationship, Brazilian today speaks Portuguese. And since they were in good relationship, Portuguese had exported Brazil a sugar, which it became a important export during the 16th century, and even Portuguese found out a gold in Brazil until the independence war happened in Brazil.

Drama Unit-Mime

Today, I explored an actions of mime. We never used an object, and made an exact shapes for each imaginary objects.

I learned that sometimes other than miming is hard to do. For the banging on the wall scene, I had advised my group mate to slap on the wall and knock down so that it really looked as he banged actually and so as Mr Meiklejohn said that.

To use this in performance, we changed our angles from facing audiences. Also, we tried not to rush during the performance. I knew that the  way to mime and let the people understand what you have in your hand and what are you doing.

What I wanted to know was how is it possible to show what you are actually doing.

It is hard miming, and the person watching might think something different. For example, when I’m pretending doing golf some people might think I’m doing baseball and swinging a bat.

Thus, I found out that miming could sometimes be difficult fir some people who are finding acting out is hard.
