Hakuba Landscape – Line Drawing Unit

During this unit, we have searched through the picture which we want to draw, including line techniques. I used a photo of a view from mount Iwatake, where we went hiking, and some people.

First, I was just drawing some random view of a landscape (such as grass, mountain, path, etc) and characters, with some line drawings which I know, and kept practising for the real drawing. However, I realised that I could draw properly afterwards on a different piece of paper. I felt confident, but also including teacher’s help, I was able to accomplish drawing successfully so I think I made progress.

I started from background (sky), Middle (view from the mountain), and finally foreground (grass and path) plus people with another small piece of paper. For the sky, I traced clouds with some random loose lines. For the middle I used many sorts of line techniques such as stippling, hatching, and little bit of contour hatching. For the foreground, I used stippling, and grass. I also included some different tone on each mountain (dark and light).

There were some improvements I needed. Since I am pretty clumsy with cutting huge paper and matching for middle and foreground, and also making the material (I don’t know what its called) the stuff which I stick it onto the picture and show it as 3D, so I think I just need to get used to it.

For researching, I could have had looked closely and concentrate on line techniques. I was sort of scamping with researching, because it seemed a little troublesome to look for the specific lines and patterns, so most of my drawing included similar patterns, so next time I would investigate some more and try varieties of patterns and line drawing.

Overall I am satisfied with my result. I think I improved with drawing, such as realistic grass and mountain. My drawing was vivid and I want to keep up my work on next unit.

Semester 2 Goal & School Values

My Semester 2 Goal:

My goal (Learner Profile) for semester 2 is to be a risk-taker and communicator.

Even though I have a organising skills, I will need to someday during class or group work, participate. The purpose is that I have to show my knowledge and strength for each subject, and I listen to others and always agree with them, but I hope to give my opinion, not just sitting and copying other people’s idea, even though I agree, and thats my goal for risk-taking.

The point for communicator is, just similar with risk-taking, however I have to share and get a great conversation with others. When I meet someone who I don’t normally talk, or new students, I get anxious, and get stuck while communicating, unless I’m used to him/her.

Thus, those are my goals.

School Values:

As an individual, I think the school values are important especially to be responsible to others.

This is because if you get irresponsible to your group, partner, friends, etc others will get sort of disqualified, and sure it is possible to be causing other people to dislike you to be in group.

Responsibility is the state or fact of having a duty to deal with something or of having control over someone (by dashboard dictionary). Therefore, to be responsible I think that not one person will get benefitted and stay lazy, and other works hard. We both, or more should get benefitted each other and co-operate to each other.

Humanities project – reflection (?)

On my humanities child labour poster making project, I am focusing on child labour and products slavery in India. I hope I will make it successfully which catches viewer’s attention… :)

Here is my reflection (?) of my poster:

What is your project?

My project is a poster on child labour in India with lots of facts such as: definition, causes, consequences, prevention, products, etc.

Why did you choose it?

I think a poster would be easy to catch viewers’ attention with a standing headline (also for just glancing through).

What stage are you at? What do you still need to do?

I’m still researching about the topic. I have to take notes, paste the information on to the poster (about A3 size paper), and also include some pictures and graphs to make it interesting and exciting.

Anything difficult about your project?

The difficult things are to get the main, or important sentences from the sources.

Do you think your project will be effective?

Yes, because the topic and the content are very profound.

Screen Shot! :)

Tech application reflection

In today’s Tech class, we watched through some people’s 30 seconds book trailer testing.

There were Adobe Player, iMovie, Presentation – Kye note/power point and screen flow (hope its right). One or two people presented their trailer from each application group, however, unfortunately, I wasn’t able to make a book trailer test with QuickTime Player (since I’m not familiar using it at all), and tried it but it didn’t work as I planned it… :(

I thought something has gone buggy, however I realised that this application is unsuitable for making a book trailer test. And sure, this could be one of my lesson…

Anyways, here are reflection:

1.  Which applications do you think will be best to create a trailer?  Why?

I think the application which will be best to create a trailer is iMovie. This is because iMovie is tended to make a video, of course filming people is one, but also to make a trailer is suitable. Also, it could use BGM (background music) and insert lots of pictures in and make up a great video.

2.  Which applications do you think will be the least useful for creating a book trailer?  Why?

The useless application for creating a book trailer is, from the choice chart from the assessment document, QuickTime Player which I used it… It was obviously useless, and it is just for voice recording and screen recording. Since book trailer is for write and create a video about that book, it is definitely unsuitable when I record the book…

3.  Do you already feel confident about using the application?  If not how much will you need to learn?

I am mostly familiar with this application than any others. I knew that we were suppose to use an application which I am not expert of. Therefore I was confident but since it didn’t work… I might need to learn about book trailer and our task even more… :(

4.  Do you think it makes more sense to choose an application and then start designing, or to design your trailer first and then choose an application to make it?  Explain.

I reckon that designing first will help, since it is mostly part of a design cycle, and while designing, there might be lots of ideas coming up, which I did.
