Throughout this project, we have been researching about what exactly a history is. Students in 8A have collected their artifacts and each student will analyse, or describe what the object is and what it suppose to represent. Then, the other class will guess who that person’s artifacts are by searching the analysis, and write the biography of that student. Basic history starts from this stage. This research challenged me from writing as much as possible about that person’s information. I didn’t know much about that person, and probably many students got some errors of their profile from other students. I also don’t like to show my birth and date to people, (I know it is a weird principle) especially I hate people knowing my age and that sort of irritated me.

For my generation project, I have interviewed my grandmother, mother and me. Obviously, there are many interesting facts about my grandmother because she is the eldest, and she has various experiences in her life. I asked about school, free time/music, women/minorities/politics, majour events, clothes and jobs/money. There is time limit, so I didn’t include every single questions and informations but I have tried my best for creating best generation video.

Students had choice of what programe to use for making video/presentation. I was going to use the programe, which I have researched called “tar heel reader”, but I refused and used iMovie, which is very familiar for me, and I finished my work productively and in fair pace. Here is the link for video (please don’t hold your breathe on it, I tried my best but I don’t know if its good!): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6gg8dmHLEs

This history project helped me of knowing about how the environment in Japan changed through generation. I found this research interesting, and it was worth it to study about family generation and history.

On my humanities child labour poster making project, I am focusing on child labour and products slavery in India. I hope I will make it successfully which catches viewer’s attention…

Here is my reflection (?) of my poster:

What is your project?

My project is a poster on child labour in India with lots of facts such as: definition, causes, consequences, prevention, products, etc.

Why did you choose it?

I think a poster would be easy to catch viewers’ attention with a standing headline (also for just glancing through).

What stage are you at? What do you still need to do?

I’m still researching about the topic. I have to take notes, paste the information on to the poster (about A3 size paper), and also include some pictures and graphs to make it interesting and exciting.

Anything difficult about your project?

The difficult things are to get the main, or important sentences from the sources.

Do you think your project will be effective?

Yes, because the topic and the content are very profound.

Screen Shot!

What would you improve about your presentation?

When you watch the video, do you think you were persuasive? Why were you able to persuade the audience (language, tone, evidence?)

Please include a link to at least two of the primary sources you used to get your evidence. What do you think was the advantage of using primary sources? (sources written at the time of the Industrial Revoltion).

Part II:

In 2-3 sentences explain the argument for child labor in the Industrial Revolution.

In 2-3 sentences explain the argument against child labor in the Industrial Revolution

Do you think England would have industrialized as quickly without child labor? Why or or why not?

On Monday, the 20th, us 7B has presented our arguments about child labour. Here are the reflections:

What I should have improved in this speech was to raise my voice volume, and while reading the speech, use eye contact, to show that I’m bringing audiences attention and when theres a questions, I would interrogate to an audience. I read it smoothly, however I realised that I didn’t punctuate on each paragraph, and rushed through reading, so I want to improve those next time.

I’m not that sure about bringing up some information and questions from watching our speech video, not that I know. However ours could be a little more longer and expand some sentences including a details by researching more about child labour in general with my partner well.

I think the language and tone I used had impressed some audiences. But still, I think I wasn’t really able to persuade an arguments much, since my level of expression hasn’t really changed. (Same expression through this 5 minutes speech), so I will need to stress some words to drag audiences’ attention.

The link I used: Spartacus

Child labour in Industrial Revolution is necessary because children have to (if parents passed away) replace for them. Also, working is for earning money which could be used for going to school and get a good education, buying food supplies for preventing the starve, and even essential for buying medical supplies and get a cure when children gets injuries. So still they work in a terrible factory, at least children receive some amount of money.

Having said that, children working in a factory damages their health. There will be some injuries and diseases from dust coming into their lungs and the working time is too long for children. They will also need to get some free time, fresh air, and EDUCATION.

I think England will industrialise without child labour, because England is mostly developed, and the country people must be organised enough. Child labour is once again harmful for children.

Us 7B made a presentation slide about a person who has changed the world with a special invention.

How can one person change the world?

I think one person can change the world, by thinking about a public and life. Person could then create something that makes people’s life convenient and presentate that machine or the invention to the public.

For example, the person who I researched about is “Matthew Boulton”. He has invented a coin machine which describes money whether its fake or real. I do admire him, because without that machine, people will keep on making fake money and pay with that, which has a big effects to people, and the money won’t get trusted. That means, there will be no one using money and shopping.

Here is my presentation slide which I made:

- Favorite academic moment thing I learnt/activity

- Goal

In this year, the activity I’m doing Middle School Jazz Dance and Middle School Advanced koto. (For Jazz Dance) I wanted my body position to be better than now, and make my body flexible too. The teacher is strict but I still want to continue and get better at it.

The favorite moment this year was the Tech comic making. It was so much fun taking photo with my friends and I was able to be in her comic. For my comic, I used my home tutor and Mr Pitter. Before we had to do this project, I felt troublesome because it might be a big project that takes so much time, that I can’t do my other homework. However I enjoyed overall.

My goal for this year is to be more mature, and talk a lot. I also want to participate on some events and activities that I haven’t done yet, such as sports or something relates to studying.

Empires effect us today with languages, religion, food and great deal of history. Those are all used and known very well from empire, colonizing era to today. For example, I understood that since Portuguese colonized Brazil, and had a relationship, Brazilian today speaks Portuguese. And since they were in good relationship, Portuguese had exported Brazil a sugar, which it became a important export during the 16th century, and even Portuguese found out a gold in Brazil until the independence war happened in Brazil.

Now this is our presentation:

During the early Spring break, my family got news and information mostly from internet, and I also watched the situation of the earthquake and tsunami in the other places as well.

Sources: http://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/quake.html http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MbNjUaVnokw&feature=related

We shared our information to my relatives, by going to their place, and we talked about the earthquake. From this sources, I have learned that from this huge earthquake and tsunami, there are many bad affects about foods, and supplies people have to use. Also, I have felt worried for those people who hasn’t got rescued yet.

The advantages of these sources were that it had many useful information, and knew the accurate numbers of people who are lost or dead, and for the video which I have watched from this sources, it was very easy to understand the pitifulness of people who experienced the horrible tsunami.

The disadvantages was that the articles which I have at the top by source, there were too long, and there were the information which were repeated.

For me, instead of reading News paper articles, I used this sources to receive information about earthquake and tsunami in Kanto and Tohoku.

For the information I have believed, however it was wrong was that the chemical from the radioactivity might be melt inside the rain, so the rain will be so harmful for people, but then there was an another information that it was just a rumor, and mistake. But still, I am worried about the radioactivity.
