Does copyright hinder or cultivate creativity?

Copyright is the exclusive and assignable legal right, given to the originator for a fixed number of years, to print, publish, perform, film, or record literary, artistic, or musical material.

Hinder: Copyright hinder with making remix or using some images when necessary. Many people, including us, wants to listen to music or watch movies free by downloading or easily search it up on YouTube. Background music are also needed for people when making slideshows or their original video. However, there are some videos that doesn’t have any sound because of the copyright issue, unfortunately.

Cultivate: Although copyright could be annoying, it is still important for fair use. I think that it isn’t fair for the creators of music and movies that ordinary people to just watch or listen to it anytime without any money. Creators gain profits by people buying their CDs or DVDs; furthermore, including copyrights of the music and movies.

In my opinion, I think copyright still hinder creativity. I want to listen to music or watch movie by free downloading to my ipod or iTunes so that I can easily listen or watch them whenever I want, and it is very handy as well. There might be lots of people who doesn’t have enough money, but are desperate to listen or watch music and movies with quick search. There are many people including me, wants to use any images for school project or anytime necessary, so I feel a little hindered when there is a copyright reminders.

Thus, even though there is fair and unfair in society, I still consider that copyright should be lost as soon as possible, and people liberally can view everything without any laws.

Technology Presentation

My strength throughout this design cycle is that I was able to express my knowledge on the presentation investigation. I already had my plan in my mind and I was pretty much eager to put in some topics that I am confident to talk about in front of class. I tried to organise and got ready for my speech and try knowing what I am going to talk about. My weakness of this project was that during the presentation, I wasn’t able to keep an eye contact on audiences because I was nervous and felt a little uncomfortable talking and mostly projecting myself towards the audiences. I am weak with presentation and speech. Therefore, to cover my confusion, I was looking at the que cards most of the time…

I did reference/source my images, however not all the specific (each sources) for the images. Otherwise, I used MLA format for bibliography. It seemed I only had a little bit of sources for information, but that is really my site I have used! But as my tech teacher suggested after everyone’s presentation, I think next time when I have a chance to present, I will put the image credits or bibliography on the slide instead of gathering and putting it on one last slide.

My slides were very simple and slightly (if I say it in a negative way) boring. I think I should have thought of more advanced quality, therefore my slides seemed a little meaningless, since my speech itself just helps the presentation, I think. Overall, my slides design wasn’t really good in my opinion.

I am confident with my pace, because even though I was nervous, I still considered for speaking clearly and slowly to let audience understand what I am stating. I was struggling with volume and projection (as many of you know…-.-;) as I have written above, and yes, I wanted to focus on some eye contacts however I wasn’t able to accomplish it as well…

I have clearly stated my into and conclusion throughout this presentation, so I am confident with this point, but teacher might think for maybe a little more improvement might be needed..

Tech application reflection

In today’s Tech class, we watched through some people’s 30 seconds book trailer testing.

There were Adobe Player, iMovie, Presentation – Kye note/power point and screen flow (hope its right). One or two people presented their trailer from each application group, however, unfortunately, I wasn’t able to make a book trailer test with QuickTime Player (since I’m not familiar using it at all), and tried it but it didn’t work as I planned it… :(

I thought something has gone buggy, however I realised that this application is unsuitable for making a book trailer test. And sure, this could be one of my lesson…

Anyways, here are reflection:

1.  Which applications do you think will be best to create a trailer?  Why?

I think the application which will be best to create a trailer is iMovie. This is because iMovie is tended to make a video, of course filming people is one, but also to make a trailer is suitable. Also, it could use BGM (background music) and insert lots of pictures in and make up a great video.

2.  Which applications do you think will be the least useful for creating a book trailer?  Why?

The useless application for creating a book trailer is, from the choice chart from the assessment document, QuickTime Player which I used it… It was obviously useless, and it is just for voice recording and screen recording. Since book trailer is for write and create a video about that book, it is definitely unsuitable when I record the book…

3.  Do you already feel confident about using the application?  If not how much will you need to learn?

I am mostly familiar with this application than any others. I knew that we were suppose to use an application which I am not expert of. Therefore I was confident but since it didn’t work… I might need to learn about book trailer and our task even more… :(

4.  Do you think it makes more sense to choose an application and then start designing, or to design your trailer first and then choose an application to make it?  Explain.

I reckon that designing first will help, since it is mostly part of a design cycle, and while designing, there might be lots of ideas coming up, which I did.

 

Tech- Book trailer group assesment

1. How many criteria do you think it is useful to have?  Why?  Can you have too many or too few?

2. Which of the criteria the class came up with do you think is the most important?  Why?

3. Do you feel that the class left out any really important criteria? What ones?
4. Do you think the process we used (research, small group agreement, then whole class agreement) is a good way to develop criteria – why or why not?

I think about 10-15 criteria might be useful to have, because it shows lots amount of us (group mates) has discussed and researched about the assignment. I think there is no too many or too few. It depends on how much you understand about the book trailer, and its mostly free for students to express an understanding.

Not that I know what the class left information, because students has written many opinions, and also matched what I was thinking too, for example me and other students had a same opinion- “Book trailer shouldn’t tell the whole climax in the novel”.

Yes, because its efficient, and its not much confusing than sharing a document and editing with whole students.

Evaluate Reflection

For this project, I was happy with my work, because Ms Cofino seemed to be very impressed with my blog, and the work I have done. I was also proud of myself as well. But I think I will change my project if I could do it again by putting in the music, and also recording a video of myself,  which might be more interesting, and get more points than just voices. But I am still satisfied with my work!

I liked “create” the best, because I was able to show my ability and strength for the tutorial of “How to make a presentation with google docs.” I was able to contact, and communicate with teachers well that time, by discussing about creating my tutorial. Once again, I enjoyed “create” the most.

However I liked “Investigate” the least, because it took so much time by finding and embeding the video. I was just confused with too many ideas. Also, for my theme for the tutorial investigation, I wanted to find something that matches me, like hobbies for example.

If I was a teacher, then I might change the assignment into one that is done by a team instead of an individual assignment. However, I will choose the team so different students can cooperate with each other, especially the people who he/she does not normally talk with. I do not want students to have arguments, or be silly with the team when they are with friends that they always talk with. I am looking forward for students’ tutorial in the future. And I also want to ask each students “how was it?” and hear their opinions.

Yes, they helped me organize to complete my project, because it is easy to find out which part we are on, and I can concentrate on it. It is also the same pattern as always, so I wanted to continue the cycle.

I have grown as a learner during this project, by not only worrying for my own project (but also it is important to care for your project),  but make sure to look for the other people who need help, so I am pleased to serve someone who has trouble.

Tutorial Reflection

For my tutorial, “how to do presentation with google docs”, I used voice thread. I have learned that it is sort of difficult for teaching someone something step by step, and accurately. However, it is a good experience that to share my thoughts and presentation to others.

I am happy with my tutorial which I made. And the person who peer reviewed my tutorial thought that it was good enough. Also, I had time to go recording my voice to the quiet place in early morning, and finished soon.

There was some part which were difficult, because there was a sound of craw and trucks, so every time if there was a sound of those, I had to stop the recording and do it again. However I can’t claim on them.

For criteria, I think I match with “simple” and “organised”, because usually many people can do voice thread, simple rule. For organised part, since I always want everything especially a school work to be neat and clear.

I think I can challenge by taking myself with camera doing tutorial, instead of just voice. So, people can see how am I doing, and sometimes I can get help from my friend Nerissa or teacher by getting more skills for communication and cooperation.

Tutorial Reflection

During this unit, I would like to demonstrated my tutorial design with these following criteria: “Non- distracting” and “Conparison”. 

For my plan, I would like the viewers ensure the skills of my tutorial project by accurate information, some words or messages that makes people giggle a little, and the thinking of the easy way to let people who hasn’t done tutorial before will understand very easily.

I think I should learn and practice someone something step by step, and get used to teach something, and tutorial is sort of same as teaching so we might get be able to get used to create tutorial.

Investigate Reflection

During this project, I have commented on Nerissa’s Blog (Panda Tutorial) and Shiho’s Blog (Easy Drawing Cassel). I have learnt that they wrote more in details and feelings instead just explaining like me. I would like to learn and read more from other’s blog as well next time if we do tutorial again.

During investigate, I have learnt how to teach someone something easy to understand with best ways. I could use for making good tutorial, the notes or script for explaining in front of people watching, or if its presentation from google docs which we did in Technology class, then I might explain the part where it is very important to remember or learn by writing into the text.

My Best Tutorial Research

We 6B had started our unit called “Tutorial Research” on February 4th. And here are the analysis of its project. I thought that in tutorial, I could learn about explaining in the best ways step by step that people could understand well, and it was so useful. I thought making tutorial good is to focus on how well the person who explains does make it easy to understand and simple. It is hard to speak while doing something else and cannot be allowed error, however I was impressed with the expert in the video. What was difficult about the tutorial was that the person was speaking clearly however it was too fast and some people might also panic too. So, it could be more accurate for explaining and also I suggest there can be how many grams and how much of that materials are needed. Here are the video which is my favorite.

Creating My Blog

I am happy with my theme, because I have made them as all the sentences fits in the blog than before. My criteria matches for link and simple. I have met those criteria because I have learned here and at computer class. I think I should become even more better blogger by using advanced vocabulary, many details and easy to understand and focus on some organizing paragraphs. I also look forward for accomplishing assignments more better from working quicker and try to finish at school as I can, so I do not have to do it at home.
