Reflection

After running the Cross Country, I felt really proud of myself. I felt proud that I had come so early within such a large amount of people. I felt even more proud when I found out that I was near the beginning of the race out only 7th graders. I was exhausted after the race because I really tried my best to improve from last year. I think that overall Cross Country was a great event to take place in.

My best strategies

I think that my best strategy in the Cross Country race was to tell myself to keep going. Whenever I got a stitch, I would always tell myself to push it down and cross country is just a mental game. I tell myself that if my mind is on the right track, I can always achieve my goal  even if I am tired. Also I bought new shoes after the 4th practice run and I am sure that that helped bec

1st run October 3rd: 12:51

I was feeling very tired and unused to the running course. But I was still determined to improve and get a better time.
2nd run October 6th: 13:02

This time I was slightly slower than my last time but I felt that it was much easier and I felt like the up hills and downhills were more controllable.
3rd run October 11th: 13:15

I became much slower than my last time. But surprisingly, the people who were around me while running were basically the same.

4th run October 13: 14th place (Time was not assessed)

I was very happy to get 14th place even though that was not my best time ever.5th run: 12:17

5th October 31st: 12:43

I can defiantly start to feel that I am getting used to the track. I can feel that I am improving.

6th November 3rd: 12:39

I am really happy that I am improving and got this time. Especially because I had a little cold  and I could not breath through my nose.

7th run November 8th: 11:12

I finally beat my record time! I feel quite ready for the actual cross country race.

8th run November 10th: 24th place out of everyone/ 8th out of 7th grade 11:23

I felt very proud of myself for achieving my goal which was to pass at least 8 people in total without letting 8 pass myself at the same time.

I was very happy about my result. Because I beat my time by 1 minute and 5 seconds. But I did not feel so much more tired than usual.

My process goal: My process goal is to be able to pass at least 8 people in the actual cross country
My outcome goal: I want to improve my time at least 3 times before the unit ends

G7 U1 International Games – Rugby World Cup assignment. Due Date:- Thursday 22nd September 2011

Due Date:- Thursday 22nd September 2011

You have found this assignment on the PE Blog. Please copy and past the assignment and rubric into you’re blog. Do the assignment and assess yourself on the rubric. Email me you’re blog when finished… by Thursday the 22nd.

1. Watch at least one half of a game from the Rugby World Cup schedule.
Which game(s) did I watch?

I watched France and Canada. France won by 46 points and Canada lost by 19 points.

2 Write a brief introductory paragraph (about 4 sentences) starting with “The aim of Rugby Union is to….”

The aim of Rugby Union is to score more points than the other team with the ball. You can run with the ball, pass the ball and kick the ball but you cannot pass the ball forward. You can only pass to a player behind you. In Rugby Union, you can tackle your opponent as long as you stay within the rules.

3. The world cup running at the moment in New Zealand is the game of Rugby Union. Briefly (no more than 4 sentences) describe the difference between Rugby Union and Rugby League.
Rugby Union has 15 players on each team and Rugby league has 13 players on each team. According to the New York Times, Rugby League has shown itself that it is more of a fast pased game than Rugby Union. Officials admit that the game is too slow.

4. List the teams who have won the RWC in its entire history.
The RWC winners in the entire RWC history are:
1987 New Zealand
1991 Australia
1995 South Africa
1999 Australia
2003 England
2007 South Africa
5. Choose one of the following to explain in detail: Knock on, Offside, Scrum, Line Out or Hooker.
A Knock-on is caused when a player pushes/ knocks the ball forward with an arm or hand. If the referee considers the Knock-on was deliberate by a player, the referee can order a penalty kick towards the opposing side. If the deliberate Knock-on does not give any advantage to the player sometimes the referee will not order a penalty and let the game play on.

6. In brief (no more than 4 sentences), explain where Rugby Union originated and how a pacific island nation came upon it.
Rugby originated in England in the early 19th century. I think that Rugby spread from Australia to other pacific islands.

7. What examples of Internationalism are evident throughout the RWC?
The reason why the RWC is an international sport is because RWC is a popular sport around the world. The RWC has been played in 7 different countries until now. And many countries participate.

8. Identify an occasion in the RWC where an opportunity to learn about another culture was evident.
In the RWC, players participating can learn about other cultures when they see how other people congratulate each other or in the middle of a game when the opposite team does their rugby war chant, the players may learn something about their culture. For example, the words they are saying, the movements they are making and sometimes even their expressions on their face.

9. Give evidence of an occasion in the RWC where two or more communities have come together in good spirit?
RWC players shake hands and congratulating each other at the end of a game.

10. Millions of dollars are spent on this event. Do you think it was money well spent? Yes/No, Why/Why Not
Yes because Rugby is a very popular sport to watch and many people actually watch the event. The event is not for a few people to watch, millions of people watch Rugby.

PE Cross country reflection

I think that cross country is a really good event and I enjoyed it very much. I beat my personal record and never stopped so I am happy with what I have achieved. Self talk really worked fro me. I would always say to myself that I could do it and that I could not let the person behind me pass me. One less place could cause me to fail to beat my record. With that I got my record achieved. I was really happy with the place I came. I came 10th place. That was much more faster than I thought I would come. Before the actual cross country day, I was really nervous. But it turned out to be really fun and it felt great to cross the finish line. I would like to continue this event every year as I enjoyed it very much.
