Include the work you did as a historian for the generations project? What did you have to do? What challenges did you find? What was your message?

How might technology change the way history is recorded and remembered?

Include visuals (possibly your generations project) and other media to support your ideas.

What is a historian? There are many different definitions of a historian. It really depends on how you look think of it. What the dictionary says about historian is: An expert in or student of history, especially that of a particular period.

One thing that is very important to record or remember about history is technology. Technology plays a very important role in history. Without technology, we probably can’t remember. Technology can store things and media in certain things like computers, recorders, etc.

In the generations project we had to interview 3 people. We had to interview your grandparents, your dad, and you. These 3 people are like the 3 different generations. This can be an example of what a historian does. The historian collects information from different generations and compares them. Historians do many many things in their job. Usually it is very difficult to gather information and research. They have to examine things and information very careful to do their job right.

Does copyright hinder or cultivate creativity?

In my opinion, Copyright does damage creativity by a mile. I think this because it makes the options limited for the person who would like to make something and I think this affects a persons creativity. Creativity is mainly about the things that you make yourself but creativity becomes better if you take ideas from other people which are pretty good. I think that if copyright didn’t exist, there would be many popular videos in youtube and many very creative works.

Copyright is both good and bad for different people. Copyright is good because the people who make songs or movies usually don’t want people to take their ideas because they want the work to be credited to them. If you make something of your own and someone steals it, you would be very mad and you would feel like other people thinks its that persons work but it actually isn’t. The only downfall to copyright is (like I said above) hinders creativity. It gives you limited options to creativity, which is quite sad. Creativity should be free and to do whatever it wants.

In conclusion, I think Copyright should exist but should be brought down a few levels because currently, Copyright is too strict about people’s work. If I were a DJ or a professional mashup maker and to be shown the limited amount of options I have, I would be very mad and sad and I would be protesting about Copyright laws. So my answer to this question (Does copyright hinder or cultivate creativity?) in simple is: Copyright hinders creativity by a mile.

One of the goals I need to have is to revise more for upcoming tests. I have been lacking revising for most subjects. I think I have to have more time of revising on subjects. What I need to be is a thinker. If I be a well thinker then I can get better grades for my reports and tests that are coming up. I am right now a Caring person. But I still need to improve the way I study things for tests. My goal is to revise for tests thoroughly so I can get high marks on my report card. If I do this, I will get a high mark. My other goal is to do less time of gaming, multi-tasking, chatting with friends on Skype, and less calling my friends. I do this too much on the weekdays and the weekends. If I stop all of this I will be a better student in school. I could also do my homework 2 days before the due date. I am now a last minute person. I should not do homework on the last minute. I think I do this too much.
One of the values I need to improve on is “We shall be honest in our dealings.” I think this because I have been lying sometimes to my teachers and my parents and my friends. If I stop doing this I can be a better person in the future. It is a good thing if I be an honest person to everyone around me. If I don’t then I can become a very bad person, and lying can become a habit to me. This is one of the dangers that lurk me right now. I must try my best to be honest in all of my dealings.
Another value that I should improve on is “We shall be responsible in our actions”. This is also a value I should improve on because sometime I don’t bring the right things to class sometimes and forget what classes I have to go to next. I also should get the supplies I need for the next class I go to so I won’t be late for class. If I do this then I can arrive to class on time. I should arrive to class on time so I don’t miss anything big. If I do then I won’t miss anything big that supports me. I should also bring the right supplies to class, because if I don’t then the teacher would be angry at me and I might get detention or some sort. If I don’t bring a certain paper to class that is needed for class, then I could miss out on the project. If I be responsible in the things I need for class then I won’t miss anything big for class. If I forget my computer then I would become in big trouble.

Reflection

Did you achieve them?
I think I achieved some of my goals from last year. It was very difficult to follow my goals throughout the year. But I managed to listen to my goals. I think I did my best to complete my goals. But eventually, I didn’t complete most of them. I think that I should use my goals from last year to this year so I could keep on practicing. In conclusion, I think it was hard to complete it very easily. It was very difficult.

Why or why not?
The goals that I picked were very hard and I think I should have made them easier. The goals were a bit too strict to listen to. I think I should focus on 1 goal at a time so then I could achieve everything. It was a very hard job to do.

1. Revise. I think that revision is a very good thing to do. It is very important for tests and oral tests etc. Without revision I could fail a test or get a very low score. I think this is a big challenge for me.

2. Last Minute. I usually do things at the last minute which is really bad because I can rush through them and that can affect my score. If I don’t do things at the last minute than I won’t have to rush and it won’t affect my grades.

3. Focus. I always have to focus in class and this is a very important thing I should do. Focusing in class is very important. I should also sit far away from people who can distract me.

In this unit, I had to create a presentation about any topic I was interested. And my topic was: Are we alone in the universe? My presentation talked about 4 concepts which was Planets, Aliens, Knowledge and Travel. These concepts had a question that I had to answer. In my presentation I think I did fairly well. I used correct and good information supporting my question and topic. This topic interested me a lot and I was dying to find out about the questions to the concept. I really enjoyed researching about this topic and I was very astonished to find out things that I didn’t know at all. In investigate, I think that I did pretty well. I think that I should probably make a real topic title instead of a question. I could I have changed it to “Outside of Earth” or something like that. For design, I think I should maybe have putten in better topics for my design part and choose from there. For plan, I should make a storyboard so that it could be easier for me to make the presentation. I felt that I could change some slides in my presentation and if I made my storyboard than I could think twice of what I am going to put in my slides. For create, I think that I should organize my presentation better like when I have a picture up before the question appears, I think I should put the picture behind the question as a background. I also think that I should do it without transitions and stuff; It made me mess up sometimes and forgetting to press the spacebar a few times. For evaluate, I think I should give a bit more examples to the reflection and should give at least 2 or 3. For attitudes in technology, I think that I should listen carefully in class in what to do and I should be more engaged and not being shy to answer a question by the teacher.

Now I will be doing an analysis of the poem. So in the poem Otherwise, Jane Kenyon talks about a day but describes it in such a way that it seems bizarre and amazing. Not only does she make the day seem to be perfect, she also puts in that the day could have been far worse with her repetition of the word, “otherwise”. She writes things for everyday objects to make them seem special. For example, when she wrote “I ate cereal, sweet milk, flawless peach”, she describes these foods as if they were a special food not just the foods some of us eat everyday. Another example is at the last line where it says, “But one day I know it will be otherwise” reminds me of the feeling of death, like one day she won’t wake up or walk her dog or have dinner with candles. This is another way of showing us to enjoy what we have because we never know what will happen in the future. The author chose to write the poem into 2 stanzas with short sentences to emphasize how short life is. In the poem, Jane Kenyon is showing that she realizes that she’s blessed in everything that she does because things could go differently. She starts the day with waking up in the morning with two strong legs, to the end of the day where she lays down at night with their friend and sleeps with paintings on the walls is a dream come true.

I used this poem because I thought it goes into the idea of enjoying what you have even though it may not seem much. When I first read this poem I was amazed at how well she made the poem with a repetition. This really influences me because it tells me to be blessed in the things you have or do, because one day it will be otherwise.

I would like to recommend this poem “My Life” by Joe Wenderoth to people like me and students if they are interested in sad things between two living things. In this poem, Wenderoth makes a poem connect two living things which is an animal and a human being. The human goes into his room and finds this animal in the room. The human doesn’t know what it is and calls the animal ‘My Life’. In the poem Wenderoth makes the reader picture this room of the human being. Wenderoth makes the poem very realistic and makes a picture in the readers mind. In this poem there are no stanzas or separate paragraphs.

“My Life” is a great poem that mainly focuses about two living things. Wenderoth makes the poem very sad and good at the same time. The author makes the atmosphere feel sad and melancholy. There isn’t any alliterations in this poem because this poem is mainly a story. This poem didn’t show many poetic devices which probably makes the poem less interesting and “good”. When Wenderoth said “a silence is coming” she means that between the two, there isn’t going to be a good future between them. This is a very good way of saying that something is going to change. It’s like a couple divorcing or breaking up. This poem is basically saying that not everything can be perfect between two people or things. There sometimes is a breaking point. Overall this story is very touching and is a very good poem for people who like sad poems about two living things.

Here is the poem:

Somehow it got into my room.
I found it, and it was, naturally, trapped.
It was nothing more than a frightened animal.
Since then I raised it up.
I kept it for myself, kept it in my room,
kept it for its own good.
I named the animal, My Life.
I found food for it and fed it with my bare hands.
I let it into my bed, let it breathe in my sleep.
And the animal, in my love, my constant care,
grew up to be strong, and capable of many clever tricks.
One day, quite recently,
I was running my hand over the animal’s side
and I came to understand
that it could very easily kill me.
I realized, further, that it would kill me.
This is why it exists, why I raised it.
Since then I have not known what to do.
I stopped feeding it,
only to find that its growth
has nothing to do with food.
I stopped cleaning it
and found that it cleans itself.
I stopped singing it to sleep
and found that it falls asleep faster without my song.
I don’t know what to do.
I no longer make My Life do tricks.
I leave the animal alone
and, for now, it leaves me alone, too.
I have nothing to say, nothing to do.
Between My Life and me,
a silence is coming.
Together, we will not get through this.

On day 1 I didn’t leave any trash or rubbish in the environment. I have done good to take care of the environment around me. I picked up some pet bottles which were lying on the ground in the camp site and while we were hiking. Some teachers also asked me to pick up some bottles and trash on the ground. I haven’t done anything bad to the environment on this day and I think I did well.

Day 2

During the day I have come across some bottles lying on the ground and I have picked them up. I thing I have littered in my tent, but later on my friends took the trash away.

Day 3

This day I went kayaking and unfortunately I have come across some floating bottles and trash in the river. I haven’t picked them up because I was a bit far away.

Day 4

I went mountain biking and I have seen some people leave some bottle behind when we took a break. I picked them up and threw them in the garbage. I didn’t really see anything else that is wrong with the environment.

Day 5

I didn’t see anything wrong with the environment but while we were going with a bus back to the airport, I saw some people cutting trees which I thought wasn’t good. That was really all I saw today.
