Hemanth did a presentation based on a very interesting poem called “Bad Day” by Kay Ryan. He explained the key features of the poem clearly in his slides, as well as his opinions. His analyzing was very clear and informative. He also hooked everyone’s attention by starting his presentation with a question. In his presentation, he also included a conversation between 2 elves talking about themselves having a bad day. This is a happening that has happened in the poem. Overall, I think Hemanth has analyzed his poem very well as well as keeping the audience interested to his presentation.

Henning’s poem was a very deep poem called “To help the monkey cross the river” by Thomas Lux. He explained his thoughts of this poem very well and all his opinions were easily understood. The way he looked at the poem was very interesting. He has explained how the hunter didn’t shoot the predators to help the monkey and teach him. He also gave a great example that related to this. “Would a parent remove all cars when his or her child is walking on the street with a red light?” This example really explained his opinion well and I was able to understand it very clearly. I thought Henning’s presentation was a very successful one and it contained very interesting facts.

Ren has chosen a very good poem called “God Says Yes To Me” by Kaylin Haught. He explained how the God is a woman and has more of a characteristic like a mother. He talked about why he has chosen this poem and has analyzed the poem. He also talked about the poem being about not making other people make your decisions and making decisions yourself. He explained this very well and I have gotten a great idea of why the poem had so many questions. Overall, I thought he analyzed his poem well and he has talked very clearly so everyone could understand him.

Markus chose a poem about basketball called “Fastbreak” by Edward Hirsch. To be honest, I was excited on this one because I play basketball as well. He has done a great presentation, including main facts about the actual fastbreak play in basketball and how it works. He also compared this poem to another writing he has written by himself. The two poems had relations and Markus explained them very clearly. I understood his presentation very well. Overall I thought his presentation was very successful and he did a very good job on analyzing his poem.
