Hand Ball Rules

  1. Explain the rules about inside the D zone(6m line).

The 6m line is considered to be one of the most important parts of the hand ball court. In the 6m line is where the goalie is. Only the goalie is allowed in the 6m zone. A player may however jump into the D zone, but he must throw the ball before landing other wise the goal or pass doesn’t count and the play starts with the goal.

  1. What’s the goal keeper’s speciality? What can he/she do? Write down as bullet points.
  • He may be in the D zone all by himself and no one can come in except when the player jumps.
  •  He may hit the ball behind the end-line and it will be his ball not the oppositions. This is known as a goal throw.
  • The goalie doesn’t have to obey the three second rule when throwing the ball from a goal throw. (Shown above)
  • He may also go out of the D zone and play as a normal player.
  • But if he does this he must wear a bib or something that indicates that he isn’t in goal and is playing as a regular player.
  1. If the ball hits the goal keeper’s hand and goes outside of the court, how is play resumed?

The goalie will get the ball and the play is resumed when he throws the ball. He is not restricted by the 3 second rule.

  1. Can players pass the ball to their own goalkeeper?

Yes they can but the goal keeper has to stay inside his D-zone. Or in the case of the goalie playing as another player he has to have a bib on.

  1. What will happen if the defensive players go inside the 6m line to defend a shot?

There will be a free throw for the other team. They will have a free throw from outside the D-zone where they can shoot or pass. But they have to be standing still.

  1. What is a “fast throw-off”?

A fast throw of is when the team goes to the middle line and can start right away or very quickly. They can only do this however if the other team is ready.

  1. Please identify the differences between basketball and handball rules and explain them.
  • dribbling
The difference between basket ball and hand ball is that in hand ball you can only take 3 steps with the ball without dribbling and you can only hold the ball for 3 seconds. You can dribble with the ball every three steps to continue moving. But you can only do this 3 times. In basket ball you can only go 2 steps but you can hold the ball for as long as you want. And you can dribble for as long as you want.
  • steps(pivoting)

In handball there is a special position which means that you piviot and score. You hang around the 9m line and when you get the ball you simply turn around and shoot. You can also get the ball and take a few steps and shoot. In basket ball once you get the ball you cant move any more, you can pivot but not move. Other wise its considered double dribble.

  • throw-offs

Throws offs happen in many different games not only in basket ball and in hand ball they also happen in soccer and other sports. Basically you have the ball in the middle of the court and this is where the game starts. You pass the ball to one of your players. You must play the ball back behind you. The oppositions defence must be 3 meters away from the ball before the game starts. This is the same as basketball. You have to pass the ball back behind you and the oppositions defence or attack has to be a certain distance away from you.

Hand Ball Court

P.E Cross Country-

My out come goal for this year is to get under 13 minutes. My process goal is to run 3-4 times a week. After every run i feel pumped for the next time in hopes to beat my record and my goal.

My first run:

Place: Negishi             Laps: 2               Time: 13:19          Feelings: excited about my time

My Second Run

Place: Negishi             Laps: 2               Time: 14:09          Feelings: Sad and I have a big cramp in my stomach

My third Run

Place: Negishi             Laps: 2               Time: 13:40          Feelings: Exhausted but feeling improved since last week. Determined to do my best.

My Fourth Run

Place: Negishi             Laps: 2               Time: 14:23          Feelings: Tired and not in the mood. Going to try my Process goal more so that I`m better at my running.

5th run

Place: Negishi             Laps: 2               Time/place: 18     Feeling:  Happy and ready to run more

6th run

Place: Negishi             Laps: 2               Time: 13:28         Feeling: A bit disappointed but going to try harder next time

7th run

Place Negishi              Laps: 2               Time: 12:57         Feeling: Great, I have beat my best time and completed my outcome goal for this year. I feel that the style I ran today is the best.

8th run

Place: Negishi             Laps: 2               Time: 12:45         Feeling: So good, Cross Country Day and I got one of my best times I have ever gotten.
Some of the most beneficial strategies for me were self talk, better running shoes, keep on pressing harder and different running style. Self talk helped a lot because when I was running and felt like slowing down I talked my self to keep pushing until the end were I could stop. Better running shoes, someone told me to get bouncier shoes because you seem not to run as hard and still be able to run faster than your best as well as your bouncing which means that every step is longer than no bounce. Pressing harder, every time someone passed me I had to over take them again other wise I was letting my self down. I guess it comes from me being very competitive but it worked for me. And last but not least different running style, I used to run on my toes which cause more stress on my calfs which means I couldn’t  beat my record, but my teacher helped me not to run on my toes and my time went from 13:19 to 12:45. Also I beat my out come goal which was to get under thirteen minuets. My processes goal was to run at least 3-4 times a week which I didn’t really do, I could have ran more than I did. At the start of training I was doing really well with my processes goal but then I slacked off and I didn’t do it as much and then I just didn`t do it so next year and preparing for next year I need to work on this.

I think that out of 8 I deserve a 6 because I improved and I worked on my weak areas and made them and my time better. But the reason I don’t really deserve any more is because I never did my processes goal that well and I need to improve in that area.

G7 U1 International Games – Rugby World Cup assignment.

Due Date:- Thursday 22nd September 2011

You have found this assignment on the PE Blog. Please copy and past the assignment and rubric into you’re blog. Do the assignment and assess yourself on the rubric. Email me you’re blog when finished… by Thursday the 22nd.

1. Watch at least one half of a game from the Rugby World Cup (Schedule).
Which game(s) did I watch?
NZ all blacks vs Australian wallabies2 Write a brief introductory paragraph (about 4 sentences) starting with “The aim of Rugby Union is to….”
I think the aim of the rugby union is that every one comes into a game with good atmosphere and supports their country with a great amount of proudness. Also the game is played like this a player runs across the field and scores a touch down which is five points. Then they kick a ball from 20-30 yards out and try to get it in a goal which is the two posts at each end of the field they get an additional two points for this. Also if they take a penalty kick and they score they gain another three points.
3. The world cup running at the moment in New Zealand is the game of Rugby Union. Briefly (no more than 4 sentences) describe the difference between Rugby Union and Rugby League.
One difference is that rugby league has13 players at one time on the field and rugby union has fifteen. Another thing is the rugby union put a lot of focus into the scrums and line-outs. Also the RL (rugby league) is more of a running game but RU (rugby union) is more broken up into pieces.4. List the teams who have won the RWC in its entire history.
Australia=1991,1999
New Zealand=1987
South Africa=1995,2007
England=20035. Choose one of the following to explain in detail: Knock on, Offside, Scrum, Line Out or Hooker.
Scrum means to restart the play of the game. What happens is each team form rows of three and then interlock with each other
from the head first. Then the ball is passed into the middle and the players try and roll the ball to their side with there foot.
6. In brief (no more than 4 sentences), explain where Rugby Union originated and how a pacific island nation came upon it.
It originated when a boy playing soccer picked up the ball and ran to the opponents goal and his team mates followed his example.
7. What examples of Internationalism are evident throughout the RWC?
The HAKA is a great example of internationalism because it is  war dance that has a great amount of history in it and every pacific islander has one. Also when people go to the world cup they get their and do some touristy things. So when a country hosts an event like this crowds come to enjoy entertainment but also learn a lot about the country.
8. Identify an occasion in the RWC where an opportunity to learn about another culture was evident.
The HAKA is a great bit of culture in the pacific islands. Its a war dance that terrified enemies and still does on the rugby field.
9. Give evidence of an occasion in the RWC where two or more communities have come together in good spirit?
The players that didn`t play went up and shook hands and patted the other team on the back.

10. Millions of dollars are spent on this event. Do you think it was money well spent? Yes/No, Why/Why Not

Yes because when a team comes to play and the crowd comes to watch in that country they see the poor the unwell and they may feel a bit more generous and donate or adopt or something like that. Also lots of people love and support this game so its a game that people come and watch the game with friends and family.

P.E Reflection

On the 10th of november we did cross country run. That was the end of the unit cross country and we had a special cross country olympic runner named kimihara san. My thoughts on the whole unit were that at the beginning I thought that all us of running around negishi was tiering and useless but after awhile I thought that it wasn’t so bad looking at nature and enjoying the wind on your face and the quietness was really nice as well. The best thing about cross country is that I beat previous records and my time kept getting better for example i got 25 minutes on the 1st run and 13 minutes in the next and to me that was a huge improvement. The only thing I didn’t like was the fact that no one could accept that I was passing them and they wouldn’t give up.

APPROACH SELF SCORE
How did you feel you were able to utilize some of the mental strategies such as self talk into your running and understand the importance. (A2) 7/8
How much training we’re you able to do outside of your scheduled PE times? (A3) 4/8
How seriously did you take your goal setting? (D6) 6/8
How do you think you performed during the whole XC unit? (C1) 7/10
I am aware of my strengths and weaknesses in cross country running and I aim to develop this area of learning. (D4/5) 6/8
