Learner Profile: Reflective

There are various ways I can improve on the learner profile “Reflective”. First of all, I am actually confident on writing reflections. Usually, we answer the questions assigned from the teacher,  and form a reflection with the answer. When I think “reflective”, its not that easy to answer with just some questions, as “what can you improve on” or what are your strengths and weaknesses”. Being “reflective”, is thinking about what you have been doing, and your opinions and thoughts about your progress. I, have been just answering questions, and have been typing up reflections. I think I have to think about my progress, and what I have done personally. What was something I could definitely work on? What can I do to improve this skills and that skills? I always have to think what I have done, and reflect.

Value: We shall be responsible in our actions.

I think being responsible, is very challenging for me, as a student. I truly think I have to improve on my responsibility. For example, if I forget my homework, I will have to take responsibility, and keep in mind, that I forgot my homework, and forgetting again is totally inappropriate. Also for instance, if I injured someone in a game of basketball, I would have to leave the game for a while and make sure the injured person is okay. If he is, I will apologize, and join the game again. If he is not okay, I have a responsibility to take him/her to the nurse, and wait until the injury is cured. This example also includes sporting spirit. For example in soccer, if one player trips another, he/she will give their hand to the injured player, and pull him/her up. Also, when someone is injured, a player with sporting spirit will kick the ball out, and let the injured player’s team start to throw in the ball.

Yesterday :D “A RBI” and “Sk8?”

Yesterday I had a baseball match against St. Maur. The 8th graders were starting and we cheered for them. In the last inning, I was called to do right field. It was the first time I was called to do baseball in a match, so I was pretty proud. The match ended, and the second match started. The second match was a match where players who didn’t have a chance to play would play, and a match to choose the next year’s starters. I was playing second baseman. I was the lead off batter. (1st batter) The first time batting, the pitcher threw 4 balls, and I got to walk to 1st base. I stole home base, and we got a point. The second time I stood on the batter box, I saw a little white ball running into me, in the strike zone. I hit the ball, and it was a RBI. (RBI is when you hit a ball and bring runners to home base) I came back again with steals. I was really happy that I scored. So the baseball match ended. Then, I went to Yokohama, and I met Kento, my friend. We went to the skate park at Nissan Stadium in Kozukue, and eventually I was skateboarding with my friends Kento Shirotsuka, Yong Won Choi, and Jeong Hyun An. We did somethings that were dangerous and fun.

Earthquake!

On Friday, there was a enormous earthquake, and today the Meteorological Agency corrected the magnitude as 9.0. Well, on Friday we had to stay in school until our parents come, and some people were crying, but actually I was quite enjoying staying in school. I was eating some snacks with my friends, and doing games. My friend’s mother was stuck in Shibuya, so he slept over my house. I was a little bit worried about his mother whether she was safe or not, but the next day we met his mother. He peacefully arrived at home, and then the nightmare started. I had to do math for hours, and it was so difficult. I am so upset with the earthquake because I can’t go to school on Monday.. :( Well, but I think it was a good experience for a child.. :p I feel so sorry for the people who were living in the epicenter of the earthquake. On the television I see towns turning into scrapyards. Well, many celebrities and people are taking action to save the sufferers near the epicenter and people who lost their family. I am really upset about the Government, actually the Prime Minister, because they are so slow at giving information and they are lazy. I wish there would be a new Government working hard to save the people.

P.E. and the Danish Performance

Today, in P.E, we did some gymnastics with the Danish Gymnastics Group, who were traveling and doing tours. I enjoyed the trampoline, because the members said that I was really good. We did free-somersault practice. When I reflect back, I am proud of myself because I was brave enough to do a normal somersault. I had some good drips of sweat on my forehead after the class. After lunch, we went to the gym to see the performances. I was really amazed with the performances because there were so much high level somersault. I was soooooooooooooooooo impressed!!!

Science Activity and Humanities

Today we did a activity in Science Class. There was a paper plane, a toy car, a flashlight, and matches. We were to find the energy change and the waste. And if we finished the activity and answered correctly, we would have a chance to shoot somebody 2 times with a Airzooka (air bazooka) which also contains kinetic energy, and more. Our teacher Mr. Robinson mentioned that we can also hit him with the Airzooka too, but I wanted to shoot my friend so I didn’t. First he shot the curtains really far, and it was awesome when the air hit the curtains. It was really cool. I was excited to shoot. I completed my activity, and I shot my friends Yong-Won, Kento, Rohan, and Masaki altogether. It was really funny. A girl Nerissa shot Mr.Robinson, and something unbelievable happened. We were getting out our agendas to write the homework, however, Mr. Robinson said only Nerissa has homework because she shot Mr. Robinson. Science class was really fun today. Also, I am really enjoying the Humanities project, and we are making our own civilizations. I wanted to express my personalities, so I did something creative. I made a flag for the civilization, and I also used real Turkish words representing the King and the Queen, because my civilization is based on Turkey, Lake Tuz. I named my King Kral, meaning the strong one, and I named my Queen Güclü, meaning the strong one, powerful, and heroic. My flag has the colors Red, Blue, Black, and Yellow, and these are the lists of the meaning. Lake Tuz Civilization Flag

Blue:Rest

Red:Blood and conflict

Black:Solitary and nothing

Yellow:The King, the Queen, and the Sun
