What did you enjoy about this project, and what do you think was a success? On the other hand, what would you like to do differently or what do you think could be improved somehow? How did you contribute to the group?
During this project, I have enjoyed about the drawing part of it. It had been fun to create an image of a corner of the street in the history and compare it to now. I think our display was a success because we have included detailed annotations and the drawings also matched the annotations. Although there are some drawings that does not EXACTLY matched the writing, but overall it is good.
I have worked with Mary, which we have worked well and productively. We each decided our own parts, she drew the picture before the industrial revolution and I drew the one after it. We worked on the annotations and research together and it was overall good team work.
What would be some of the major advantages and disadvantages of living in each time period? Then – which time period would you personally choose to live in, and why?
Industrial Revolution: There were more technologies and more improved in medical.
Before: Less pollution and no child labour, full of farms and nature.
If it was up to me, I would personally choose the time before the industrial revolution. Although there are more technologies and new inventions after the industrial revolution, I would prefer the times when farms were common and there are less buildings.
Extra credit analysis: What are some ways these maps would have been the same or been different if they showed your own country (or if you’re from England – what if they showed Japan?)?
This map would have been the same, except some differences in culture, if it showed my home country, Taiwan. About my parent’s childhood, Taiwan’s capital, Taipei, was filled with farms and small temples from place to place. Now, it was filled with tall buildings, cars, buses, and even the metro (subway) is built now. There are more technologies (which is the same as england) and there are more new inventions. The population grew in both places as well.
