Field Studies DAY 1
I had to wake up around 5:00 am because I live around 45 minutes away from school on an express train and everybody had to be there by 6:30 am. The bus left around 7:00 am. We were going to a camp site next to a lake called Lake Aokiko in Hakuba and staying with counselors from a adventure company called Evergreen. The bus ride was around 5 hours and 30 minutes. The bus ride was quite fun. I was watching Family Guy on my Iphone and talking to my friends.
When we arrived we ate lunch. We had to pack a lunch instead of Evergreen making it for us. We were too slow so when we were setting up our tents our group (Oliver, James, Harry, Charles and I) got one of the smaller tents, but it was okay because the sleeping bags they lent us were really comfy.
Everybody in the grade were split into groups for an orienteering treasure hunt. I thought my group was pretty good. We had to find some things in order to finish the treasure hunt. Such as a feather, a few different types of leaves, a man-made object and a white rock. I spent most of the time talking to Yuki. Although the time passed quickly surprisingly for me. After that we got some free time followed by dinner. For dinner we got beans and meat sauce with rice, which wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t the best.
After that went to sing camp fire songs around a camp fire. It was pretty fun and after that we told scary stories, which surprising enough none of them were scary. After that we went to sleep. It was really cold in the tent at night so I wore two layers and I was still cold.
