As we are coming to an end of this school year I start looking back on what I have achieved this school year.  It has been a very interesting year for me. I started this year in a small school in New York and now I’m finishing school in an international school in Yokohama.

This year I think I have achieved many things.

1. Helping my Mathalon team (in New York) win 3rd place.

This is a goal I have been wanting to achieve since 5th grade.  I started in Mathalon in the middle of 5th Grade.  It is a team of 6 people who compete with other schools on a math test.  In 5th grade sadly our team didn’t win.  But our team practiced for the next school year and luckily our hard work paid off. In the end we got 3rd place.  I am proud of myself because I was able to join the team, and our team was able to get 3rd place.

2. Improving my writing skills.

I have never really enjoyed writing essays or long pieces of writing, but this year I found that I enjoyed writing a lot more.  I think I have gotten better at creating pieces of writing and using creative language.  I think this is a very important skill and I’m glad that I’m getting better at doing this.  I hope that I continue to improve on this skill.

3. Getting a bronze medal in the U.K. Math Challenge.

When I started at Y.I.S I found that the math was much, much harder than the math at my previous school.  I don’t think I will be able to catch up in the short 2 and 1/2 months that I am here, but I think I have been doing better because when we did the U.K. Math Challenge I surprisingly got a bronze medal.  I know this is a very small achievement but I am proud of myself.

In the short time I have been here I have done a lot of work that I am proud of. Here is some work that I am really proud of:

Sena and I worked on a presentation in English class, It was a presentation about something we are both passionate about: Dogs.  We are both proud of this because we worked very hard on this project and it was about a fun topic: dogs!

This is a project that I worked on in technology.  This is a blog post where I wrote a reflection about my tutorial that I made in technology class.  I am proud of this blog post beacuse it was one of my first few blog posts and I think that I improved a lot on this reflection.  Another reason I am proud of this is that I learned how to embed a video while making this post.

My Tutorial

In technology class one of the first projects that I did was making a tutorial.  I am very proud of this project because I didn’t know how to use iMovie and Garage Band when I made my tutorial.  I enjoyed  doing this project very much because I did it on a topic that I enjoy, drawing 3D letters.

This isn’t exactly a piece of work, but it is something that I am very proud of.  It was part of a math competition called Mathalon that I participated in at my previous school, Spencer Van-Etten Middle School. I am proud of this because it was a big achivment for our team of 6 students.
