Personal Coat of arms Project reflection
Posted on August 29th, 2012 at 1:02 pm by raveena and
In Humanities, we made a coat of arm design including our hobbies, favorite color, Where you come from, Something important, favorite place etc.
My Coat of arms ↓

My design doesn’t look cool and interesting like the others but I’ve expressed everything about myself into this design.
I included my initials in the background which was just for fun. I’ve divided the shield into 4 parts. For 2 of them I included 2 flags of where
I come from. The one on the left under the flag is a ballet shoe. I drew that because I like dancing. The one next to it is some notes. This
is meant to show that I like music.
The thing on the left hand corner is a ribbon. I included this because I like fashion and designing stuff. The thing on the top of the shield
is a beetle’s horn thing. I drew that because I used to have more than 10 of them and they’re really cute. And I also drew a bunny
because I think it’s suuuuuuuuuper cute
The most hardest thing to draw was the beetle’s horn. It was hard to get the right shape.
The most Easiest thing to draw was the Japan flag.
I’m not really proud of my work because it’s really lame.
But it was really fun
National Museum Reflection
Posted on May 14th, 2012 at 3:17 am by raveena and
On tuesday May 8th, 6th grade went to Ueno zoo and the National Museum near the zoo by train from Ishikawacho station.
We went to the Zoo for science and the Museum for Humanities. In the museum, we looked at many different sculptures and arts.
They were all very interesting. In this museum, there is about over 600 sculptures, paintings and arts there. But the rules were very strict there because we weren’t allowed to write on the floor or on the case and we weren’t allowed to take much pictures.
The first object I saw was a Writing box. It was a box with a place to put in the ink and a place to put in the brushes. The design of the box was very beautiful too. This writing box was made in the 16th century. This writing box has a little connection with the non- japanese cultures too because in other countries, these writing boxes are common too but look a bit different.

The second object I found interesting was the sword guard. It was very small and there was a lot of them but there was one that really stood out. I don’t know about any other connections between the non- japanese culture about this one.
This sword guard was made by Seiji in the Kamakura period. I chose to do this object because it was cool.

The 3rd object I chose was the Armor Helmet. This is my first time seeing a real one and it was really cool. This helmet was made in the muromachi period during the 15th century. This Japanese helmet seemed heavier then the other ones I saw.

At last, I looked at a cute little object that looked like it was hidden in another room. I’m not sure what this is suppose to do with the Japanese culture because it was made in America, in 1983 but it was cool. The object was a teapot shaped one and it was made out of gold. There were other ones too shaped like Sushis and Animals.

Sorry, I couldn't take or find any picture of it.

To be honest, the museum was boring because it’s for adults but at the same time it was super fun and exciting because you get to see cool stuff. The most thing I found interesting was the Armor. It looked really heavy but cool. It was really awkward how there were so many different writing boxes. Normally in 6th grade, we don’t get to go to field trips so it was very exciting. I hated going on the train because there were so many stranger-like people.
Long-Lost Civilization Blog Reflection
Posted on March 10th, 2012 at 6:52 am by raveena and
For this unit in Humanities, we looked at different articles on new discoveries and researched on different civilization. (for example, China which is the shang dinesty, Egypt, Mesopotamia and Indus.
We looked at articles like National geographic. And we just finished making an article of our own made up Civilization.
I was proud on the effort I put in to make this article. I think I had enough details for my civilization.
This project was really fun because we got to make our civilization any way we want. I kind of struggled with choosing the name of the civilization because I had lots of ideas.
I want to improve on describing more about the civilization I found, so that the reader gets to know more about it too. I don’t think I put in much ideas in the Project like I had in my mind.
My Article didn’t turn out to be that interesting like the other articles do. I feel like I had too much pictures than the writing.
If I could, I want to try going to the Civilization too. But it might be hard to stay there because I am used to living here and the culture here and in my made up civilization is different.
The most thing I want to try is pottery. It looks really fun designing.
