Mini Student Led Conference (fake) (with Mihaela)

Conference Raveena and Miha

In tutor, we worked with a partner on recording a conference scene. One played a role as a mom/dad and one presented their work to their mom/dad.

The purpose of this task was to give an idea to your teacher on how you really presented your work on Student Led Conference day. (I think)

Smart Goals (Semester 2)
Posted on January 24th, 2013 at 6:52 am by and

My dream is to be a professional dancer/dance teacher. And I’m pretty sure it would never change because I adore dancing. I’ve decided to change some of my goals for this 2nd semester because I’ve achieved most of my goals from last year.

Goal 1 : Stay healthy

My first goal would be to stay healthy. It might not be attainable to stay healthy through my whole life but I would at least keep me away from
becoming overweight. To stay healthy, I should be able to balance the amount of each nutrients I get. Too much fats or Carbs would be bad for you so I will need my mom’s help to balance things up.
I would also need to exercise to keep fit. At least run more than once a week. I normally would either forget to exercise or just skip it because I’m tired. And then my mom would get angry at me :( I do not have a “I’ll do this by the…..” because I want to stay healthy all the time.

Why I need to stay healthy: If I become overweight or obese or whatever it is, I won’t be able to dance and I do not want that to happen.

Goal 2 :  Improve Drama. In my last goal, I did include a goal to focus in Drama. I am gonna set that goal for this year again because I need to improve a bit more on  focusing while performing. I personally find acting in front of people embarrassing but dancing enjoyable.
Some of the things that Drama had helped with my dance is facial expressions. I’ll try and achieve a 6 out of 8 for drama by the end of the year.
Something that causes me to stop focusing I think is the way I act silly. So I also want to improve my acting skills.

Time Management

Today in Tutor class, Ms. Clifford showed us a website where it tells you how you can use time wisely and keep track of your homework.
http://www.studygs.net/timman.htm
We were first asked to fill in the pie chart to show how many hours you spent time on Studying, Sleeping, Socializing, Exercising, etc and how many hours you have left.
This is my result.↓ I had about 1 hour left.

After we were finished completing the chart, we chose one strategy to keep track of our homework and how we’re going to do it.

I chose to use the strategy, “Dedicated study places.” This means to Determine a place free from distraction. And to also stay away from cell phones so that you won’t get distracted by friends texting you. I will try and stay away from my little brother because he is annoying.

When we chose our strategy, we all shared it on wall wisher. http://wallwisher.com/wall/time-management

My Future Plans and Smart Goals
Posted on August 29th, 2012 at 11:50 am by and

My dream is to be a Professional dancer. To make this really happen I decided to set SMART Goals for myself. I don’t think I can be a Professional dancer without setting any goals.
Smart Goal means:

Specific- Clearly state in detail what my goal is, by whom, when, and why its important
Measurable- When you think you’re going to achieve that goal, when you’re going to do it and how much
Attainable- My goal should be achievable. If it’s unlikely to be achieved I shouldn’t choose to do it.
Relevant- My goal should be relevant. Even if I want to do something other than dancing I have to still stick with my goal or else it is not achievable.
Time-based- My goal should have a Time-frame to it. Deciding when you want to achieve it can be a good motivator. It can prevent you
from doing something else because you know there’s a dead line.

To be a Professional Dancer, I think that the most important subject in school that I should develop is P.E and Drama.
Looking at my Report from last year, my score for Drama was awful so this year I’m planning to get a better score.
For P.E  my score was half way through but I hope I can make it better.
One thing I should do outside from school is to participate in dance activities and excersize at home.
I think I’ve made my legs flexible enough to do a split so my next goal is to make my upper body flexible.

P.E
To improve my score in P.E I think I need more confidence.
I’ll try to be confident by doing things that my friends or teachers suggest. I’ve already heard from 3 people saying that you can really improve your confidence by joining the school play and they all said the exact same thing.
For my grades, I won’t probably reach a full mark but I am aiming for an 7, 8, 9 out of 10 by the end of year. I really wish that we have P.E 4 times a week instead of 2.
Why I should Improve my P.E skills
I want to improve my P.E skills because dancing includes  a lot of moving. Some people say that dancing is not a sport, its an art so it’s pointless to improve your P.E skills but I still think it’s a sport. And I loooove P.E although I find things a little hard :)

Drama
To improve my score in Drama, I need to be able to focus because when I’m always acting something out, I lose concentration.
I usually lose concentration when I look at the audience. For grades, I want to at least get a score higher than 5 or 6 out of 10 by the end of 7th grade.
Why I should improve my Drama skills
I want to improve my drama skills because dancing is not just “dancing”. Most of the dances should have some kind of a story in it to make it dramatic.

I need to have an facial expression that can be easily noticed by the audience. We use a lot of facial expressions in drama so I’m sure it’s going to work.

Participating in Dance activities and Excersizing
Currently, I’m in a Jazz dance club and I’m learning most of the dances there. I also like to make dances with my friends.
Right now, We (me and my other 4 friends) are practicing our dances for an event at school. We always choose our favorite songs
and look at some dance covers on youtube to learn the dances. I like performing it in front of the audience because it feels really like you’re a superstar and after it’s done it feels really good.
I’ve once performed in a event called Studentainment. It’s a school event where students show their talent in front of the whole
middle and high school. And I’ve performed at food fair twice

Other than Jazz dance, I’ve been in a dance group once in 4th grade and 5th grade and I used to do ballet (Well it wasn’t really an actual club for ballet. It’s just that we did ballet in Jazz dance),  Gymnastic (In a dance club when I was in 3rd grade) and Hip pop.
——————————————————————————————————————End of my personal story
I am aiming to excerisize for 30 minutes. I always do 5 minutes and I get bored and stop. I’ll make sure to do it where there is enough
space so that I won’t hurt myself.
I’ll keep hydrated mostly in the summer (NOW) so that I won’t get Heat stroke. I’ll eat a lot so that I have the right amount of energy.
I’ll keep Healthy by eating veggiiiiiieeeessss which I love more than meat or fish or anything :D But I will still keep balance by adding a few Protein.

Why Participate in Dance activities?
I’m making sure to participate in dance activities because I think it’s the best way you can get better at dancing.

And the teachers are professionals so they almost know everything about how it is to be an dancer. Last year in Jazz dance, my teacher gave me a lot of suggestions and advice and it was also really fun hearing her experiences.
Why excersize?
Because I want to become more flexible. I want to be flexible because then it’s going to become easier to do

clean kicks in dances.

Why do I want to be a Professional dancer?
The main reason why I want to be one is because I enjoy dancing. It seems really strange because my name actually means dancer.
I also think I should be one because I can’t stop moving around. Whenever the teacher’s talking I’m usually moving my hands around
or stomping my feet which other people find it distracting.

When I think I’m going to achieve that goal
I don’t know when I’m going to actually be one but I’m aiming for, by the time I graduate from university.
Not like right after university but after I get used to living by myself and have enough money.
