Art Line Drawing Reflection

In this unit, we compared a Line Drawing of Albert Dürer and Vincent Van Gogh’s Line drawing to see the tone, texture,  and more on how the drawing was and what type it was. Then we chose 3 pictures and made one picture out of those three and drew that picture using Line Drawing from using and discovering the techniques we learned in class and when comparing two arts. I tested out some line techniques for the mountain and tree before I started my drawing for example cross hatching while making a flow of a line in the mountain. Or making scribbles on top of the tree trunk.

In my drawing I think I did good on the saplings of the tree by putting detail not only on the tree but on everything and I try to draw and let there be no blank white space so it shows the detail. I also used the rule of thirds so, the drawing would look more efficient. I think I need to improve on the mountain on the line because I made it too dark and it doesn’t look like a real mountain or an line drawn mountain so I should have drawn it like the top of mountain Fuji. I also need to improve on the middle road maybe by adding more details so that it would look more like a road and put more tone to it so it wouldn’t look like a simple road. I also need to make the sky fade a bit dark as it comes closer to the tree and also I should have drawn a line on the clouds so it wouldn’t be empty. I need to work more on the train wheels and draw it more like a train so that other people can understand that it is a train and not a studio phone or microphone because the wheel is too small and the shape is weird for an upside train and I made some mistake during that part for example not testing out with pencil first. I managed to make it look like a wheel but, I need to work on not making a mistake and the form of the object.

Art Self Portrait

I think drawing myself (portrait) was the easy part but, making dark colors with black was hard because black was stronger than I thought it would be when I used it. Also it was hard to make the color I wanted because I accidentally  put black all over it before I even knew that black was a power full color. But I fixed the black parts by putting some dark yellows over or on the dark color, after it was dried.

During this unit, the strength was when I was drawing myself with a pencil, I softly shaded the parts so, that it wouldn’t be complicated to use dark colors when paining. The weakness was going into the difficult and important parts like going into painting the eye, the mouth and the nose because if they don’t  look realistic, then it wouldn’t be a good artwork.

I couldn’t answer this one because I didn’t finessed the background and I didn’t have time to do it.

Self Portrait

In our first unit we started our first drawing and it took about half a minute to do it. The parts where it was hard for me was the nose, the lips and the shadows. The nose was hard to make a line by the shadows, the lips were too unrealistic and I didn’t put too much shadows and the shadow was not even like a shading. I tried to put the hairs and the cloths realistic.

In our class we started to take pictures of our face and we needed  to put a line in the middle and put how long or what height of the land scape and stuff. The parts that were dark were the opposite parts of the face.

After we got a picture of our face we had to make our final self portrait and the teacher told us to trace the lines to your new portrait and we needed to draw the nose in the same place as the face picture. The parts that were too hard or soft are the noses edge cause the shadows were too hard. The neck was too small and it was too light for a neck. I used the side of the pencil to make the shadows and so it looked like a complete shadow without any lines.

I think I improvement I made at my mouth, nose, hair and the shadow. And even my Self Portrait improved more than I thought.
