French Les Deux Magots
by Jem on Mar.11, 2013, under Uncategorized
Historical background of your café
The café started life in 1813 as a drapery, selling silk and other luxury items. It took its name ‘Les Deux Magots’ from a successful play of that time: ‘The Two Magots of China’.By 1884 “Les Deux Magots” had transformed itself into a wine merchant’s on the corner of St Germain des Pres just as the area was transforming itself into a artistic quarter with the presence of the publishers Grasset and Gallimard and the theatre ‘Le Vieux Colombier’.
In 1914, Auguste Boulay, an ancestor of the present owners, realised the potential of the building’s location. After a refurbishment, the café “Les Deux Magots” emerged, and rapidly became the place to “see and be seen”. Soon, legendary figures of the art world were frequenting the café : Verlaine meets Mallarme, Oscar Wilde takes tea, Guillaume Appolinaire and others have animated debates on important issues of the day.
With the twenties came the exuberance and energy of the surrealist movement and its leading proponents could be found in passionate discussions over a coffee or a drink in “Les Deux Magots”. Then in 1933, after Andre Malraux had been awarded the prestigious Goncourt Prize for an academic novel, a group of enthusiastic writers decided that there should be another independent prize for talent and originality. At that moment “Le Prix des Deux Magots” was born and it was first awarded to Raymond Queneau for ‘Le Chiendent’.
Names of the famous people who frequented your café
Jean Paul Sartre, Simone de Beauvoir, etc…
The reason or purpose for those people to go to this café. Did they have a particular activity going on in this café?
Because people like to go to the cafe for a drink or lunch or just chill and rest
Has your café been at the origin of some changes in French society? Has it had any impact on any aspect of French society?
In the decades that followed up until the present day, “Les Deux Magots” has been a witness to the changes in art literature, philosophy and politics.
Is this café playing the same role nowadays and why/why not?
Yes I think it is because it is a very relaxing place for french people and tourists.
If you can have access to some figures, would you say that the number of cafés in France is generally increasing or decreasing? How would you explain this trend? What future developments can we foresee? Are there any new types of cafés that you are aware of?
I think it is increasing because people like to go to the cafe and stuff, and in the late eighties, a ‘ Les deux Magots’ opened in the cultural centre of Bunkamura in Tokyo as a restaurant and cafe with a french boutique of French products.
French cafés have existed for more than three hundred years. What is it that makes cafés still a popular tradition? Explore several aspects of your café and report on its location, its atmosphere, its menu and prices. From your results, what would you say contributes to making it a popular place?
I think it is still popular because cafes are places where people can relax and eat with friends.
Best Drama Speech
by Jem on Mar.10, 2013, under Uncategorized
this unit in Drama we have been working on our drama Speech. We were assigned to make a speech about what we like. I chose Fifa the game because this is my favourite game of all time. After we did the speech we were given a topic. The given topic I chose was about Celebrities. I had to do another speech but a different topic which was Celebrities. I had to make a blog post on which was better so I chose the fifa one. Here is the video.

I chose this one because when I compared this one with the other one this one looked more organized and well spoken.
Overall I think I did well.

Koto Trill Tutorial Reflection
by Jem on Apr.10, 2012, under Tech, Uncategorized
Hello all.
Do you remember when I blogged about my Koto trill tutorial storyboard? My real tutorial is finished! I just want to say that for some of you that dont know what is a Koto, I have recorded a little bit about the koto. This is my very first tutorial I have ever done so this is not the best kind of tutorial you have seen.
Jem’s Koto Trill Tutorial from YIS Academics on Vimeo.
I think I did a good job on this tutorial because I took a lot of effort into it. I also worked well with the lights so you can see the koto. I made my face not show because if I showed my face you cant see the koto. I hoped this tutorial worked well for you people that dont know how to do the koto trill. In conclusion I think that I did a good job by using a good place to do the tutorial and using the lights.

We can show great tutorials if we add clear voices, lights, explanations that are not so detailed. My most important criteria is having a clear voice so the reader or the person that is looking at the video. I chose that criteria because if the tutorial watcher does not know what the person that is talking about the tutorial is saying, it will be a problem.
My second most important criteria is making the tutorial not so detailed because if it is too detailed it will be hard for the person to understand what the person that is explicating what he is talking about. This is very important to me because if the tutorial watcher does not understand they might make a comment that is a complain and I don’t want any complains.
My third most important criteria is to have clear pictures. It is very important to have clear pictures because if you are making a tutorial you will have to add pictures because sometimes when the explinator makes a mistake, the tutorial watcher will need to see a picture to know where to press or what to do.
On my tutorial storyboard I think I did well on making my script. I think the script was similar to the steps because the steps are the same as the script in a way. In a way means that the steps are the things to do and the script is the thing to say about the steps. I need to work on my pictures because I need to make my own pictures. It took me some time to make my own pictures in doozla.

Holiday!!!
by Jem on Jan.10, 2012, under Fun, Uncategorized
On the holidays I had BIG fun! I went to England to celebrate Christmas and had New Years at Japan.
This Christmas I went to England with one of my cousins called Daigo and my parents. When we arrived in England we stayed in a hotel in London. The area where the hotel is located is very famous. The area is called Seven Dials in Covent Garden. It is famous for it’s old markets and many funky shops. The funkiest shop I thought was a favourite of mine, KidRobot from New York.
The second day in England we did some Christmas shopping. I got a new pair of football boots and the guys in the shop stitched my name on the side that says Jem 7! In the evening we went to watch a musical called Billy Elliot. It was a stunning, amazing and THE BEST! One suprising part of the musical was the language in it. Lots and Lots of swear words. Shocking!
The 3rd day in England we went to the famous winter fun fair in Hyde Park called Winter Wonderland and that was Wonderfland! I had so much fun. I went on 6 attractions. My top 3 were…
2 Super fast rollercoaster roundy roundy thing.
1. THE HANGING JETCOASTER!
Sorry but I do not have a picture of the Hanging Jetcoaster because we were all in it… Sorry.
On the 4th day in England we went to Bristol where my grandparents live. Bristol is very far from London so it took about 3 hours by car. When we arrived my grandparents and I had a good talk. My grandma is such a good cook that she could be famous! Not only is she is good at cooking she is also good at doing stained glass.
The 5th day in England… ITS CHRISTMAS! On the day I couldn’t wait to open my prezyzzzz. It was very fun when I opened my presents. I got a lot of things but my best present was a skateboard deck.
After Christmas my cousins Cameron and Annabel came over. It was so fun having them around. We played everything together. Before my cousins came my family did a game where you gamble for tokens called Newmarket. It was very fun.

Eventually it was time to go back to Japan. It was very sad to leave my family. I really loved it being together. I hope I’m going next year as well. It was great fun. In conclusion I think it was the best holiday in my whole life… Yet!

I think that my header of my blog is good because there is two different kind of sport things. For my backround I need to improve because I have two mega super soccer players but you can only see one mega star that is Cristiano Ronaldo. To improve on my backround I need to put one mega star of any sport.
I am very proud of my blog because a lot of people have looked at my blog and a lot of people from Iran have commented on my blog. I am mostely proud of my posts because I put a lot of effort to it so that a lot of people from all around the world can enjoy my blog and my posts. The least thing that I am proud of is the About Me page because I didn’t put many pictuers and I didn’t say what I like and things like that.
I can become a better blogger if I go onto my blog and start tiping about my day or maybe a school bsketball or soccer match or something like that so that I can get a lot of people to look at my blog. Maybe I can improve more on my About Me page and some of my widgets. But the thing that I need to work on the most is my backtround picture.
