My speech:

Music: Japanese Music

In music class a guest named Mr, Bruce a friend of our teacher Mr, Patterson came to talk about Japanese music. He introduced 3 different kinds of instruments. A koto, shyamisen and the shyakuhachi. The koto is a long piece of wood with 13 strings on it. shyakuhachi is a Japanese flute with 4 holes in the front and 1 in the back. It sound like the wind. The shyamisen is a japanese loot with 3 strings and we use a pick to play it. The teachers and the guest, Mr, bruce played 5 songs in total for us. Eghigo Jishi, Honkyouku, Kaze no Uta which means song of the wind, Gensoukyoku means fantasy and the song my teacher and Mr, bruce made together, Deep forest. I liked Deep forest the most because it sounded like nature which I think Japanese music is about and the instruments make the sound of nature so I thought it really fits together. I liked the Shaykuhachi the most because I thought it was interesting how the sound sounded like the wind. The shyamisen surprised me the most because the pick was about 5 times the size of the koto picks. He also talked about the History of the instruments. I found it interesting that they all came from China but still very popular in Japan. I really enjoyed his visit because I learned a lot about Japanese music.

Line drawing: Reflection

In art class we have been drawing a landscape just with different types line techniques to illistrate different landscapes and we needed to think of how thick the lines are going to be or how long they are going to be to get the shading. We made our own landscape by choosing 3 different pictures and putting them together. I drew a mountain with a gravel road and a fence by the side.

 

For my drawing I think I could have improved on many parts. First I think I could have added something to the sky because it looks empty when there are actually clouds there, so I could have made the clouds somehow and add something to the sky. When I looked at my drawing at the end, I noticed that my fence was camouflaged into the grass so  you couldn’t see it as clearly. So I think I should have changed how the fences look to make them stand out by using different line techniques. Also I noticed that I didn’t add any shadows anywhere when there are actually places where I can add shadows. For example the fence, I could have added shadows there.

I think I did well with the mountain. I thought that the mountain actually looked like one and I thought I did a good job describing it. I tried to describe the lighter bits and the darker bits with different line techniques. I also think I described the grass really well, other than the part where it camouflages into the fence. I think I did good on making it actually look like grass even though grass is just lines, I needed to do something to it to make the grass more realistic.

Overall I am proud with my work but still there is a lot to improve on so on my next drawing I will make sure I have everything and review it more often so I can spot my mistake faster and fix it. I really enjoyed this unit of line drawing and I am glad I think I did good on my drawing.

Drama: speech

In drama class we have been planning a speech about a given topic. The topics were the best day of my life, celebrety, neighbor and one more. I chose the best day of my life. I first didn’t know which day was the best for me but I thought of my 3 year old birthday because I remember every bit of that day and it was a very fun day. Definitely that wasn’t the only best day but of course it was one of the best. I think I did good with my volume and projection. But I know I could have worked on my pause and emphasis because I think I didn’t pause much so my speech will be more dynamic and interesting.

Science: Student led conference

For student led conference I chose to show my element law poster. We chose an element and made a poster about that particular element. I chose the element As which stands for Arsenic. We chose a element and we researched on all the facts the element had. I chose this poster because I put a lot of effort into it but I know I also could have done better. For example I think I did good with the details and the facts but I know I could have improve on the organization.

Bully: tutor

Bullying is a major problem in all across the world. There are many types of bullying. Cyber bullying where you bully people online, physical bullying includes any physical contact that would hurt or injure a person like hitting, kicking, punching, etc. Taking something that belongs to someone else and destroying it would also be considered a type of physical bullying, verbal bullying  is name-calling, making offensive remarks, or joking about a person’s religion, gender or because they look different. Indirect bullying is spreading rumors about other people and excluding others from the group.
When people get bullied mostly the persons school grades, attitudes and many others would change. Their school grades get worse and they become more shy and less talkative.

What are strategies to deal with bullying?
1, Walk away when you have the chance to
2, Tell your teachers, parents etc.
3, Tell them to stop (if it doesn’t work use number 2)

Why do people bully?
1, Once a victim of bullying and revenge
2, Issues with family friends etc.
3, wanting power.

PE: Good sportsmanship

In PE class we looked at good sportsmanship.

I thought that this was good sportsmanship because the boy missed the free throws on purpose because he felt sorry for the boy who lost his mom. I also thought that the coach was very good trying to not take the free throws.

Drama mime: Airplane

In drama class out topic now is mime. We got into groups and chose a topic out of four. Our group chose “airplane”

Our groups topic was about Sungwon and Mimi, the customers and me the flight attendant and Keina, the captain. When I was telling the customers the safety rules Mimi isn’t listing to me so she wasn’t sure  what to do when the plane was crashing. The plane was crashing because the food tasted so bad that Sungwon went to complain to the captain. The captain was into fighting back instead of flying the plane. So the plane went out of control and went down. We could have shown that the plane was crashing more clearly by being more dramatically and overreacted. I think I did good with explaining the safety rules and that I over exaggerated when I ate the disgusting food.

Digital Story Reflection

In technology class we have been making a Digital story. My story was about a monster called horse man who lives in Japan and bites people when it’s hungry. The person who is bit would get really sick. So I wrote about him

The things I did good in my story is that I made it a bit funny and clever so the audience wouldn’t get bored and I also had a good costume. I had a horse head mask so I looked like a horse, the mask was really realistic so the the costume was also good quality. Also i tried to make my photo’s bad quality to make them look scarier and more interesting, because if you make the pictures so clear you can see the horse man so clearly and it wouldn’t be that interesting id you can see everything.

There were also some things that I can improve as well. I didn’t add any music of any voice to my story. It was only writing, so it was a bit boring to just read for 5 minutes. i could have added scary music in the background and my voice too to make it much more interesting to watch. Also I could have added a video for example an interview of someone who was bit before.

Overall I think I did good with my project but I could have improved a lot too. For example I could have added videos, my voice and also a video of an interview of a person who got bit. If I added those things I know that it would be a lot better and more interesting.

Koto: Recording

These are my recordings of a piece called Taka. I think i did fine but I know there is a lot I could fix. I made some mistakes and I was also stuck at some point. To avoid this next time all I need to do is practice until I get is smooth and I get confident. I think I did good by trying to add the dynamics to the piece.
