In English we watched Indiana Jones Raiders of the Lost Ark.
We then were assigned to experts groups about different topics. I was put into the Symbolism group along with Johan, Charlotte and Sean. We then made a Voice Thread presentation where we talked about our reflection. Below is our group reflection. Hope you enjoy!
When I write stories I should try to connect my paragraphs so the reader understands the order. I should try to use more connecting words to connect my paragraphs. I should try to use better grammar. In the exam I used “ing” in the wrong place when I should’ve used “ed.” In a news report reporters exaggerate stories so it catches more of the reader’s attention. I think I can develop this skill even more.
How will I do it?
When I read books or newspapers I should look how the author or reporter connects the paragraphs so I can develop my own skills. In a news report the reporter connects each paragraph with one sentence or word so people are still hooked with the idea. When reading a book or story the author is really good at using the right grammar. So when I read books I should look at how and where they use it so when I write a story I can use the right grammar. Sometimes when I tell a story I sometimes exaggerate the story. I think I should transfer this into my stories.
In Technology class we have just finished our Tutorial Unit. We were then asked to video-tape ourselves speaking about our Evaluate reflection. In this Teachers of the Future unit we had a reflection of our Investigate, Create and Plan. Below is my Evaluate Reflection hope you enjoy.
Yesterday, May 10th we went to the Tokyo National Museum. This was right after we went to the Ueno museum. Here we saw different animals. I expected a lot and that’s what I saw. I was really surprised when I saw the swords.
I really liked the Jomon Vessele with Flame-like Ornamentation.
For me this pot looks Korean, Chinese and Japanese. With the line work it look Korean and the shape looks Chinese. Even though this looks Korean or Chinese it was made by a Japanese person. This is known to be made 2000-3000 years before. The line work is supposed to be flame-like so that’s how it’s called the Jomon Vessele with Flame-like Ornamentation.
I chose this pot because it caught my attention because of the lines. These lines are really different because they have a unique shape. The top is bigger than the bottom which is normal but how it becomes wider is unique. The bumps and different lines confuses the viewer what the creator was trying to show.
In drama we have been doing a unit on dancing and movement. We had to choose a theme in a group and make dance connected to the theme. In my group I was with Sungwon. Our theme was James Bond.
When we practiced infront of the class they gave us 3 different feedback. One of them was to struggle when Sungwon ties me up with the chain. We used this in our final performance. We thought this would make it look like we I was actually tied up. Another feedback was to add music that would fit our performance. Lastly they said to put in slow-motion because then the audience could see that it was a intense moment.
I thought struggling when Sungwon tied me up was a good thing to put in because it would make it more realistic. When he ties me up it gives a feeling an anger and determination to kill each other. With slow-motion the audience can see how much the two characters wanted to kill each other. This would make it intense and more interesting. We chose a song called Miserlou. We thought this was a good choice since it was upbeat and it sounded like it was a secret agent song so it fit our theme. This helped us fit in more thing so it looked more realistic.
This unit was really good because we could transfer feeling and feedback into a good performance.
In English I have been reading a detective book called Murder on The Orient Express by Agatha Christie. I thought this book was full of suspense and mystery.
I had 1 comment on my first podcast and the person said to add more questions. I think I didn’t put these things into this podcast. I should improve on these if we have a next podcast.
I think if I worked with other people we could have a discussion about the book and we could put our ideas to make an even better podcast since a group of people are contributing their ideas so the podcast would be great.
I could improve by putting in more questions then answer them. I could also sound more enthusiastic so the audience would think that I really liked this book which I did.
Below is my podcast if you have any comment or questions comment.
In PE we have just finished our gymnastics unit. A a group of four we were asked to make a gymnastics routine including the spring-board, different types of rolles (forward roll, backward roll) and flips (Cartwheel, round-offs). In my group we had Kousuke, Jack, Yudai and I. Hope you enjoy!
We had a variety of balances and during on time going through the spring-board we had a sequence and I thought it looked good. We had front-flips off the spring-board. We had cartwheels and various types of rolls.
When we moved into our balances I thought it flowed well together because we were moving towards where the balance was going to be. We tried to make the movements make it look good and make it easier to go into the balace position. When we were running to the spring-board it looked un-neat and slow.
One of the challenges was trusting people with your body when they lift you up because they might throw me off as a joke and I could get injured. I would also say there was scary moments such as someone jumping over me or almost falling on me. Because other people are bigger it’s sometimes scary having to pick them up because if they fell and got hurt it would be my fault.
I overcame these challenges by taking a risk and letting the other people do what they want and trust them. Sometimes this was hard but I thought they worked hard and I worked hard to trust other people. I made sure I never thought that the other members of the group wouldn’t do those mean things. I was thinking correctly since they never hurt or tried to hurt me.
I thought doing flips and tricks off the vault was really fun because even though I could get hurt it was really fun spinning and knowing I accomplished something. When you flip you have less than a millisecond where you have doubt that you might get hurt but once that’s gone the sensation of landing and being in one piece is amazing. The balances were really fun since we could try out new balances and make our own to make our routine look better. There was different types but I thought that trying them out was fun since all of them were different so it was fun experimenting.
Our practice sessions were enjoyable but productive. We got the small parts done so it looked smoother. Sometimes we had difficulty focusing but once we got back on task we got work done. Our member gave helpful but constructive comments and these comments helped us make a better performance. We made sure that once we performed that wouldn’t make mistakes or forget what to do next. We practiced somethings over and over so we wouldn’t mess up and it payed off.
If we performed again I would have one person do a small solo act while the other member moved to the vault so no one would notice the other members moving so it would look better. I would also make sure everyone else knew what to do at the right time so we wouldn’t have to speak or tell each other what to do next.
We had good help from our teacher Ms.Buehler who also told us better ways to improve our performance and small things we were doing wrong.
I thought our group had a strong enjoyable performance and I hoped you enjoyed. If you have any comments, comment.
