Spring concert – Ryu Ryu reflection

We have been working on a Piece called “Ryu Ryu” in koto class. We finally performed it in the spring concert.

I thought my preparation was good, because I was able to memorize and play the piece with dynamics by the concert. There were some weeks where I did not practice as much because of other things I needed to do. Memorizing the music was not so hard for me, but when the dynamics were added, I had to think about getting the dynamics right and getting the notes right which made me forget what the next section of the piece is.

In class we play as an ensemble, so everyone needs to be able to get the timing right, for example after a rest we need to come in at the same time or else it would sound unorganized. Also as a group we need to the dynamics correct, since there is a lot of people in our group, it is easy to play loud but harder to play soft, so we needed to play our softs as soft as we can and loud as loud as we can so that the audience can hear a difference.

I think that I did a good job, I did not make a lot of mistakes and I tried my best. If I play like no one is watching me or like when I practice it helps me to be more fluent, accurate, when I play with a lot of pressure thinking there are many people it is harder to concentrate. This also goes for most presentations, I mostly do better in my practices than real one, but if I don’t think about it so much when presenting I stumble less.

Overall, I think that our group did a excellent job in the concert. When listening to it in on video I was really impressed in our performance, we don’t practice all together in every class which means everyone was working hard at home. This is probably my last performance with this whole group because next year I am not continuing koto as a subject but for a after school activity. I really like our group, I think we are a great group and hope we get to perform all together again sometime.

Drama singing in the rain

In Drama class we have been looking at creative movements and we watched this video and had a little discuss about how he moves and how he uses his props the umbrella.
I realized that the umbrella was not only used as a umbrella it was also used a a cane.

This is a video of Gene Kelly singing in the rain. our class looked at videos of people dancing and we are now working on our own dance conbination with our groups of two, three or four. One of the videos we watched is singing in the rain, if you want to watch singing in the rain video then look above.

I like Gene Kelly’s video because he uses his props in a creative way. Gene Kelly’s way of dancing because he has a creative, natural and confident. He is very cheerful, happy and energetic, his acting looks like it’s really it’s happening. Gene Kelly always had a smile on his face and his voice sounded he was really happy about something. When he was dancing he was also acting, to make it more like a story.

First I was wondering how they shot this scene, was it on a real street? But it was raining really hard so it was not a real street. How Gene Kelly danced and singed on stage made the stage actually look more realistic. I really like how he uses his big space on the stage, there was cars and other people but even withought

Gene Kelly’s rhythm is very confident and matches the topic of the video. He keeps his rhythm the same all the way, he matches his rhythm to his dance or movements. He uses his arms and legs to kind of make the rhythm stand out.

If you watch this video then you will know how fantastic and interesting Gene Kelly’s style, movements, act and his expression looks like. If you watch carefully you could see the smile on his face.

Talk 2 reflection

In our second speech in Drama we talked about a person that we know, a friend or person in our family. In this  speech I chose to talk about my little brother.

My strengths:

I think I did better at  changing my tone of voice than the first time I made my speech. This time I did not look at my cards as much as my first speech.

My weakness:

But the next time I do a speech I want to use more body movements and speak in a louder voice than this time.

I want to remember my lines more better.
