7B Drama: Group Mimes from YIS Arts on Vimeo.

In Drama we are doing a mime unit. In this unit we had to make a scene where we have to pass an object all around the other people in our group. This was a bit hard because you have to show the size and shape of the object that we pass around. Sometimes it can also be about the weight of the object because it will help the audience see what your passing around. My group is with Krysta, Siavon and Rhiannu. We made up a scene all by ourselves and practiced and performed it in front of the class.

I think that our performance was pretty successful. I think that We could have made what we were passing around more clear. Since me and Siavon was passing drinks and sandwiches we could have made it more clear because I thought some people didn’t know what we were passing around. Other than that I think we had a pretty successful performance.

I think we were pretty good at using the space. The reason is that when me and Siavon were going to play we went to the side so we wouldn’t be all squashed with Rhiannu while she was setting up her chair. Another reason is when we were hiding from Krysta and Rhiannu, we also went to the side so they can both look around before finding us. The last reason is when Siavon and I came in we made sure to sit on opposite of each other so we would have space to set up the blanket and the food for the picnic.

I interacted with all the characters. I interacted with Siavon when we setted up for the picnic and when we played together while Rhiannu sets up her chair. I interacted with Rhiannu when I was laughing at her and she gets angry at both me and Siavon. I interacted with Krysta by hiding from her and she catches me and Siavon and gets mad at us too. We all interacted with each other when we ask Krysta if she wanted to sit with us but instead we give her a sandwich and says goodbye.

I think at some parts it was believable and some wasn’t believable. I think when we were passing around the food it wasn’t really believable but I think we did do a pretty good job at it. The part that wasn’t really very believable was the part when Siavon and I were hiding behind a tree while Krysta was looking for us. It wasn’t really that believable because there was some parts when we made some mistakes and it wasn’t really believable when she was looking at one side and we were looking at another side.

This unit in Tech class we had to tell a story using technology. We each had to plan what story we were going to do and how we were going to do it. Some people decided to draw their story and some people decided to act it out. I decided to act my story out. We had a few weeks to plan the whole thing out, film and to edit it all together. I made up this story about two girls getting notes from a mysterious person and decide to help each other find out who the notes come from. I asked my friend Rhiannu to play one of the girls with me. We sometimes used camera and sometimes used our computers to film. After I finished filming with her I started editing all of the footage together to make a digital story.

I didn’t really research much for my digital story at the start. I don’t think that my time management was very good because at the last part I was kind of hurrying to finish the editing, the audio was a bit messed up. At some parts the audio would be loud and some parts it would be quiet. I think that if I had more time then I would have made that part better. However I think that the overall content is pretty good and I learned a lot more about using iMovie. The next time I would probably fix the audio so that it’s not too loud or too quiet. I think next time I should research a bit more on how to make my story so that my video will be better.

I think that my brainstorm could have been more descriptive because my ideas were very general so I think I could have gave more details. When we did the tool investigation I think that I could have also put in more detail than I originally did. I think the tool investigation was not very good because it didn’t have enough detail and I didn’t really write much about the pros and cons of iMovie or Doozla. I think that my storyboard also needs work because the drawings are very good and I didn’t really draw every single frame there would be. I think that next time I should put more detail in my storyboard and into my tool investigation. There were some parts where I should have added more to the brainstorming part of it.

My timeline wasn’t very good because I didn’t organize it very well so I had to rush some parts to get the movie finished. The filming was easy to do except for the last scene of the movie because, the last scene had a lot of noise in the background so you couldn’t really hear the voices. The editing part I think I could have spent more time on editing the audio because the volume of the audio was changing the whole time. This part was pretty easy for me because I just had to film it and put it together. However I think I should have worked harder on trying to make the audio match with each of the other parts of the video. Next time I think I should get the filming down quicker so that I can work on the editing part of the process. That would be good to do because then I could have worked harder on trying to make the finished product better.

In conclusion I think that I did a pretty good job at some parts but I think I need to work a bit more so that it would be better. On the investigate part of the process I should have researched about how to make my video better. On the plan part I think I should have planned out when I was going to do something because at the end I was a bit rushed to be finished. At the create part I think I did a good job but I could have made more effort into the editing part of that. Overall I think that next time I should plan out what I’m going to do first so that I won’t have to rush anything.

In tutor class today we talked about how the different factors in our life can influence our decision making. We went into groups and had a discussion on what the different influences we have in our class. A few of the things that we thought was an influence to our decisions were our religion, relatives, friends, environment, the government, your brain, media, teachers, money, peers and popularity. These are some of the things that we thought would influence our decisions.

These are the heart rate I had after I did some activities.

When I ran I had the highest heart rate. I think I had the highest heart rate when I was running is because I was running for a long time. Since I ran for a longer time than the other activity I had a higher heart rate then. I think that this information is pretty reliable. It being reliable means that it is the exact heart rate. A way for someone to check if their information is reliable is to do the test again and if you get the same information then it means that the information is reliable. A few months ago we made a line graph of how long it took for us to recover from exercising and this time when we did the activity graph we made it into a bar chart. The reason for not making this graph into a line graph is because if we use a bar chart it’s easier to see the information of the heart rate if it is a bar chart. To recover it’s easier to see from a line graph because then it’s easier to see when your heart rate recovers. The data will be different if my fitness would have been different. It would be different because if my fitness increased my heart rate would be lower because I would be more fit. Our next unit is the disease essay in the disease essay we will pick a disease and we will write a whole essay about it. We have a different range of diseases and we have to research about it and then explain it.

Health is being able to have a good mental state, a good physical state and a good social state. Having a good mental state means to have control over your feelings and wouldn’t be depressed all the time. Social well being means to talk to friends family and communicating with people. A physical well being is when you are good at exercises and being active.

There are some main parts of fitness for example cardiovascular endurance, flexibility, muscular strength and body composition. Cardiovascular endurance is having to exercise for a long amount of time. Having a good  cardiovascular endurance is when exercising for a very long time and when having a bad cardiovascular endurance means that exercising for a very long time can be hard because you would get tired faster. Flexibility is being able to make your body into different shape. Body composition is about if your body is fit and how much muscle and fat is in your body. Having muscular strength is to have strong muscle to be able to lift heavy things.

It’s good to take fitness test because after you get the results you would know what you could improve on and what your strengths are. An easy way to test your cardiovascular endurance is by doing the cooper test. A way to check for the muscular endurance and the muscular strength is to check how many push up or sit ups you can do in a one minute. We also did a flexibility test where we sat down with our legs straight out in front of us and we reach try to reach to our toes using our arms. When we were doing these test we were in groups and one of us would use a stopwatch and count how many sit ups or push ups we did. When we did the flexibility test we had a box and there was a scale on top and there was a hole where we can put our feet in. With the scales on top of the box we would reach as far as we can and our partner would see where we reached to. I think if I wanted to compare my results with someone else I could look at their blog to see what they posted our ask them about it and talk about how we can improve on our bad areas.

Looking at the results I got from the tests I did I think that I need to do more work on my fitness. I realize that my cardiovascular endurance is not very good so I think that is something I need to work on. Another thing I think that I need to work on is my flexibility. Even though I think that my flexibility is that bad I still think that I could work on it to get better and have a fit life. Overall I think that the important thing I need to focus on is my cardiovascular endurance because I can not really run for a very long time because I get tired so I think I can improve on my cardiovascular endurance so that I can run for a longer amount of time.

My three goals:

1. improving on my cardiovascular endurance

To do that:

To improve on my cardiovascular endurance I think that I should sometimes go running outside of school to get better and more used to it so that I can run longer times.

2. Improving on my flexibility

To do that:

To improve on my flexibility I think that I should stretch more in the morning or in the afternoon. I think that it will help because then my muscles would be more used to it.

3. Muscular strength (to be able to do more push ups)

To do that:

I think to improve on my muscular strength I could maybe do some push ups a day to get used to it. I think that this would help me improve on this area.

Conclusion:

I think that I did pretty well in this unit and I learned a lot about my health and what areas I should improve on. After this unit I have started thinking more about my fitness and how I can improve on it. If I do a fitness test again some other time I hope I would have improved more on these areas and would be able to improve on other things too.

How are the actors showing emotion?

The Actors show their emotions by there facial expression, gesture and what they do. They also exaggerate their emotion so that it’s easier for people to see what is happening without sound. For example when the girl is sad she just stares into space and then breaks down crying.

What emotions are being shown?

In the start I notice that everything was fine and they were acting normal. Then it zooms in on the girl and she is tying something then she starts breathing heavily  and staring into space finally, she breaks down crying on the rock next to her. I also notice that when he finally notices that she was crying he completely stops what he was doing and goes over to confort her. When she looks up agin I notice that she wasn’t looking into his eyes so that could mean that she was embarrassed so she didn’t want to look at him. Her expression then changes and she starts to look more confident and she finally looks at him and stands up with him. They then walk to the road he stops and tells her to smile. They both smile and walk down the road.

In science we are looking at what different kinds of nutrients are in a food. For this task we each chose one food and we tested it for Protein, Fat, Starch and Glucose. I chose Banana as my food. We brought our own food and started experimenting with it to find out which nutrients were in the food. I tested it and in the end I found that there was a lot of carbohydrate (starch and glucose) and there was only a little of protein and there was no fat inside. After we finished testing our foods we put all the information that we found out from the test into a presentation. We had graphs that show what kinds of nutrients were inside. This is the finished presentation.  I think that I could have spent more time on the presentation and maybe I could have put more detail in it. I also should have been more organized with putting together my work.
