Grade 7 Field Studies: Visual Journals

During Field Studies (October 15th, Monday ~ October 19th, Friday), we kept a Visual Journal to keep a record about the things we did in Field Studies. Here is a slide of my pages in my Visual Journal (I forgot to take a picture of some pages.):

Field Studies Learner Profile @ fifth day

I was also Reflective because I was thinking back about Field Studies and the Camp Site, what happened at each activity, the thing we always had to wake up at 7:00, how much the food was good, and about the day we first came to Hakuba.

Field Studies Learner Profile @ fourth day

I was a Thinker because I was thinking about what kind of curry we were going to eat and we arrived to the top of the mountain. I also I thought with Rachel and Elina about what to do, what to say, and what to change for the skit the whole 6th grade is doing. Our skit didn’t have humor in at the beginning, but we put a little bit of humor in it, and it was funny!

I was Balanced because at Rock Climbing, I tried different holds (grips) so I can climb to the very top. I tried to go left or right when I can’t reach the holds above. I also tried to go I tried different ways to get across the river when we were river cleaning (to tell the truth, river playing)because we were playing when we got to the lake (but we still collected garbage on the way). I also searched different places for garbage.

Field Studies Learner Profile @ second day

I was also a Risk-Taker because I was scared of Mountain Biking and Canoeing at the beginning like falling off my bike on rocky hills and falling into the water and becoming wet but even though there was some thrill in both, but Mountain Biking and Canoeing were both very fun!!

Field Studies Learner Profile @ first day

In Field Studies, I was one of the IB learner profiles for each day.

I was a Communicator because I talked with my friends when we were trying to solve problems during the scavenger hunt, talked about the curry when it was lunchtime, when we broke up in groups and played games when we got to the top of the mountain, and when we were helping make dinner with everyone who wanted to help.

Expectations about Field studies

On Monday, October 17th, grade 6 is going to Hakuba for field studies for 4 nights, 5 days.

What  I expect to do on field study

My image of field studies was camping, hiking, and having fun!!! I was very excited about field studies especially after the earthquake in 5th grade because we couldn’t go to camp. I am very excited about hot air ballooning because I never went on a hot air balloon.

What I expect to be the best thing about the field study

The best thing I expect to be the best thing in field studies is Hiking because it seems very fun and we get to see the environment of Hakuba.
