So we are deciding to make a mini booklet for Capture the Flag.  Our aim for this is explain a strategy for a particular part of the game. Our audience is grade 6 students. On a page that has our strategy has a method/instructions,(present a series of ordered steps (use numbers or bullets) headings, sub-headings, pictures and diagrams help clarify the text) conclusion(variations or issues with the strategy) and an aim.  Here is a link to my page that has my strategy that I made for capture the flag and a example of the page.

I am really happy that I got a 7 because this is the highest score i’ve got during 7th grade and I am really happy that I clearly and have identified and analysed the main ideas and surroundings mining clearly, and its organized and has good scientific vocabulary in clear sentences. Next time I will focus more on the effects on society rather than on me as individual.

This is my poster for Asteroid Mining

Values http://blogs.yis.ac.jp/18miyazakis/2013/04/18/values/ http://blogs.yis.ac.jp/18miyazakis/2013/04/18/values/#comments Thu, 18 Apr 2013 04:07:15 +0000 Sena http://blogs.yis.ac.jp/18miyazakis/?p=815 Our Values

Last Year I made a wordle about my values and this year we made one again and we compared it. On my first one I had happiness, family, teamwork, imaginative, fun, creativity, cheerful, variety, talkative, organized, determined, naive, generosity, enjoyment, hyper and adventure. This year I wrote Optimistic, creative, goofy, energetic, silly, positive, family and twin sister.

The difference between both of them are on the first one I had a variety of things about me and connected to school and life but this time I had something more personal such as twin sister and since I’m moving to England my point of view has changed a bit, thats why I think positive about the move. Our values changed because we are growing older and our lives are changing so our mind and our personalities changes and our values. Our surrounding and events and things that happen in our lives changes our values especially when you move to another country.

Here is my second one, my favorite one

Music Visitor http://blogs.yis.ac.jp/18miyazakis/2013/04/11/music-visitor/ http://blogs.yis.ac.jp/18miyazakis/2013/04/11/music-visitor/#comments Thu, 11 Apr 2013 08:35:16 +0000 Sena http://blogs.yis.ac.jp/18miyazakis/?p=808 Today in music class we had a visitor and he played a He played the shakuhachi, which is a wooden Japanese vertical flute which made low pitch sounds and high pitch sounds. He and other two people played 3 music pieces and overall I think I liked the first one which was the one that a person sung while playing a shamisen and a lady playing the koto and the visitor who played the flute. It was calming and relaxing. It was mostly about japanese music. I learnt that blowing into a flute is hard because 2 people in our grade tried it and they couldn’t really make a sound.

I think that out of the three the instrument I liked the most was the shakuhachi, because I had never heard it before, and it had an cool history to it and both Japanese and Chinese culture. The Koto and the shamisen was interesting too but out of all of them I choose the shakuhachi. Overall I think it was fun and it was a pleasure for him to come to Y.I.S and I hope more things like this happen in the future in Y.I.S.

Movement Composition http://blogs.yis.ac.jp/18miyazakis/2013/04/11/movement-composition/ http://blogs.yis.ac.jp/18miyazakis/2013/04/11/movement-composition/#comments Thu, 11 Apr 2013 08:30:49 +0000 Sena http://blogs.yis.ac.jp/18miyazakis/?p=804 In P.E. we have been learning about dance. We did a dinner dance which was when we went in a group and danced around and on top of a table. We also did gangnam style dance and we did the dance with a partner and my partner was Zerric. For the gangnam style dance we had to make up 1.37 minutes of our dance. My favorite one was the gangnam style dance because I had more fun and it’s more confortable working with a partner than a group.

During the group dinner dance I think I contributed with the group and organized most parts with a few of my group members. It was hard finding the song for our dance and some of our group members didn’t concentrate with the group so our dance wasn’t that organized. It was fun practicing the dinner dance and putting ideas in the dinner dance was the hardest because it had to match the music. Me, Juulia, Raveena and Elina made up most of the dance. Overall I think our dance was creative and interesting and entertaining and energetic and we had some humor in our dance to entertain our audience.

During the gangnam style dance me and Zerric my partner for the dance, we practiced a lot in class. We thought of ideas at home and we showed it to each other and we mashed it up and we also put parts of the gangnam style dance into other places in the dance. I say this was the most interesting and fun Unit because we got to create a lot and it was free. Overall I think our dance was synchronized and was entertaining and energetic and I had lots of fun. We didn’t fool around and we both were focused.

Overall I think this dance unit was a bit of a challenge but still had lots of fun and the next unit also seems fun. I learned a lot about teamwork, cooperation, synchronized, skills, enthusiasm and others.

Blues Essay Delta blues/Chicago blues/Memohis bluesre http://blogs.yis.ac.jp/18miyazakis/2013/03/21/blues-essay-delta-blueschicago-bluesmemohis-bluesre/ http://blogs.yis.ac.jp/18miyazakis/2013/03/21/blues-essay-delta-blueschicago-bluesmemohis-bluesre/#comments Thu, 21 Mar 2013 11:24:17 +0000 Sena http://blogs.yis.ac.jp/18miyazakis/?p=795 Delta blues / Chicago blues / Memphis blues

Theres three types of blues. Delta blues, Chicago Blues, Memphis Blues. They are all different types of blues. The delta blues are modern blues and the Chicago blues and the Memphis Blues were made in the 1920’s.

Delta Blues is one of the most earliest styles of blues music. They use the Guitar, harmonica and cigar box guitar are the dominant instruments used, with slide guitar (usually on the steel guitar) being a hallmark of the style. It originated in the Mississippi delta, a region of the United States. There are lots of Delta Blues player Cecil Augusta,Mose Allison,Tommy Bankhead,Kid Bailey and others.

Women and men sang the delta blues .In big city blues, women singers dominated the recordings of the 1920s, such as Ma Rainey, Bessie Smith and Mamie Smith. In Delta Blues and other rural or folk style blues women rarely recorded the blues. The delta blues are not as  popular than before.

The Chicago blues is a form of blues music that developed in Chicago, Illinois, by taking the basic acoustic guitar and harmonica-based Delta blues, making the harmonica louder with a microphone and an instrument amplifier, and adding electrically amplified guitar, amplified bass guitar, drums, piano and sometimes saxophone and trumpet.

Chicago blues was street corner-based music. At first, the blues clubs in Chicago were filled with black performers, and the music itself was aimed for black audiences. Most of the blues clubs were on the far south side of Chicago, so white people did not visit them. Later, however, more and more white audiences visited the clubs and listened to the music. This caused clubs to open up on the north side. In addition, more white men started playing the blues after it became popular.

A Chicago Blues player is George “Buddy” Guy (born July 30, 1936), hester Arthur Burnett (June 10, 1910 January 10, 1976), known as Howlin’ Wolf, McKinley Morganfield (April 4,1913– April 30,1983), known as Muddy Waters and they are all from the United States.

The Memphis blues is a style of blues music that was created in the 1910s – 1930s.Memphis played an important role in the development of electric blues, rock and roll, blues rock, and heavy metal music. There are lots of different kinds of Memphis blues player such as..

There are different kinds of Memphis blues players such as Albert King, B. B. King, Bobby Sowell, Doctor Ross, Eric Gales, Frank Stokes, Furry Lewis, Howlin Wolf, Ida Cox, James Cotton, Joe Hill Louis, John Lee Hooker, Junior Parker, Junior Wells, Memphis Minnie, Pat Hare and others.

Overall, there are three types of blues. Delta blues, Chicago Blues, Memphis Blues. They are all different types of blues. The delta blues are modern blues and the Chicago blues and the Memphis Blues were made in the 1920’s. After I heard most of the blues song that the teacher showed me, in my opinion I will say that I don’t like the blues, because I like more modern songs and most of the blues songs are sad. If the blues song were a bit more happier I will like it.

Haribo Gummy Bear Drama Speech http://blogs.yis.ac.jp/18miyazakis/2013/02/20/haribo-gummy-bear-drama-speech/ http://blogs.yis.ac.jp/18miyazakis/2013/02/20/haribo-gummy-bear-drama-speech/#comments Wed, 20 Feb 2013 14:08:11 +0000 Sena http://blogs.yis.ac.jp/18miyazakis/?p=782

This is a video of my speech gummy bear speech.

I put some humor in it and I had a beginning middle and a end. I think I organized it well and I didn’t really hesitate like I did before in other speeches. I think I had a really good pace, even though I didn’t have that much pauses I think people understood. I think I had to improve on my projection and a bit of the volume of my voice. Overall I think I did well.

Science Element Poster Reflection http://blogs.yis.ac.jp/18miyazakis/2013/02/07/science-element-poster-reflection/ http://blogs.yis.ac.jp/18miyazakis/2013/02/07/science-element-poster-reflection/#comments Thu, 07 Feb 2013 02:27:00 +0000 Sena http://blogs.yis.ac.jp/18miyazakis/?p=778 In science class we were working on elements and we had to choose one and I chose oxygen. Oxygen is the most common chemical element found on or in Earth. It is one of the main elements that make up air, and it is necessary for the survival of all plants and animals. Scientists use symbols to stand for the chemical elements. It makes you breath without it it’s like your in outer space. (Two atoms of oxygen joined as one molecule). For our research we used a google docs document.

During this project I was proud of the information I used, I think I explained a lot about oxygen, what it is, how does it effect us and others. I am proud of how I designed the poster and how it was laid out too. Next time If I do this kind of thing I wouldn’t put to much information on the poster because it will make it less attractive and people wont have time to read it so I will make my sentences shorter still with enough information. Also I would put more pictures because I only had two pictures.
