In Science class, we started to make a poster on Asteroid Mining. We had to state what is good and bad on asteroid mining. I think my poster included information that are important. I wrote about economy, policy, and how the environment are going to be affected. However, I think I could have written more about policy further, so it would be much clearer to tell and explain about it.

I need to work on muscular strength to improve on speed and time. The sport that I want to improve more on is swimming. I need to be able to swim quickly, but in the correct form. To do this I need to work on muscular strength. I think running will help me improve muscular strength on legs and weight lifting will help me improve muscular strength on arms.

On April 11th, our Koto teacher, Mr.Patterson, Ms. Miyama and Mr.Patterson’s friend, Mr. Huebner had a performance. It was Japanese music performance. Mr. Huebner plays Japanese flute called “Shakuhachi”. My favorite music piece that was performed is Koto and Shakuhachi duet – Kaze no Uta (Song of the Wind), because there was interesting atmosphere. For example, the Shakuhachi made different kinds of sounds to express different types of wind. Koto can change the wind’s atmosphere by pressing the string, or slide the bridges to change the tuning. My favorite instrument is Koto, because it can change into different kinds of tuning, which means that the Koto is able to create melodies that shows other atmosphere.
The sound of Shakuhachi surprised me, because the sound is different compared to the Western flute. I think the Japanese music have calm and dark atmosphere.

7B Drama: Given Topic Speeches from YIS Arts on Vimeo.
This is the second speech that I presented during the speech unit.
I think my voice was loud enough and clear for the audience to understand. The main problem that I had was stopping a lot of time during my speech. I think I should have used palm cards to help me continue my speech without stopping a lot of times. There was another problem in my speech. The problem was that I moved side to side too much.
Comparing to my 1 min speech, I think my 1 min speech was better than this one, because I didn’t move side to side a lot and I didn’t stop a lot of times.

I think I did well on collecting different kinds of information. Example, what the element is used for, why this element is famous now, etc.
What can you improve?
I think I could improve on the layout of the poster, so people can enjoy it as well as getting interested on researching the element.

In tutor class, we learned what bullying is, what forms of bullying there are and what strategies there are to cope with bullying.
What is bullying?
Bullying can hurt other people’s feeling. There are two types of bullying. One is physical bullying and another one is cyber bullying. Physical bullying is related to hitting, kicking, etc. For physical bullying, it has to be face to face but for cyber bullying, the bully can just go online and type whatever they want to the victim. Cyber bullying has more danger of hurting someone else’s feeling than physical bullying because the text that includes rude words or other harmful words in social website (Facebook, Twitter, etc) can be there forever.
What are the forms of bullying?
- Cyber bullying: Type rude words in Facebook, Twitter, etc to other person.
- Physical Bullying
- Verbal bullying: Use rude words
What strategies do you have to cope with bullying?
You can tell to teacher, parents or friends and discuss the problem about bullying. Just ignore the bully or learn self-defence and protect yourself. If none of these work, then changing the school might be a good choice to do.

Minecraft Renaissance Building Tour Sean 7B from user14802193 on Vimeo.
In Humanities, we had to build a Renaissance architecture, using a gaming program called “Minecraft”. We used our school account to build. The architecture I built was Hardwick Hall. I built it with my classmates, Taro and Toshi. Unfortunately, we couldn’t finish building inside of the architecture. However, it looks realistic, because the materials we used were almost the same, such as bricks, glass, etc. Also, the building looks symmetrical. Unrealistic part of this architecture was the color. Also, we couldn’t make small parts of the building.
The problem we had during this unit was vandalizing. Some students destroyed other student’s work, which many people complained and turned out to be a major problem. Right now, the vandalization is a minor problem, but we still hope that there will be no vandalization any more on the server that we used for building.
I think our building shows that Queen Elizabeth I was very wealthy and powerful, because there are many glass. Glass is cheap right now, but it was a luxury in Renaissance time, so it shows that Queen Elizabeth I was really wealthy.
I think using Minecraft to build is creative, but there are some weaknesses. One is that there are vandalization. Also, I think it is waste of time to build for a long time. I would learn more if I draw a diagram or build a small model.
*Sorry. The information that I said is incorrect. ”Hardwick Hall was built from 1950 to 1957″ is the incorrect one. The correct information is ”Hardwick Hall was built from 1590 to 1597″.

I think my performance for part 1 was ok, but slowed down a little at the end. I think I could have add more dynamics. For part 2, there were areas that I rushed a little and there were many mistakes. Also, I could have add more dynamics. The sound is not clear for both of the parts. If I would do this again, I will try to add more dynamics and practice more to make it better. I hope you enjoy.
