The first part of the investigation we looked at what makes a good group and what you could do to help your group. Collaboration and cooperation were two of the few words we focused on and how we can do that. As well as finding out ways how to make a good structure on minecraft. After that we jumped into choosing what  we wanted our theme to be. My group came up with two ideas we really liked. Halloween and Water. One of the other groups liked the Halloween idea so we gave them that idea and we were left with the ‘Water World”. Once we had that down we started recycling attractions and structures related to ‘water’, we came up with a lot of ideas but with the amount of time we had we didn’t want to spend the longest time on minecraft. We started research some theme parks and what examples we could get some help from. And I found some cool ideas off google such as a boat restaurant with a under sea view. Finding some inspiration was easy but finding out what would make our structures look good or fun was a bit harder. So we started writing down questions as if it were a check list we could go off by the end. I wanted some critical questions but simple at the same time. I made sure that the questions weren’t just related to my work but also other peoples.

After our investigation the design plan came along and we hopped on and started working on our design brief. We started making some designs or ‘blue prints’ for our part of the theme park. We had to choose 3 designs from 4 people, we chose my design and 2 other designs. We looked at what was the best one that Sena made and then we went by his design. We chose that design because it was simple but attractive at the same time. It met our idea of a good park, also he did a really good job drawing it in Doozla.

Next was our plan. This is when we plan on what to do first and choose our role for what we will build, and also how we will make it. I chose making  the walkway, restaurant, gift shop, some statues and a fun parkour. So basically in this part we start planning when we make it, how much time we have, and how we will make it.

And lastly we had to create our structures in minecraft. Everyone jumped on to their computers and laid down the floors and the walls. I first made my gift shop. I made it a cool chest theme with the features of a beach and the sea. I think I did well on it, considering the pearls I added  looked good. Then I made the outside, I made it a glass to make it look like it was in a fish bowl. After that I made a walkway that attached to all the different structures and attractions. After that I made my restaurant and that was a success, I loved the way it looked; but sadly someone broke some of it. But luckily I it fixed it on time. After that I was done with all my steps so I started help everyone in my group. After that we were done. Me and Sena started making some cool stuff for the WHOLE theme park like a border, a sign to the theme park, a hotel and a daycare center . 

In conclusion I think I did a quite good job in creating my structures but I could have done better in the investigation and plan. I missed out on some of the steps we had to take. I really regret not doing it on time and focusing on our design folder first instead of minecraft. But after Mr. Curkovic reminded me, I finished it a bit later then it should have been due. But on creating my structure I think I used my time wisely and also working on it at home was really smart, considering it gave me a lot of time on other things and helping others in my class. This unit has taught me that designing a theme park is a bit more complicated. But seriously I learnt that investigating what your trying to do you really need to find some inspiration, or base a plan of an idea of someone else’s, not necessarily copying but building off it .  This unit was very fun and I think me and my group did a VERY good job on our WaterWorld.

Our dinner dance we were put into groups of 8 Sena, Raveena, Yudai, Johan, Zerric, Elina and Alex. Then we planned what song we wanted to use for our dance. Our first choice was a very funny song called rice and curry but Mr. Thomas gave the class some tips on choosing a song most people knew so we chose “Ghosts ‘n Stuff” by DeadMou5. We first looked to Raveena and Elina due to their history in dancing and we asked them to start off the dance. The did there jig and so we decided that it would be cool to do pattern kind of moves. Or something like a domino affect. We had multiple ideas but in the end we found one great dance we could put into the dance. Harlem Shake. A trend on youtube that went for maybe 1 and a half month so why not join it. After that we had a dance we were satisfied with.

In conclusion to the dinner dance I think I was a “okay” leader because I couldn’t always get people to listen, I could really share my idea’s but I got to start. I thought of everyone else’s opinion and put thought into it.

Then came the Gangnam Style (if thats how you spell it.) part of our unit. We had to come into 2 partners to adapt and create a slightly new second half of the Gangnam Style. My partner was Anna and we had no problem deciding the dance moves. We came up with them fairly quickly and started practicing. We mainly chose dance moves that went with the beat. Some of the dance moves we kept similar and some of them the same (just to keep the mood of Gangnam Style)

In conclusion to the Gangnam Style dance. I think I contributed as much as I could. I was able to share my opinion and get my feedback aswell. I really liked working with Anna because she makes things more interesting then it already is.

Our Unit question has been “What Makes a Good Performance?”

We discussed this questions a lot and we came up with some words too for example: Flow, Synchronization, Energetic, Organized, Different and fun. These words all represent and bring the dance together to look great. No matter what good dance you come across those words will have been said to organize the dance. We need more flow, Its Not energetic. If you want a great dance use words to build up the dance and improve it too. And making a good performance means contribution. Without you there is no dance. Cause you make it your dance.

I came up with a really fun and interactive one. It’s sneaky and clever.

After that Mr. Thomas met with Mrs. Clifford, they both realized instructional writing was clear as mud to us. So today we learned about instructional writing. Mrs. Clifford talked to us about how we can make it eye catching and how we can get people to read.

Rules:

1- Set the aim of what your trying to achieve

2- Choose the audience

3- What materials your formula

4- Your methods. Making it step by step doesn’t make it controlling and gives a clear idea of what to do

5- Use smart words that are relevant adverb, factual and adjective.

In conclusion I learned that instructional writing is clear, gives the meaning and goal of what your trying to create, it has steps to the goal, and it has to be balanced. Also with too much information no one wants to read it.

Freedom can mean a lot of different things to me. such as the freedom to trust, believe in what you do in life. The right to live the way you want to. Freedom when you have choice. The choice do, read, go, love and learn; anything, anyone, or anywhere you want to. The choice and rights to have an opinion of what you strongly believe in religion, education and wiseness and explore nature with great interest. Freedom is what you want it to be.

I definitely agree with Anna’s thoughts on travel. Because if you want to go see your dying grandparent or a loved one it would be terrible not to be their for support :

So this semester I am going to focus on it more. I have decided to ask my parents if its okay if a install some apps from the apple store by a application that helps me focus more and more on my work. What the applications do is that they block certain apps or websites for a certain amount of time you chose. But if you try turn it off it wont.

I definitely think my goal is measurable because my teachers will write on my grades of criteria and say “late” , “please hand it in on time” or “Its not complete” So by that I can see if I have been doing well or not.

I really think I can achieve this goal because then I’ll get in the habit of doing my homework everyday and maybe I’ll even forget about the app that helps me focus. Also I was given the idea to start to wake up 6:00 in the morning so I can get ready finish some homework I didn’t have time to finish and then have some free time and when its time to leave I’ll be ready for school with all my things and ready to learn.

I really think that I can start to get in the habit when after maybe 2 months of using the application to do my homework. Also with my being late to school I can really adjust to going to bed early and waking up early to get ready for school in 1 month but if I don’t get any of these done on time I hope to have them achieved by around april at least.

I think my goal is S.M.A.R.T. because I really did try to make it the best. I really hope I can improve and accomplish my goal before the end of the year. Also being late for school has been a very intense thing for my for a while now and I wish to improve on that skill as well.

I decided to want to build a church. So I went online and I found the Romanesque Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela. This got me fascinated because of the design and artwork that was put in the structure and I told Mr. Guenther what I chose to build. Then he told me that it was basically supposed to be a new holy place since they couldn’t bother with anymore crusades. So they built a new holy place. So this got me glued to the idea of what i wanted to build.

Besides minecraft. The Santiago de Compostela was finished in 1211 Catholics in Spain. They built this because it was hard with having crusades and fighting to death or battle. Instead they built a new holy place and they brought the body of St. James to rest in the Cathedral. The architecture that was put in to it was very careful and beautiful the statues and carvings into the walls represent that they wanted the cathedral to be respected and admired. Also known as a holy and beautiful place.

This is my Cathedral that I chose to build. I definitely tried to copy the angles and colours of my structure. I used various types of blocks to build my to make my structure. It took awhile but with other peoples help it wasn’t as hard as i thought it would’ve been. I didn’t work as hard in the interior as i did on the outside because, it wasn’t part of our task to build the inside of the structure of our choice. I didn’t build any of the statues that were placed on my structure because it was kind of hard to make them so I gave up on that idea. I also tried to make the structure look the same but the glass was hard because I didn’t want to use the wool because it wouldn’t look realistic as possible so I just stuck with the glass. I really like it when I added the steps to the door because it makes it look “royal” and classical.

I like the idea that we get to use minecraft for this unit. Because it brings everybody together and create together something that we probably never would be able to build in real life or make a copy of a structure or building that we like. And before I felt that if I was the only girl who liked minecraft but turns out after Mr. Guenther introduced minecraft to everyone, many other girls have started to play the game and enjoy whilst playing it.

My reaction to my whole experience is that Minecraft is a fun place to communicate and cooperate with others. But sometimes their can get to have a lot of griefing and destroy otherwise on that not Minecraft has been a success.

People may not like him because of his beliefs but that doesn’t mean that his art is bad though most of his art is to do with the bible and his religion.
