Teachers of the Future: Plan Reflection

During the last few weeks in Technology class, we have been making Google Docs for our tutorial. This documents have titles called “Tutorial Plan template” and “Tutorial Storyboard”. Both of these documents are very important for our tutorial. Both of these have all of our ideas. Now, this is my reflection for our “Teachers of the Future” part. I hope you enjoy it, and I have all the links and all the sites I used for this. This also includes the documents I used for the unit.

This is a snapshot of my tutorial plan template

First, our teacher gave us a storyboard. She made this and she assigned us for homework to fill it in. We were all asked to choose a topic for our tutorial. In this case, I chose about Koto. My question for this was: “How to read notes and perform Dynamics at the right moment”. I thought this was a big idea for Koto, especially reading the notes part. I thought this would be something fun to teach and also quite helpful who would like to start playing this beautiful instrument.

Now my storyboard has all of my ideas, and all of them are very important. It has all of the steps for learning the notes on the Koto, and what Dynamics mean. Not only that, it has the Kanji and what the numbers are in English. I think I could of put more work into the storyboard, and also add a bit more detail. Next time I can put more effort into it and also more facts, definitions and thought.

My plan has all of my ideas, and  it is very important. It has all of my steps for my tutorial, and also what I have to do. Not only that, it also shows the date and when I have to finish it. All of the dates are quite close, and I think I will need to focus to finish this tutorial and to make it good. I think this would be fun, but challenging. Reason why I think it would fun because I love to play the Koto, and also a joy to listen to!

I also need to know how to change the sounds because I am going to be playing the Koto, while I record my voice with the computer. I really do like videos that a music in the background to make the video more interesting and more exciting. I think videos and interviews without music, make the viewer bored, and not fun to watch.

I think to make a good tutorial involves a lot of time and thought. Not only that, if you are making a screen recording, I think learning your lines is very important. If you are doing a tutorial for a download for a game or application, I think putting the links and knowing the sites is also very important. People might think you are putting a virus into their computer.

Learning to make a tutorial was very fun and I would like to make more in the future. I find this a very helpful tool for your friends, and also the world. I find it very easy to make and also very enjoyable. Thank you Ms. Cofino for such a great unit!

  1. Great job Eddie! I love that you’re planning to have you playing the koto as your background music – what a great example of the music matching the topic of the tutorial! I’m still wondering which criteria you think you have met with your storyboard design, though…. Looking forward to seeing your finished project!
