Showcase Portfolios 6th
Semester 1 :These are some of my projects and assessments that I used in my Student Led Conferences.
The picture is for Art and we were suppose to draw a realistic drawing and when we finished this drawing we had to write a reflection.
For P.E one of the only things we have done on the blog is a reflection on cross country which I found some what fun.
For Japanese I did some writing about my winter break which was around a paragraph.
For Tech I wanted to show my whole Tech category because it has alot of reflections I think I worked pretty hard on and because it shows how much I have improved through the year.
For music class i did a reflection on one of my percussion performances,the reflection is oral so you will have to listen to it.
For drama the only thing that is visible via the web is the drama category which shows a collection of my reflections and videos.
Semester 2:
In this semester I think I’m unsure of what I have done because through this semester I’ve been trying to take risks with my work. One of my goals for this semester was to be more confident with my work and to add more to class discussions thats what I’ve been trying to do, but I dont think I have completely achieved this goal because I still need to work harder to add to class discussions because I’ve been trying but sometimes I just think that other classmates will have better ideas so I just let them answer. The goal I think is helping to me to take risks this semester and also to try and talk in class discussions but also I think it isn’t really pushing me enough to do it.
Another goal was to in math pay more attention and improve my knowledge which I think is slowly getting better because I’ve been more confident in answering my questions now.Also I’ve seen some improvement in my grades but I think I could still do a lot better. I think this goal is not yet achieved but could be in the next year in 7th grade. This goal has really helped me try and improve my math skills.
Tech:
During this semester in tech we worked on a lot of things but mainly to create a wonderful tutorial with many steps leading up to the tutorial. Below is my final tutorial: The reason I choose this one is because it what a lot of hard work built up into even though I’m not really proud of this work I think it was a really important part of this unit in tech. When we finished this tutorial and published it our whole grade had to comment on 2 or 3 other students tutorial reflections, as well as getting comments on our own reflections
In drama we did this dance performance, basically each group had to come up with a theme and had different criteria like rhythm , movement and much more. I am proud of this because my group and I worked hard on making this and I think this showed how much our movement piece had improved from the very beginning of the unit.My group had a theme based on a greek myth which was about a sun goddess who gets embarrassed cause she messes up, so she hides in a cave but our group used to have that full myth but we got ride of some of the story and just adding more of a dance routine into it. The reason i choose to highlight this in my showcase portfolio is because I thought it was something I really enjoyed doing and in some way I am proud of. At the end of the unit we worked on a brief reflection of our dance piece.
Art:
In art class in this semester the grade worked on a painting that was meant express yourself through and painted self portrait. I am proud of this painting because I think I really got some of the actually features of the face right and I think the eyes really reflected on myself and my feelings. At the end of the unit we did a detailed reflection that answered different questions.
Humanties:
Recently in humanties we worked on a story that we had to write based on the silk road and how hard the travels were etc. I am proud of my story because I think it shows mainly how much my writing has changed and improved from the beginning of the year. Also because I tried to really think back to around the 1200′s and how a person from that time would think, hear and understand from that time.
