In Technology class, we had a unit about making your own digital story, my digital story was about aliens. When we were making our digital stories we had four different steps to finishing it, it’s called the design cycle. The four different steps were investigating, planning, creating and evaluate. For the investigating I think I did pretty good because we looked at different digital stories and find out the key facts about it. I did pretty good and answered some key facts. We also had to investigate different tools that can help us finish our digital stories. I had to research about powerpoint. I think I did pretty good on my investigating stage. In the planning stage we had to plan what our digital story is about and what tools we might use. We also had to make a timeline list some resources we need. I think I did good on these things. But sometimes I had to change some things in my time line because of rain. I also sometimes did not listen to my timeline and missed some of the dates. So I think I did well on the planning stage. In the creating stage I think I did quite well. We only had to create our digital story so it was fairly straight forward and easy. I did have my slides to go from one slide to another so it is not like stop motion. The create stage was very easy. The evaluate stage is basically this reflection which I think I did very good on. Overall this unit about making a digital story went pretty good.
We are nearly in the end of the create stage. We have done three parts in the create stage, Create, Analyze and Reflection. There are 4 different parts in this unit, Investigation, Planning, Create and Evaluation. This is the create stage and this is the reflection. In the create stage we create our tutorial and in the analyze stage we looked at other peoples blogs and commented on them. The last stage is the reflect stage which is this reflection that I am writing right now.
When I was creating my tutorial I have learned a lot of things. I have learned a whole lot of things when creating the video and analyzing other videos. For creating the video I learned about the new techniques in IMovie like how to add transitions and music and titles. In The analyzes stage I learned about different things. A tutorial is a video that teaches something.
I am indeed very happy about the tutorial I produced in this whole unit. The reason for this is that I have done very well with the tutorial and most of the things I need to edit it. Also there were no background noises and the whole video looked professional, but maybe there were a few places that was bad.
Making the tutorial was easy because the making the whole video is very simple. When I was editing it was also easy in some bits and hard in other bits. Also I could decide whatever we want to make the video about. Another thing that was easy is the analyzing stage because all I had to do is to look at another persons blog post and comment on the blog post.
The Things that are in 6A class criteria is The sound quality is good because it is clear to hear and there is no background noises. Another thing is I used zooming as one of the techniques. Also the volume of the video is not too loud or too quiet. Another thing that I did well in the class criteria is the use of everyday language that anybody can understand.
What I need to learn to make a better tutorial is I might need to learn a little bit more about Imovie. I also maybe need to add more things to the video using the class criteria. I also maybe need to learn how to add more different techniques on the video editing as well. I also might want to find out about some other video taping techniques.
In the analyze stage I analyzed Jem who made a video about a skill in koto. I also analyzed Tyler who made a video about how to embed a link into a blog post. I think I analyzed some other person or maybe not I do not remember. Both of the videos that I analyzed was good and had some good things from our class criteria.
Overall I think I did a good job on this reflection and the tutorial. This is the longest conclusion that I had made in tech class but this does not matter, what matters is that I did a good job on the work provided. I did very well so far in tech class and I hope to get also good grades in future tech class.
This is my reflection for my plan part in the unit teachers of the future about making our own tutorial. This plan is the 2nd part of the whole design cycle of this unit. The design cycle order is Investigation, planning, creation and evaluation. In the plan section we did four things: creating a storyboard for this for the tutorial then we labeled each stage of the process plan how to create our tutorial and lastly to write this reflection.
One important thing I must remember is the pacing in my voice because for my storyboard has got a few words but not so many and I speak too fast people will not understand to what I am saying so that is important for me to consider. Also another thing to consider is Zooming in and out because there are a few parts that are very small so I need to zoom in so people can see and zoom out so people can see big things. The last thing I need to consider is finished product so I can show people the finished product is so they understand what the whole video is about.
My plan ensures that people can learn this skill by planning everything out to see if I understand what I am saying and I should look at the video after and pretend I am a viewer give feedback on myself and ask a peer to look at it and give me advice. I did well in my storyboard so that the viewer can understand by writing some clear words that I will say to make my tutorial understandable to anyone. I also used language that anyone can understand.
What I need to learn that is important in creating my tutorial is editing process because I am not perfect yet in editing in Imovie (which we will use for editing) so I make my tutorial very understandable and very professional. I also need to learn how to keep myself in speaking too fast for sometimes I get carried away and start to speak fast which then no one would understand.
In conclusion I think I did a good job so far in the investigation and the plan section of the design section. In the plan section my storyboard is well made and I planned the whole process from now to the end of the whole unit which also went very well. Of course this whole reflection is the final bit of the plan where I did very well on this reflection itself . Now the next objective is to create the whole tutorial and the next reflection might come in a week or so.(there are 2 parts of the storyboard for part 2 look at the last picture.)
This time in tech class we commented on other blog posts and commented. We did this by going on to other peoples blog and looked at the whole blog post. I analyzed Jem’s Blog and Connor’s blog. Jem’s post is about a game of soccer and connor’s post is about basic applescript. My favorite tutorial is about 16 pointed origami
this is my tutorial research.
What I learned is how to do a basic applescript and a how to score long range in a fifa game. What I also learned about controls for the fifa game because my brother has the gam and just in case I can play it now. I also learned what a basic applescript is.
What I learned during the investigate was how to make a tutorial and how to make good tutorial with loud voice no shaky screen and everything is clear. it also teached me how to make short tutorials with steps and not a video but a screen shot tutorial. also I learned about what makes a good tutorial in our tutorial research criteria this document helps us in what we can do to make our tutorial better. I can use the information got from this investigate is a very good tutorial with a clear loud voice and non shaky camera.
What i need to learn now to make a good tutorial is how to make the camera not move. I need to learn and be able to do a lot of things for instance how to make a clear and good video. I also need to learn how to make a good tutorial itself because right now I am very uncertain on how to make a awesome clear tutorial but I only know how to make a screen shot tutorial.
I think this reflection makes me think about a lot of things it make me feel “what have I done so far and what could i improve”. Also this is only 1/4 of the whole project as well and this is the investigate part of the project. overall I think I did a good job on the whole 1/4 of the project and I think I will continue the good work through the whole project.
We are researching on tutorialsfor tech class today. I researched on about 5 tutorials and I choose the one I liked the most. If this was my hobby I would pick number 3 which is about the 16 pointed origami star because the 16 pointed star is fun to make and it takes up your time in a fun way. Also The 16 pointed star is nice to give to your family as a present because it is colorful and it is a nice present to give it to some one else. I also just got feed back on the video by a friend. He said the video was not as good quality but overall the whole thing was good. In conclusion I think I had a hard fought battle to decide which one was good and which one was bad most of the videos seemed to be pretty good.
This is the last reflection that I have to write on our technology unit which is about becoming a blogger. What we did for this was we updated our widgets by adding search, categories, links, archives and the meta. We also had to add a navigation menu to our blogs and add a header. Plus to add links to other blogs that we like. Than we had to make an about me page and add it to the navagation menu and to the menu bar on the top.
I am really happy with the blog design that I have because It looks like the blog design that I made on paper. The blog design that I made was a minecraft looking design and it looks very similar to the blog design I have with me right now. I am really proud of this design for a few reason, the texture of the blog is very simple and doesn’t attract other people so much which means i doesn’t get so destracted.
The Thing that I am most proud of is the widgets. The reason for this is that The widgets are fun things to interact with for the little kids but it isn’t so interesting. I also have the “who’s among us” widget which helps me with my goal which is “To get at least 20 different people from 20 different countries”. It helps me by telling me who visited my blog.
I want to learn about the specifics. The reason for this is that the most specific and small things gets me, it is like I can’t figure the most easiest thing in the whole blog.
In conclusion, I think I did a very good job on this reflection it self and the other things that we did in this class of technology. I did a good job on making the three blog designs that we had to make for our blog and many more to right. This is near the end of the technology unit and I am so close to being an expert in blogging.
