What I Am Doing
In class we have to choose and experiment that had something to do with gravity. We had to do this in partners and my partner is Elina. Our experiment is going to explain what shoes have more grip.
My Hypothesis
I think sports shoes are going to have more grip. I think this because there are more holes at the bottom of sports shoes than other shoes and that makes sports shoes become sport shoes. I think the shoe with the least grip will be flats because they have flat bottoms and they have no holes at the bottom. This makes flats more slippery and that makes they have less grip.
My Variables
One thing that is going to change is the amount of books needed to make the shoes glide. One thing that is going to stay the same is the wood because we only need to use the wood to put the shoes on and to rest on the books. One thing we are going to control are the shoes. We will be changing what shoes we will use and measure how long it will stay on.
My Method
First we are going to put one book on the floor and rest on side of the wood plank on the book. We then put weights inside the shoes and put one of the shoes on the side of the plank thats resting on the books. If the shoe does not glide down, we keep adding shoes until they do. Then when it glides we take of that shoe and add the next one and do the same with six shoes.
Apparatus/Materials
In my experiment I will need a few weights (enough for six shoes), a wood plank, some books and around six shoes.
Risk Assessment
We have to be cautious with the weights and that we don’t drop them on someone or something. There are not that many risks to this experiment.
My Next Stage
If we had more time to do these experiments I would choose one that is more to do with gravity.
