Rhythms are important in music because if there was no rhythm, we can’t compose music. Music is about expressing your feelings and having passion but you need to know the rhythm, because Rhythm is Music. In order to sing or play an instrument, you need to have rhythm!
Rhythm is used in music many different ways. When its Mozart, the rhythm changes a lot. For example, the beginning might be slow and steady, and the middle might be a little faster. My favorite classic artist is Beethoven because I like his style of music. The beginning is important because you want to make people pay attention. For example, in the start the rhythm might be normal, but it could be really fast. Suddenly, it can be a relaxed steady rhythm. And it can go back to a fast rhythm.
I have many favorite songs, but the song I listen the most is Both sides of Story by We are the in crowd. The rhythm is slow in the beginning but it get faster when its in the middle and it goes slow in the end. The beginning catches my attention because the vocalists sings from the start and theres the guitar.
In music class we researched musics from our homelands. My Homeland is Japan so I researched the traditional music and instruments. I found out that Japanese music came from chinese a long time ago.
More info on presentation:
1) How is the music from my homeland uniquely identifiable?
The Rhythm is slow and steady. The Koto has a good sound and it is relaxing. The Shamisen has a unique sound and lots of okinawans use this instrument.
2) How does it compare with music from other countries?
Japanese Music is simmular to Chinese music because some of the instruments are simmular and has the same sound. But I think that Chinese music rhythm is faster and Japanese music is slower.
3) Are there other countries whose music is very similar?
The Chinese is simmular to the Japanese music. Japanese traditional music came from Chinese music a long time ago. The instrument called Koto was also made from China.
4) Who is my favorite artist from my homeland?
I don’t really listen to Japanese music. I only know a few of the artists in Japan. For example, Jero, Angela Aki, Crystal Key. I mostly listen to artists from the U.S and the genres are pop-rock, rock, heavy-metal, punk.
In this unit, we have to make a great tutorial of something we want to teach to people. We have been researching different tutorials on youtube and commenting what was good and what needs to improve. Then, we had to brainstorm and plan our own tutorial. In order to make a tutorial, we first had to plan a storyboard. On the storyboard, we had to include drawings and the different things we’re going to do on the video.
My storyboard demonstrated 3 criteria:
- Step by Step
I was detailed because I had lots of detail for each storyboard and they also had examples. I was really planned because I was organized and had the different steps. So I had step-by-step directions and examples for my tutorial storyboard planning. My tutorial has easy but challenging steps but I’ll make sure to explain it very well so the viewer will learn quicker. Its also a good one because I have planned very well and discussed it with other people what I should improve on and what was good.
The viewer will understand what I’m going to do because my tutorial has clear steps and it is easy to see. If you were looking at my tutorial plan, you would understand and learn faster because I have important key-words and easier directions. If I had too much complex directions/steps, the viewer won’t understand me.
What I need to learn in order to create a tutorial is that I need to learn how to speak infront of the camera so I don’t get nervous and make mistakes. I also need to learn how to teach someone so they can learn faster and easier. Teaching someone would definitely be a challenge for me.
Heres my Tutorial Storyboard Planning:
The Best Speech: Important person in your Life
I chose my big sister because she helped me a lot and cheered me up when I was sad and disappointed. I think my voice was clear enough. I also think I was better than last time too. I was so nervous so I couldn’t talk about my big sister and forgot the lines. I like this speech better because I was calmer than the first speech even though I was the first one. Next time, I would like to take a deep breath and relax! I really want to be confident too.

This girl is called Amira and she did a speech about her best friend. She was very organized and spoke in a clear/loud voice. She looked very calm and relaxed. I thought that I wanted to be like her…

Completing our Experiment
We made 27 balloons and there were some extras. The balloons amount of water was all 150~200 grams. But the extra ones water amount was under 150 so we couldn’t use it for experiment. After the experiment Hanna and I did some math and calculated the average of the result. Satoshi didn’t do anything at first but after he came and helped.
What Our Results Mean
As you can see, the result for the last one has the largest number. But when you look at the second try, the result is smaller than the first try. So this means that it doesn’t mean that the number will get higher when you change the height. Maybe the amount of the second waters balloon was smaller than the first water balloon amount.
Errors In Our Data
The errors in our data was that I made a mistake and measured the splash of the water balloon, but we were supposed to measure the puddle. We had to calculate a lot and Mr. Fedley helped us too. It was a bit hard but next time, I would like to be careful.
And Our Hypothesis Was….
The Radius is going to get bigger as we go higher because there is more speed and the gravity force will get larger. Maybe we were right, because the last ones result was bigger than the first and the second try. But the second try was smaller than the firsts one.
And The Rest
What I learned during this experiment was to cooperate with each other and not make one person do things. Otherwise you won’t learn how to comunicate or learn anything about the experiment.
I think that I should think before doing something, because it can make things faster.
