My Graffiti Character Tutorial!

Hello Everyone! For the past few weeks, I been working on my Graffiti Character Tutorial. While its exporting, im going to write a little intro and reflection. Before we edit our videos, we had to do the Self & Peer Assessment checklist. For the checklist, we first had to do the checklist yourselves and after you done that, you need to ask someone to watch your tutorial and make a comment on what you did well, and to improve on. After your peer commented on your tutorial, you need to edit what needs to improve. So I had to use my lunch break time to finish off my tutorial! Finally, finishing off the tutorial, we had to Export it to HD and then publish it to Youtube!
My tutorial connects and has the following criteria:
  • Finish Product
  • Safety
  • Good quality video(My video is 1080 HD!!!)
What I did to get these criteria was to show other people my work and listen to their advice and then edit my video again. I also got help from other people and listened to their ideas and edit my video again. It was quite challenging because when I was recording the voiceover for my tutorial, the background wasn’t really quiet like home because there were other people recording. So I had to find a really quiet place to record the voiceover.
By watching 2-3 tutorials I watched for homework is that if I was using voiceover, I should to speak slowly and in a steady pace otherwise no one would understand what I say. The tutorials I watched was Emma’s tutorial   and Pia’s tutorial . Emma’s tutorial was how to make brownies which really helped because I learned how to cook! Pia’s tutorial was origami book mark. I thought it was creative and interesting.
The challenging part for me was to edit the video because I don’t really use imovie and I don’t really know cool effects. But after making this tutorial, I improved and learned a lot on editing videos. What I need to improve is when I use voiceover for any videos, I should speak very formal and in a steady pace.
Here is my Tutorial:

Tutorial Plan Reflection

In this unit, we have to make a great tutorial of something we want to teach to people. We have been researching different tutorials on youtube and commenting what was good and what needs to improve. Then, we had to brainstorm and plan our own tutorial. In order to make a tutorial, we first had to plan a storyboard. On the storyboard, we had to include drawings and the different things we’re going to do on the video.

My storyboard demonstrated 3 criteria:

  • Detailed
  • Planned
  • Step by Step

I was detailed because I had lots of detail for each storyboard and they also had examples. I was really planned because I was organized and had the different steps. So I had step-by-step directions and examples for my tutorial storyboard planning. My tutorial has easy but challenging steps but I’ll make sure to explain it very well so the viewer will learn quicker. Its also a good one because I have planned very well and discussed it with other people what I should improve on and what was good.

The viewer will understand what I’m going to do because my tutorial has clear steps and it is easy to see. If you were looking at my tutorial plan, you would understand and learn faster because I have important key-words and easier directions. If I had too much complex directions/steps, the viewer won’t understand me.

What I need to learn in order to create a tutorial is that I need to learn how to speak infront of the camera so I don’t get nervous and make mistakes. I also need to learn how to teach someone so they can learn faster and easier. Teaching someone would definitely be a challenge for me.

Tutorial Investigate Reflection

In this unit, we are learning how to make our own tutorials. I am making a tutorial on how to draw graffiti characters. Before we make one, we have to learn the steps to make a good tutorial. What I learned from this unit was that if  you wanted to make a good tutorial, you need to know the different steps and instructions. You also need to research whats good and whats not.

First, we had to research different tutorials on youtube. We had to write what we learned, what was good, and what had to improve on a document called Tutorial research . My favorite tutorial during research is posted on the other blog post which was Skyfall on piano and Graffiti character. I commented on Sayaka’s blog and Ayaka’s blog to see they’re favorite tutorial. What I learned from Sayaka’s favorite tutorial is that I should speak clearly and have good quality video so that the audience know what I’m talking about. What I learned from Ayaka’s favorite tutorial was that I should be organized and show the different materials you need in order to do the tutorial.                           To make a great tutorial, I need to have good quality for my video, simple and easy instructions so people can understand easier and faster, also be ready for the tutorial and have confidents.

Then, we had to make a quick tutorial of something very easy we can do on the computer to get some ideas for our own tutorial. Heres the Google presentation tutorial:

Compare and Contrast:

There is a lot of differences in my tutorial and my favorite ones. First of all, my tutorial style is google presentation and my favorite tutorial is on youtube video. So the way you see it is different because in a video, you can hear the person but in a presentation you can only read the directions and look at pictures. If I was searching for a tutorial, I would go to youtube or maybe look at someones presentation because I am the type of person who likes to watch and learn(visual learner). The similar part was that it was understandable and easy to learn. Maybe my tutorial was easier because mine was short but my favorite tutorial had good quality too. Now, I need to make sure I have good directions and demonstrations so that the audience can find the right information so that they can learn things easier and faster.

My Favorite Tutorials!

In technology class we had to research different tutorials so we get inspired when we make our own tutorials. One of my favorite tutorial was “How to play Skyfall by Adele on Piano”. My hobby is to play piano and I wanted to play this song by Adele! I’m now practicing this song. The other tutorials are graffiti characters which is also my hobby. I got inspired by making my own character:) What I learned from this tutorial was the different complex chords/notes on the piano. Also, the different parts of the songs for example: The intro, pre-chorus, etc. The creator of this tutorial had a good tone of voice and spoke in a clear voice. The chords on the top was really helpful because when I paused the video I can practice on my own pace. There wasn’t any bad parts in this video but he could maybe play the intro slower and give strategies.

This is also my favorite tutorial which is about Graffiti characters! Its also one of my hobbies, and I draw graffiti characters when I’m bored or done with my homework:P This tutorial was really helpful and inspiring because after watching the tutorial, I created my own graffiti character. What I learned from this vid was using space so I don’t waste paper. The creator of this tutorial was very neat and the quality of the video was good so I can see what the person is drawing. There was background music so it was a bit distracting. I thought that this wasn’t for beginners. I think it was for people who had more experience.

Create Reflection

I am really happy with my blog design/theme because it is simple, but not too simple. It has a peaceful color and also the background is a rock band called “Paramore” which is one of my favorites. The header image makes me happy because it says “smile”. There is a menu bar, so you can click on the different categories. For example, if you click on 6th grade, the different subjects will come out. So you don’t have to scroll down the news feed and you can just click the subject you want to look at(it is much easier). 😀

What I’m most proud of my blog is the information and the blog theme/background, and the different categories. The information(the posts) are appropriate and makes sense. It tells you the different things I have learned in my school subjects. There are different pictures for the posts, so its not boring. The menu categories helps me a lot because you can just click to the different subjects and a “About me” page. The about me page tells you informations about me, so you will know what I like/dislike. What I really like the most is the blog theme/background because if you had a blog, you need to make it STAND OUT so you can choose images or different colors. Also, the header is important because I think when people go to blogs, the first thing they look at is the Header image+Blog Title/Tagline.

The background choice is important because, one of my friends chose a background that moves, so you can’t concentrate on the writing. What if the theme of the page was standing out a lot, and the information was wrong? It won’t make a good blog because the information is wrong. The theme of the page should stand-out, but not too much. Otherwise, the blogger won’t concentrate on what they are finding.

So what I have explained was: The most things that I’m proud/happy of my blog, and about blog theme/backgrounds. I think my blog is neat, colorful, has lots of information.

Becoming a Blogger Plan Reflection

What we done so far in technology class is Designing/planning our blog. We had to draw a plan for our blog design(how you wanted to look like). We had to make at least 3 of it, and choose the favorite one. After drawing, we also had to label the different things of the blog. For example, the header image, blog title, post author etc. On the back of the paper, we had to write why we chose it, and how it shows your personality.
Eileen

We also had to set our own goal on a document called How to grow a blog, which is goal for your blog. There is goal, habits and commitment, and the right habitat. Habits and commitments is what you will do to your blog everyday. For example, I am going to check for comments, and make sure the blog post is correct and accurate. The Right Habitat is how you can make your blog better. Like, you can ask advise from your friends, teachers, etc. We are learning these things because we want to make the best blog ever! And it helps us learn how to use blogs so when we grow up, we know these things and maybe we will be good at it, because we are doing blog planning  now.

I chose this theme because the background is colorful, fun, and also exciting. I also chose it because I want my blog to look neat, and so that people can look at my posts clearly. This theme represent me because I like bright colors, and also I think I am a fun person:).

I learned the different categories of a blog, and I also labeled the different things. I was reflecting when I did the How to grow a blog because I had to think how I could improve on my blog, and how I can do it. So it really helped me. I need to learn more how to use widgets, menus, so I understand the different things of the blog. I can learn how to do it by going to the WordPress we did so I can research. I will also like to learn how to put apps and games on my blog to entertain the audience(the people who look at my blog). I can learn this by going to different peoples blog who have apps/games on their blog, and ask(comment) on their blog.

A Road of Blog investigating

In Tech Class during this 6 week, we have worked on 3 things. Blog research, Blog brainstorm, and Learning about WordPress. Those were important because we had to learn what makes a good blog. What I learned from this unit is to know what to post, and how we could grab people’s attention.

We learned those 3 important things, so we can create a really good blog with good information, good appearance, and entertainment. If you didn’t have good information or a bad background blog, no one will come to your blog because you don’t have a good blog. People want good blog so they can get inspired and get good information. The blog research helped me by looking at people’s blog and getting inspired and knowing the different categories, designs, etc. on blogs. I can now make a good blog, and because I looked at other people’s blog, I need will need to understand what people think about my blog. The Blog brainstorm was a brainstorm of ideas you can write on your blog. For example, you could write about your passion/hobbies, favorite sports, etc. I could control my blog and do what I wanted to do for my blog. The Learning about WordPress helped me, a lot. We had to learn the different sections and what they do. So you can edit your blog! Because we learned the 3 important things, now I know how to post things and design my blog background/header/themes and add pages.

The three most important criteria to me is design, entertainment, and safety. First of all, I think design is important because if you had a boring white background and a really small Title of the blog, people will not go to your blog because it doesn’t STAND OUT and maybe because the title is not big enough. The blog title is really important because people will need to know what your blog title is so they can understand the topic. The header image should relate to the blog/post/or your background. Otherwise it would be confusing for the blogger when they go to your blog. The next thing I think is important is entertainment. Why I think so, is because people want entertainment and they want to enjoy learning and discovering things. Finally, the most important thing is SAFETY. If you put too much information(example: where you live, address, phone-number, privacy), you might be in danger. You might get hack on you account, or some people might pretend that they are you and do something bad.

When you want check if your criteria’s good these are the things you could do: For design, you could ask a friend/teacher,etc. what they think about your blog design. For entertainment, you can check your blog  if you have any categories or anything that can make people entertain. And for safety, you could brainstorm the things that you could post on your blog which is safe(like the blog brainstorm).

In my conclusion, I will like to summarize what I wrote in this reflection shorty. So I have introduced what I’ve been doing during the 6 weeks on making a good blog. I think I did a good job explaining what I had learned so far about making a good blog, my research, because before this unit I didn’t know anything about blogging and making a good blog but when we did researches, now I know how to make a good blog! For the next unit, I will like to learn how people blog in a good way/bad way. I want to be better for my blog, by adding categories and such. The most things what I’m proud of learning was the blog research because I enjoyed researching other people’s blog and being inspired!
