You need to write a blog post and copy the link to the Google Doc on the class blog reflecting on your learning from Unit 2, however, we are going to do something a little different. Rather than doing a typical reflection, your reflection must include at least four of the following reflection options:
- Use a metaphor and a simile to describe the subjunctive and/or the imperative.
Subjunctive is like an encyclopedia for people with strong opinions who likes to take leadership.
- How is what you have learned relevant to other classes/material you are learning?
Since we learnt about different beauty standards and how we should gain self-confidence, I am now able to participate in more class discussions during classes since I’m more confident about myself.
- Does what you have learned have any moral, religious, or ethical implications? What are they?
Yes, I feel like the current unit has deep connections with ethical implications, since there is no right or wrong or any clear dentition of a beautiful woman (individual). Also, because there isn’t one type of fashionable clothing/outfit, there is nobody who can decide whether a person is beautiful or not because this may sound cliche, but everybody is beautiful in their own ways.
- How did you feel during the learning experience? Why did you feel this way?
Throughout the unit, I got to learn lots about how the social media really affects the way of thinking, usually for girls my age, which is very unfortunate because it’s a path that not many can avoid from; seeing all those posts which may cause some girls to lose their self-esteem/confidence because they don’t look exactly like the models on media. The fact that I’m part of the teenage girl group who has deep connection with being influenced by different social media sites made me feel sad, because as a woman myself, I did not want to be influenced or change my thinking of myself. Also, it made me sad that nowadays, people with self-confidence looks like self-centered narcissistic freaks.
