I have been in the sustainability group since 10th grade when I joined Yokohama International School. Since then I have been observing how the creator of the group leads, these are something I noticed:
- Able to offer help to anyone = accountability
- Always answers e-mails on time
- Positive Attitude
- Effective Decision Making
So I changed my work attitude to meet these criteria’s. Now I felt I was finally ready to take on a management position.
At the end of the year, we want to have a fashion show and other projects, so the sustainability group split up into groups, advocacy, and fashion/up-cycling. I stepped up and now I am managing the up-cycling group. So my group and I went searching through bins of used clothing and took some pieces out that I saw had potential. So at this moment, we are transforming an old lab coat (that was missing a chunk) into a bomber jacket.
We have been doing other little upcycling projects along the lab coat, and at the end of the year, we are able to host a fashion show, displaying the pieces of clothing we have upcycled.
