In Drama, we have been thinking about “what makes a character?”.  Currently we are learning about stereotype.

What does stereotype mean?

Stereotype is a general idea that people have about what someone or something is like. It is usually wrong.  Cultural, racial, gender are examples of stereostypes.

When are stereotypes useful?

Stereotypes are useful when you have to make a quick-judgement between people. Also, when we have to do a improvisation and you have to act like someone else, having some stereotypes of the character in your mind can help you act.

Can you judge a book by its cover?

I don’t think you can judge a book by its cover because, the pictures or titles might have nothing to do with the content. You won’t know what the book is about until you read it. This is the same for people. Someone might look scary or mean, but they could be really nice and friendly. 🙂
